cpufreq: introduce cpufreq_generic_get() routine

The current exynos cpufreq drivers are not multiplatform compliant
and give build errors as they refer to header files from machine
directory. Work to migrate them to generic cpufreq framework is
under way. Till such time disable the build on multiplatform so
that other multiplatform ready features get tested.

Pull more ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"These are commits that were not quite ready when I sent the original
pull request for 3.15-rc1 several days ago, but they have spent some
time in linux-next since then and appear to be good to go. All of
them are fixes and cleanups.
Specifics:
- Remaining changes from upstream ACPICA release 20140214 that
introduce code to automatically serialize the execution of methods
creating any named objects which really cannot be executed in
parallel with each other anyway (previously ACPICA attempted to
address that by aborting methods upon conflict detection, but that
wasn't reliable enough and led to other issues). From Bob Moore
and Lv Zheng.
- intel_pstate fix to use del_timer_sync() instead of del_timer() in
the exit path before freeing the timer structure from Dirk
Brandewie (original patch from Thomas Gleixner).
- cpufreq fix related to system resume from Viresh Kumar.
- Serialization of frequency transitions in cpufreq that involve
PRECHANGE and POSTCHANGE notifications to avoid ordering issues

- Revert of an ACPI processor driver change that was based on a
specific interpretation of the ACPI spec which may not be correct
(the relevant part of the spec appears to be incomplete). From

As of commit 05aa55dddb9ee4045c320661068bea78dad6a6e5 ("PM / Runtime:
Lenient generic runtime pm callbacks"), the generic power management
callbacks pm_generic_runtime_suspend() and pm_generic_runtime_resume()
return 0, not -EINVAL, if the device doesn't provide its own callbacks.

CPUFreq core has new infrastructure that would guarantee serialized calls to
target() or target_index() callbacks. These are called
cpufreq_freq_transition_begin() and cpufreq_freq_transition_end().
This patch converts existing drivers to use these new set of routines.

Whenever we change the frequency of a CPU, we call the PRECHANGE and POSTCHANGE
notifiers. They must be serialized, i.e. PRECHANGE and POSTCHANGE notifiers
should strictly alternate, thereby preventing two different sets of PRECHANGE or
POSTCHANGE notifiers from interleaving arbitrarily.
The following examples illustrate why this is important:
Scenario 1:
-----------
A thread reading the value of cpuinfo_cur_freq, will call
__cpufreq_cpu_get()->cpufreq_out_of_sync()->cpufreq_notify_transition()
The ondemand governor can decide to change the frequency of the CPU at the same
time and hence it can end up sending the notifications via ->target().
If the notifiers are not serialized, the following sequence can occur:
- PRECHANGE Notification for freq A (from cpuinfo_cur_freq)
- PRECHANGE Notification for freq B (from target())
- Freq changed by target() to B
- POSTCHANGE Notification for freq B
- POSTCHANGE Notification for freq A
We can see from the above that the last POSTCHANGE Notification happens for freq
A but the hardware is set to run at freq B.
Where would we break then?: adjust_jiffies() in cpufreq.c & cpufreq_callback()
in arch/arm/kernel/smp.c (which also adjusts the jiffies). All the
loops_per_jiffy calculations will get messed up.
Scenario 2:
-----------
The governor calls __cpufreq_driver_target() to change the frequency. At the
same time, if we change scaling_{min|max}_freq from sysfs, it will end up
calling the governor's CPUFREQ_GOV_LIMITS notification, which will also call
__cpufreq_driver_target(). And hence we end up issuing concurrent calls to
->target().
Typically, platforms have the following logic in their ->target() routines:
(Eg: cpufreq-cpu0, omap, exynos, etc)
A. If new freq is more than old: Increase voltage
B. Change freq
C. If new freq is less than old: decrease voltage
Now, if the two concurrent calls to ->target() are X and Y, where X is trying to
increase the freq and Y is trying to decrease it, we get the following race
condition:
X.A: voltage gets increased for larger freq
Y.A: nothing happens
Y.B: freq gets decreased
Y.C: voltage gets decreased
X.B: freq gets increased
X.C: nothing happens
Thus we can end up setting a freq which is not supported by the voltage we have
set. That will probably make the clock to the CPU unstable and the system might
not work properly anymore.
This patch introduces a set of synchronization primitives to serialize frequency
transitions, which are to be used as shown below:
cpufreq_freq_transition_begin();
//Perform the frequency change
cpufreq_freq_transition_end();
The _begin() call sends the PRECHANGE notification whereas the _end() call sends
the POSTCHANGE notification. Also, all the necessary synchronization is handled
within these calls. In particular, even drivers which set the ASYNC_NOTIFICATION
flag can also use these APIs for performing frequency transitions (ie., you can
call _begin() from one task, and call the corresponding _end() from a different
task).
The actual synchronization underneath is not that complicated:
The key challenge is to allow drivers to begin the transition from one thread
and end it in a completely different thread (this is to enable drivers that do
asynchronous POSTCHANGE notification from bottom-halves, to also use the same
interface).
To achieve this, a 'transition_ongoing' flag, a 'transition_lock' spinlock and a
wait-queue are added per-policy. The flag and the wait-queue are used in
conjunction to create an "uninterrupted flow" from _begin() to _end(). The
spinlock is used to ensure that only one such "flow" is in flight at any given
time. Put together, this provides us all the necessary synchronization.

Ensure that no timer callback is running since we are about to free
the timer structure. We cannot guarantee that the call back is called
on the CPU where the timer is running.

During suspend, we first stop governors and then suspend cpufreq drivers and
resume must be exactly opposite of that. i.e. resume drivers first and then
start governors.
But the current code in resume enables governors first and then resume drivers.
Fix it be changing code sequence there.

Revert commit df86f5df79d8 (ACPI / processor: Make it possible to get
APIC ID via GIC).
APIC ID refers the hardware ID of the CPU, which means MPIDR on
ARM/ARM64, but in ACPI 5.0, GIC ID feild in GIC structure have
no explicit definition and may not refer to the MPIDR.
Commit df86f5df79d8 assumed that gic->gic_id as MPIDR which may not be
the case, so revert it until the explicit definition of GIC structure
is ready.

The previous commit "ACPICA: Add auto-serialization support for ill-behaved
control methods" introduced the auto-serialization facility as a workaround
that can be enabled by "acpi_auto_serialize":
This feature marks control methods that create named objects as "serialized"
to avoid unwanted AE_ALREADY_EXISTS control method evaluation failures.
Enable method auto-serialization as the default kernel behavior. The new kernel
parameter is also changed from "acpi_auto_serialize" to "acpi_no_auto_serialize"
to reflect the default behavior.

Cannot use a sync_level for methods that have been serialized at load-time
or runtime because this may interfere with any existing use of sync_levels
within the ASL code. So, we simply ignore the sync_level for these methods,
thus preserving any existing sync_level priorities. Note, the use of
sync_levels is actually rather rare within BIOS ASL code.

This change adds some additional opcodes that are detected and will
cause a method to be auto-serialized. These opcodes are the various

This change adds support to automatically mark a control method as
"serialized" if the method creates any named objects. This will
positively prevent the method from being entered by more than one
thread and thus preventing a possible abort when an attempt is
made to create an object twice.
Implemented by parsing all non-serialize control methods at table
load time.
This feature is disabled by default and this patch also adds a new
Linux kernel parameter "acpi_auto_serialize" to allow this feature
to be turned on for a specific boot.

According to the reports, the "acpi_serialize" mechanism is broken as:
A. The parallel method calls can still happen when the interpreter lock is
released under the following conditions:
1. External callbacks are invoked, for example, by the region handlers,
the exception handlers, etc.;
2. Module level execution is performed when Load/LoadTable opcodes are
executed, and
3. The _REG control methods are invoked to complete the region
registrations.
B. For the following situations, the interpreter lock need to be released
even for a serialized method while currently, the lock-releasing
operation is marked as a no-op by
acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() when this mechanism is
enabled:
1. Wait opcode is executed,
2. Acquire opcode is executed, and
3. Sleep opcode is executed.
This patch removes this mechanism and the internal
acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() APIs. Lv Zheng.

Pull powerpc non-virtualized cpuidle from Ben Herrenschmidt:
"This is the branch I mentioned in my other pull request which contains
our improved cpuidle support for the "powernv" platform
(non-virtualized).
It adds support for the "fast sleep" feature of the processor which
provides higher power savings than our usual "nap" mode but at the
cost of losing the timers while asleep, and thus exploits the new
timer broadcast framework to work around that limitation.

Fast sleep is one of the deep idle states on Power8 in which local timers of
CPUs stop. On PowerPC we do not have an external clock device which can
handle wakeup of such CPUs. Now that we have the support in the tick broadcast
framework for archs that do not sport such a device and the low level support
for fast sleep, enable it in the cpuidle framework on PowerNV.

During "Fast-sleep" and deeper power savings state, decrementer and
timebase could be stopped making it out of sync with rest
of the cores in the system.
Add a firmware call to request platform to resync timebase
using low level platform methods.

Before adding Fast-Sleep into the cpuidle framework, some low level
support needs to be added to enable it. This includes saving and
restoring of certain registers at entry and exit time of this state
respectively just like we do in the NAP idle state.

Split timer_interrupt(), which is the local timer interrupt handler on ppc
into routines called during regular interrupt handling and __timer_interrupt(),
which takes care of running local timers and collecting time related stats.
This will enable callers interested only in running expired local timers to
directly call into __timer_interupt(). One of the use cases of this is the
tick broadcast IPI handling in which the sleeping CPUs need to handle the local
timers that have expired.

For scalability and performance reasons, we want the tick broadcast IPIs
to be handled as efficiently as possible. Fixed IPI messages
are one of the most efficient mechanisms available - they are faster than
the smp_call_function mechanism because the IPI handlers are fixed and hence
they don't involve costly operations such as adding IPI handlers to the target
CPU's function queue, acquiring locks for synchronization etc.
Luckily we have an unused IPI message slot, so use that to implement
tick broadcast IPIs efficiently.

The IPI handlers for both PPC_MSG_CALL_FUNC and PPC_MSG_CALL_FUNC_SINGLE map
to a common implementation - generic_smp_call_function_single_interrupt(). So,
we can consolidate them and save one of the IPI message slots, (which are
precious on powerpc, since only 4 of those slots are available).
So, implement the functionality of PPC_MSG_CALL_FUNC_SINGLE using
PPC_MSG_CALL_FUNC itself and release its IPI message slot, so that it can be
used for something else in the future, if desired.

Pull main powerpc updates from Ben Herrenschmidt:
"This time around, the powerpc merges are going to be a little bit more
complicated than usual.
This is the main pull request with most of the work for this merge
window. I will describe it a bit more further down.
There is some additional cpuidle driver work, however I haven't
included it in this tree as it depends on some work in tip/timer-core
which Thomas accidentally forgot to put in a topic branch. Since I
didn't want to carry all of that tip timer stuff in powerpc -next, I
setup a separate branch on top of Thomas tree with just that cpuidle
driver in it, and Stephen has been carrying that in next separately
for a while now. I'll send a separate pull request for it.
Additionally, two new pieces in this tree add users for a sysfs API
that Tejun and Greg have been deprecating in drivers-core-next.
Thankfully Greg reverted the patch that removes the old API so this
merge can happen cleanly, but once merged, I will send a patch
adjusting our new code to the new API so that Greg can send you the
removal patch.
Now as for the content of this branch, we have a lot of perf work for
power8 new counters including support for our new "nest" counters
(also called 24x7) under pHyp (not natively yet).
We have new functionality when running under the OPAL firmware
(non-virtualized or KVM host), such as access to the firmware error
logs and service processor dumps, system parameters and sensors, along
with a hwmon driver for the latter.
There's also a bunch of bug fixes accross the board, some LE fixes,
and a nice set of selftests for validating our various types of copy
loops.
On the Freescale side, we see mostly new chip/board revisions, some
clock updates, better support for machine checks and debug exceptions,
etc..."

If we do nothing in suspend/resume, some platform PCIe ip-block
can't guarantee the link back to L0 state from sleep, then, when
we read the EP device will hang. Only we send pme turnoff message
in pci controller suspend, and send pme exit message in resume, the
link state will be normal.
When we send pme turnoff message in pci controller suspend, the
links will into l2/l3 ready, then, host cannot communicate with
ep device, but pci-driver will call back EP device to save them
state. So we need to change platform_driver->suspend/resume to
syscore->suspend/resume.
So the new suspend/resume implementation, send pme turnoff message
in suspend, and send pme exit message in resume. And add a PME handler,
to response PME & message interrupt.
Change platform_driver->suspend/resume to syscore->suspend/resume.
pci-driver will call back EP device, to save EP state in
pci_pm_suspend_noirq, so we need to keep the link, until
pci_pm_suspend_noirq finish.

Most of this code could be used to handle debug exceptions taken from
kernel space, but actually doing so is outside the scope of this patch.
The various critical and machine check exceptions now point to their
real handlers, rather than hanging the kernel.

Use the proper scratch SPRG and PACA region. Introduce level-specific
macros to simplify usage and avoid needing to do a bunch of token
pasting throughout EXCEPTION_COMMON().
Now that EXCEPTION_COMMON_DBG() is properly using the debug scratch
register, there's no more need for the caller to move the value to the
GEN scratch first.

The ints parameter was used to optionally insert RECONCILE_IRQ_STATE
into EXCEPTION_COMMON. However, since it came at the end of
EXCEPTION_COMMON, there was no real benefit for it to be there as
opposed to being called separately by the caller of EXCEPTION_COMMON.
The ints parameter was causing some hassle when trying to add an extra
macro layer. Besides avoiding that, moving "ints" to the caller makes
the code simpler by:
- avoiding the asymmetry where INTS_RESTORE_HARD is called separately
by the individual exception, but INTS_DISABLE was not
- removing the no-op INTS_KEEP
- not having an unnecessary macro parameter
It also turned out to be necessary to delay the INTS_DISABLE
in the case of special level exceptions until after we saved the
old value of PACAIRQHAPPENED.

While bolted handlers (including e6500) do not need to deal with a TLB
miss recursively causing another TLB miss, nested TLB misses can still
happen with crit/mc/debug exceptions -- so we still need to honor
SPRG_TLB_EXFRAME.
We don't need to spend time modifying it in the TLB miss fastpath,
though -- the special level exception will handle that.

Previously SPRG3 was marked for use by both VDSO and critical
interrupts (though critical interrupts were not fully implemented).
In commit 8b64a9dfb091f1eca8b7e58da82f1e7d1d5fe0ad ("powerpc/booke64:
Use SPRG0/3 scratch for bolted TLB miss & crit int"), Mihai Caraman
made an attempt to resolve this conflict by restoring the VDSO value
early in the critical interrupt, but this has some issues:
- It's incompatible with EXCEPTION_COMMON which restores r13 from the
by-then-overwritten scratch (this cost me some debugging time).
- It forces critical exceptions to be a special case handled
differently from even machine check and debug level exceptions.
- It didn't occur to me that it was possible to make this work at all
(by doing a final "ld r13, PACA_EXCRIT+EX_R13(r13)") until after
I made (most of) this patch. :-)
It might be worth investigating using a load rather than SPRG on return
from all exceptions (except TLB misses where the scratch never leaves
the SPRG) -- it could save a few cycles. Until then, let's stick with
SPRG for all exceptions.
Since we cannot use SPRG4-7 for scratch without corrupting the state of
a KVM guest, move VDSO to SPRG7 on book3e. Since neither SPRG4-7 nor
critical interrupts exist on book3s, SPRG3 is still used for VDSO
there.

Once special level interrupts are supported, we may take nested TLB
misses -- so allow the same thread to acquire the lock recursively.
The lock will not be effective against the nested TLB miss handler
trying to write the same entry as the interrupted TLB miss handler, but
that's also a problem on non-threaded CPUs that lack TLB write
conditional. This will be addressed in the patch that enables crit/mc
support by invalidating the TLB on return from level exceptions.
