Most of the code executing SMP initialization is common and should be merged to reduce discrepancies between ACPI and DT initialization and to have code initializing cpus in a single common place in the kernel. This patch refactors arm64 SMP cpus initialization code to merge ACPI and DT boot paths in a common file and to create sanity checks that can be reused by both boot methods. Current code assumes PSCI is the only available boot method when arm64 boots with ACPI; this can be easily extended if/when the ACPI parking protocol is merged into the kernel. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ARM64 CPU operations such as cpu_init and cpu_init_idle take a struct device_node pointer as a parameter, which corresponds to the device tree node of the logical cpu on which the operation has to be applied. With the advent of ACPI on arm64, where MADT static table entries are used to initialize cpus, the device tree node parameter in cpu_ops hooks become useless when booting with ACPI, since in that case cpu device tree nodes are not present and can not be used for cpu initialization. The current cpu_init hook requires a struct device_node pointer parameter because it is called while parsing the device tree to initialize CPUs, when the cpu_logical_map (that is used to match a cpu node reg property to a device tree node) for a given logical cpu id is not set up yet. This means that the cpu_init hook cannot rely on the of_get_cpu_node function to retrieve the device tree node corresponding to the logical cpu id passed in as parameter, so the cpu device tree node must be passed in as a parameter to fix this catch-22 dependency cycle. This patch reshuffles the cpu_logical_map initialization code so that the cpu_init cpu_ops hook can safely use the of_get_cpu_node function to retrieve the cpu device tree node, removing the need for the device tree node pointer parameter. In the process, the patch removes device tree node parameters from all cpu_ops hooks, in preparation for SMP DT/ACPI cpus initialization consolidation. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The documented semantics of flush_cache_all are not possible to provide for arm64 (short of flushing the entire physical address space by VA), and there are currently no users; KVM uses VA maintenance exclusively, cpu_reset is never called, and the only two users outside of arch code cannot be built for arm64. While cpu_soft_reset and related functions (which call flush_cache_all) were thought to be useful for kexec, their current implementations only serve to mask bugs. For correctness kexec will need to perform maintenance by VA anyway to account for system caches, line migration, and other subtleties of the cache architecture. As the extent of this cache maintenance will be kexec-specific, it should probably live in the kexec code. This patch removes flush_cache_all, and related unused components, preventing further abuse. So the merge appeared fine, but the resulting code did not behave as expected. Commit 195daf665a62 ("watchdog: enable the new user interface of the watchdog mechanism") changes the semantics of watchdog_user_enabled, which thereafter is only used by the functions introduced by b3738d293233 ("watchdog: Add watchdog enable/disable all functions"). There further appears to be a distinct lack of serialization between setting and using watchdog_enabled, so perhaps we should wrap the {en,dis}able_all() things in watchdog_proc_mutex. This patch fixes a s2r failure reported by Michal; which I cannot readily explain. But this does make the code internally consistent again. This was discussed and reviewed at the time, however objections have come up since then as part of this discussion: http://lkml.kernel.org/g/20150511224646.GJ32500@ld-irv-0074 It seems the parties involved agree that "jedec,spi-nor" does a better job of capturing the fact that this is SPI-specific, not just any NOR flash. This binding was only merged for v4.1-rc1, so it's still OK to change the naming. At the same time, let's move the documentation to a better name. Next up: stop referring to code (drivers/mtd/devices/m25p80.c) from the documentation. It's USB ID is 04e8:8001, which unfortunately is already used by the Palm Visor driver for the Samsung I330 phone cradle. Having pl2303 or visor pick up this device ID results in conflicts with the usb-storage driver, which handles the newly released portable USB3 SSD. To work around this conflict, I've dug up a mailing list post [1] from a long time ago, in which a user posts the full USB descriptor information. The most specific value in this appears to be the interface class, which has value 255 (0xff). Since usb-storage requires an interface class of 0x8, I believe it's correct to disambiguate the two devices by matching on 0xff inside visor. A setup with several cameras and other devices can fill up the event ring as it is shared between all devices. This has occurred when uvcvideo queues 5 * 32TD URBs which then get cancelled when the video mode changes. The cancelled URBs are returned in the xhci interrupt context and blocks the interrupt handler from handling the new events. A full event ring will block xhci from scheduling traffic and affect all devices conneted to the xhci, will see errors such as Missed Service Intervals for isoc devices, and and Split transaction errors for LS/FS interrupt devices. Increasing the TRB_PER_SEGMENT will also increase the default endpoint ring size, which is welcome as for most isoc transfer we had to dynamically expand the endpoint ring anyway to be able to queue the 5 * 32TDs uvcvideo queues. When all goes well we receive only one success event for a TD, and move the dequeue pointer to the next TD. This fails if the TD consists of two TRBs and we get a transfer error on the first TRB, we will then see two events for that TD. Fix this by making sure the event we get is for the last TRB in that TD before moving the dequeue pointer to the next TD. Looking at the surrounding code, I found the same problem in all other composite gadget drivers in both the bind and unbind functions, as well as the udc platform driver 'remove' functions. Those will break if anyone uses the 'unbind' sysfs attribute to detach a device from a built-in driver. This patch removes the incorrect annotations from all the gadget drivers. Doing a proper fix would require much larger changes to the driver that is not really worth it when the usb-phy drivers are going to eventually get replaced with generic-phy drivers. To reproduce, use SMP with sending thread and completion pinned to different CPUs, or use PREEMPT_RT, and add the following delay just before the call to usb_ep_queue(): if (port->write_started > 0 && !list_empty(pool)) udelay(1000); To work around this problem, make sure that only one thread is running through the gs_start_tx() loop with an extra flag write_busy. Since gs_start_tx() is always called with the port lock held, no further synchronisation is needed. The original caller will continue through the loop when the request was successfully submitted. Jakub Kiciński observed that this patch can cause the pl011 driver to hang if if the only process with a pl011 port open is killed by a signal, pl011_shutdown() can get called with an arbitrary amount of data still in the FIFO. Calling _shutdown() with the TX FIFO non-empty is questionable behaviour and my itself be a bug. Since the affected patch was speculative anyway, and brings limited benefit, the simplest course is to remove the assumption that TXIS will always be left asserted after the port is shut down. This time I've decided to list the driver fixes in alphabetical order rather than 'randomly'. * axp288_adc - a recent change added a check for valid info masks when reading channels from consumer drivers. * bmp280 - temperature compensation was failing to read the tfine value, hence causing a temperature of 0 to always be returned and incorrect presure measurements. * cc10001 - Fix channel number mapping when some channels are reserved for remote CPUs. Fix an issue with the use of the power-up/power-down register (basically wrong polarity). Fix an issue due to the missinterpretting the return value from regulator_get_voltage. Add a delay before the start bit as recommended for the hardware to avoid data corruption. * hid pressure - fix channel spec of modfiied, but no modifier (which makes no sense!) * hid proximity - fix channel spec of modified, but no modifier (which makes no sense!). Fix a memory leak in the probe function. * mcp320x - occasional incorrect readings on dma using spi busses due to cacheline corruption. Fixed by forcing ___cacheline_aligned for the buffers. * mma9551 - buffer overrun fix (miss specified maximum length of buffers) * mma9553 - endian fix on status message. Add an enable element for activity channel. Input checking for activity period to avoid rather unpredictable results. * spmi-vadc - fix an overflow in the output value normalization seen on some boards. * st-snesors - oops due to use of a mutex that is not yet initialized during probe. * xilinx adc - Some wrong register addresses, a wrong address for vccaux channel, incorrect scale on VREFP and incorrect sign on VREFN.

This leads to convesion on the incorrect channel during triggered capture. Fix this by using a scan index to channel mapping encoded in the iio_chan_spec for this purpose while starting conversion on a particular ADC channel in trigger handler. Also, the channel_map is not really used anywhere but in probe(), so no need to keep track of it. Remove it from device structure. While here, add 1 to number of channels to register timestamp channel with the IIO core.
