Pull kconfig updates from Michal Marek:
"This is the kconfig part of kbuild for v3.12-rc1:
- post-3.11 search code fixes and micro-optimizations

Previously, it was possible to have more than one symbol with the
'option modules' attached to them, although only the last one would
in fact control tristates.
Since this does not make much sense, only allow at most one symbol to
control tristates.
Note: it is still possible to have more than one symbol that control

Currently, the 'MODULES' symbol is hard-coded to be the default symbol
that enables/disables tristates, if no other symbol was declared with
'option modules'.
While this used to be needed for the Linux kernel, we now have an
explicit 'option modules' attached to the 'MODULES' symbol (since
cset 11097a036), so we no longer need to special-case it in the
kconfig code.
Furthermore, kconfig is extensively used out of the Linux kernel, and
other projects may have another meaning for a symbol named 'MODULES'.
This patch changes the way we enable/disable tristates: if a symbol was
found with 'option modules' attached to it, then that symbol controls
enabling tristates. Otherwise, tristates are disabled, even if a symbol
named 'MODULES' exists.

Currently, the MODULES symbol is special-cased in different places in the
kconfig language. For example, if no symbol is defined to enable tristates,
then kconfig looks up for a symbol named 'MODULES', and forces the 'modules'
option onto that symbol.
This causes problems as such:
- since MODULES is special-cased, reading the configuration with
KCONFIG_ALLCONFIG set will forcibly set MODULES to be 'valid' (ie.
it has a valid value), when no such value was previously set. So
MODULES defaults to 'n' unless it is present in KCONFIG_ALLCONFIG
- other third-party projects may decide that 'MODULES' plays a different
role for them
This has been exposed by cset #cfa98f2e:
kconfig: do not override symbols already set
and reported by Stephen in:

As suggested by Sam, we explicitly define the MODULES symbol to be the
tristate-enabler. This will allow us to drop special-casing of MODULES
in the kconfig language, later.
(Note: this patch is not a fix to Stephen's issue, just a first step).

When a symbol changes type from tristate to bool, and was previously set to
'm', a subsequent silentoldconfig would warn about inconsistency, such as:

Since HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE changed from tristate to bool in aa8032b, it was
previously set to 'm' in auto.conf by the first allmodconfig+silentoldconfig,
but then was set to 'y' by the second allmodconfig. Then the second
silentoldconfig prints the warning.
The warning in this case is a spurious warning, which happens at the time
kconfig tries to detect symbols that have changed, to touch the empty
header files in include/config used for dependency-tracking by make.
Silence the warning when we read the old auto.conf file, since it is
perfectly legit that a symbol changed type since the previous call.

Script `config' relies on extensions of `GNU sed', and is thus not
working on all Unixes:
- in-place edition of files (-i), which can be replaced with
a temporary file;
- extended-regexps (-r), which can be split into basic regexps;
- single-line calls to `a' command, while some implementations
require a leading newline before the parameter.
Rewrite calls to `sed' to comply with POSIX interface, and move them
to helper functions.

Instead of using "long" for kconfig "hex" and "range" values, which may
change in size depending on the host architecture, use "long long". This
will allow values greater than INT_MAX on 32-bit hosts when cross
compiling.

This driver is used and tested on gta04 phone. It's using twl4030_madc
(similar to rx51 existing driver). Driver also implement charging and
discharging calibration data so user can define ranges and level.

This patch, originally authored by Arve Hjonnevag and Todd Poynor,
prevents the system from entering suspend mode until the power supply
plug, unplug, or any other change of state event is fully processed. This
guarantees that the screen lights up and displays the battery charging
state. The implementation uses the power supply wakeup_source object.

Add driver support for the Texas Instruments BQ24190 battery charger.
Some of the information provided by the device is about the charger and
other information is about the battery so create two power_supply objects
(one for each) and provide the appropriate information for each one.
The device has many fields that go beyond what is reasonable to report or
modify using the existing 'POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_*' properties so the driver
exports the register fields via sysfs. They are prefixed by 'f_' (for
'field') to make it easier to distinguish between a register field and a
"normal" sysfs file exported by the power_supply infrastructure.

Nearly all the other goldfish peripherals (mtd, keyboard, etc) have a
dependency on the main platform's GOLDFISH Kconfig item, but this one got
skipped. Even with consistency as a justification, there was initial
resistance[1] from some people to adding it however, as they wanted the
extra compile coverage.
Now, with CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST, we have the middle ground that will give
people the coverage who want it, and let those who don't want it to skip
ever seeing the option presented.

When adding cpuidle support to pSeries, we introduced two
regressions:
- The new cpuidle backend driver only works under hypervisors
supporting the "SLPLAR" option, which isn't the case of the
old POWER4 hypervisor and the HV "light" used on js2x blades
- The cpuidle driver registers fairly late, meaning that for
a significant portion of the boot process, we end up having
all threads spinning. This slows down the boot process and
increases the overall resource usage if the hypervisor has
shared processors.
This fixes both by implementing a "default" idle that will cede
to the hypervisor when possible, in a very simple way without
all the bells and whisles of cpuidle.

Pull Xen bug-fixes from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk:
"This pull I usually do after rc1 is out but because we have a nice
amount of fixes, some bootup related fixes for ARM, and it is early in
the cycle we figured to do it now to help with tracking of potential
regressions.
The simple ones are the ARM ones - one of the patches fell through the
cracks, other fixes a bootup issue (unconditionally using Xen
functions). Then a fix for a regression causing preempt count being
off (patch causing this went in v3.12).
Lastly are the fixes to make Xen PVHVM guests use PV ticketlocks (Xen
PV already does).
The enablement of that was supposed to be part of the x86 spinlock
merge in commit 816434ec4a67 ("The biggest change here are
paravirtualized ticket spinlocks (PV spinlocks), which bring a nice
speedup on various benchmarks...") but unfortunatly it would cause
hang when booting Xen PVHVM guests. Yours truly got all of the bugs
fixed last week and they (six of them) are included in this pull.
Bug-fixes:
- Boot on ARM without using Xen unconditionally
- On Xen ARM don't run cpuidle/cpufreq
- Fix regression in balloon driver, preempt count warnings
- Fixes to make PVHVM able to use pv ticketlock.
- Revert Xen PVHVM disabling pv ticketlock (aka, re-enable pv ticketlocks)"

Before this patch we would patch all of the pv_lock_ops sites
using alternative assembler. Then later in the bootup cycle
change the unlock_kick and lock_spinning to the Xen specific -
without re patching.
That meant that for the core of the kernel we would be running
with the baremetal version of unlock_kick and lock_spinning while
for modules we would have the proper Xen specific slowpaths.
As most of the module uses some API from the core kernel that ended
up with slowpath lockers waiting forever to be kicked (b/c they
would be using the Xen specific slowpath logic). And the
kick never came b/c the unlock path that was taken was the
baremetal one.
On PV we do not have the problem as we initialise before the
alternative code kicks in.
The fix is to make the updating of the pv_lock_ops function
be done before the alternative code starts patching.
Note that this patch fixes issues discovered by commit
f10cd522c5fbfec9ae3cc01967868c9c2401ed23.
("xen: disable PV spinlocks on HVM") wherein it mentioned
PV spinlocks cannot possibly work with the current code because they are
enabled after pvops patching has already been done, and because PV
spinlocks use a different data structure than native spinlocks so we
cannot switch between them dynamically.
The first problem is solved by this patch.
The second problem has been solved by commit
816434ec4a674fcdb3c2221a6dffdc8f34020550

The xen_lock_spinning has a check for the kicker interrupts
and if it is not initialized it will spin normally (not enter
the slowpath).
But for PVHVM case we would initialize the kicker interrupt
before the CPU came online. This meant that if the booting
CPU used a spinlock and went in the slowpath - it would
enter the slowpath and block forever. The forever part because
during bootup: the spinlock would be taken _before_ the CPU
sets itself to be online (more on this further), and we enter
to poll on the event channel forever.
The bootup CPU (see commit fc78d343fa74514f6fd117b5ef4cd27e4ac30236
"xen/smp: initialize IPI vectors before marking CPU online"
for details) and the CPU that started the bootup consult
the cpu_online_mask to determine whether the booting CPU should
get an IPI. The booting CPU has to set itself in this mask via:
set_cpu_online(smp_processor_id(), true);
However, if the spinlock is taken before this (and it is) and
it polls on an event channel - it will never be woken up as
the kernel will never send an IPI to an offline CPU.
Note that the PVHVM logic in sending IPIs is using the HVM
path which has numerous checks using the cpu_online_mask
and cpu_active_mask. See above mention git commit for details.
