* dt-bindings: Improve phandle-array schemasRob Herring2022-02-041-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 'phandle-array' type is a bit ambiguous. It can be either just an array of phandles or an array of phandles plus args. Many schemas for phandle-array properties aren't clear in the schema which case applies though the description usually describes it. The array of phandles case boils down to needing: items: maxItems: 1 The phandle plus args cases should typically take this form: items: - items: - description: A phandle - description: 1st arg cell - description: 2nd arg cell With this change, some examples need updating so that the bracketing of property values matches the schema. * dt-bindings: Drop redundant minItems/maxItemsRob Herring2021-06-211-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems. This condition is partially checked with the meta-schema already, but only if both 'minItems' and 'maxItems' are equal to the 'items' length. An improved meta-schema is pending. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | DT properties which can have multiple entries need to specify what the entries are and define how many entries there can be. In the case of only a single entry, just 'maxItems: 1' is sufficient. Add the missing entry constraints. These were found with a modified meta-schema. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where the size constraints are not defined such as common bindings, so the meta-schema can't be part of the normal checks. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In order to add meta-schema checks for additional/unevaluatedProperties being present, all schema need to make this explicit. * dt-bindings: Add missing 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring2020-10-071-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. This is in preparation to add a meta-schema to check for missing 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties'. This has been a constant source of review issues. * dt-bindings: Remove more cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'Rob Herring2020-06-111-12/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Another round of 'allOf' removals that came in this cycle. json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'. This behavior is now changed in the 2019-09 json-schema spec and '$ref' can be mixed with other keywords. The json-schema library doesn't yet support this, but the tooling now does a fixup for this and either way works. This has been a constant source of review comments, so let's change this treewide so everyone copies the simpler syntax. Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I need to create subnodes for drives connected to PATA host controllers, and this needs to be supported generally, so create a common YAML binding for "ide" that will support subnodes with ports. This has been designed as a subset of ata/ahci-platform.txt with the bare essentials and should be possible to extend or superset to cover the common bindings. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add support to get and control a list of resets for the device as optional and shared. These resets must be kept de-asserted until the device is enabled. This is specified as shared because some SoCs like UniPhier series have common reset controls with all ahci controller instances. However, according to Thierry's view, https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-ide/msg55357.html some hardware-specific drivers already use their own resets, and the common reset make a path to occur double controls of resets. The ahci_platform_get_resources() can get and control the reset only when the second argument includes AHCI_PLATFORM_GET_RESETS bit.
