* dt-bindings: display: ssd1307fb: Remove default width and height valuesJavier Martinez Canillas2023-06-151-4/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A default resolution in the ssd130x driver isn't set to an arbitrary 96x16 anymore. Instead is set to a width and height that's controller dependent. The datasheets for the chips describes the following display resolutions: - SH1106: 132 x 64 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED - SSD1305: 132 x 64 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED - SSD1306: 128 x 64 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED - SSD1307: 128 x 39 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED - SSD1309: 128 x 64 Dot Matrix OLED/PLED Update DT schema to reflect what the driver does and make its users aware. * dt-bindings: Fix SPI and I2C bus node names in examplesRob Herring2023-03-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | SPI and I2C bus node names are expected to be "spi" or "i2c", respectively, with nothing else, a unit-address, or a '-N' index. A pattern of 'spi0' or 'i2c0' or similar has crept in. Fix all these cases. Mostly scripted with the following commands: git grep -l '\si2c[0-9] {' Documentation/devicetree/ | xargs sed -i -e 's/i2c[0-9] {/i2c {/' git grep -l '\sspi[0-9] {' Documentation/devicetree/ | xargs sed -i -e 's/spi[0-9] {/spi {/' With this, a few errors in examples were exposed and fixed. * dt-bindings: display: use spi-peripheral-props.yamlKrzysztof Kozlowski2022-07-301-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of listing directly properties typical for SPI peripherals, reference the spi-peripheral-props.yaml schema. This allows using all properties typical for SPI-connected devices, even these which device bindings author did not tried yet. Remove the spi-* properties which now come via spi-peripheral-props.yaml schema, except for the cases when device schema adds some constraints like maximum frequency. While changing additionalProperties->unevaluatedProperties, put it in typical place, just before example DTS. The sitronix,st7735r references also panel-common.yaml and lists explicitly allowed properties, thus here reference only spi-peripheral-props.yaml for purpose of documenting the SPI slave device and bringing spi-max-frequency type validation. * dt-bindings: display: ssd1307fb: Extend schema for SPI controllersJavier Martinez Canillas2022-04-201-2/+40
| | | | | | | | | | | The Solomon SSD130x OLED displays can either have an I2C or SPI interface, add to the schema the properties and examples for OLED devices under SPI. * dt-bindings: display: ssd1307fb: Deprecate "-i2c" compatible stringsJavier Martinez Canillas2022-04-201-13/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current compatible strings for SSD130x I2C controllers contain both an "fb" and "-i2c" suffixes. It seems to indicate that are for a fbdev driver and also that are for devices that can be accessed over an I2C bus. But a DT is supposed to describe the hardware and not Linux implementation details. So let's deprecate those compatible strings and add new ones that only contain the vendor and device name, without any of these suffixes. These will just describe the device and can be matched by both I2C and SPI DRM drivers. The required properties should still be enforced for old ones. While being there, just drop the "sinowealth,sh1106-i2c" compatible string since that was never present in a released Linux version. * dt-bindings: display: ssd1307fb: Add entry for SINO WEALTH SH1106Chen-Yu Tsai2022-04-071-0/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The SINO WEALTH SH1106 is an OLED display driver that is somewhat compatible with the SSD1306. It supports a slightly wider display, at 132 instead of 128 pixels. The basic commands are the same, but the SH1106 doesn't support the horizontal or vertical address modes. Add a compatible string for it. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ssd130x DRM driver also makes use of this Device Tree binding to allow existing users of the fbdev driver to migrate without the need to change their Device Trees. Add myself as another maintainer of the binding, to make sure that I will be on Cc when patches are proposed for it.
