* hwmon: Add pwm-fan driverKamil Debski2014-08-041-0/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | The pwm-fan driver enables control of fans connected to PWM lines. This driver uses the PWM framework, so it is compatible with all PWM devices that provide drivers through the PWM framework. * hwmon: (pmbus) Add tps40422 front-end driverZhu, Richard \(NSN - CN/Beijing\)2014-08-042-3/+66
| | | | | | | | | | | | For TI power management chip TPS40422, READ_TEMPERATURE_2 command is supported on page 1 of the chip, but the original driver(pmbus.c) only tried to detect this command on page 0, this will lead to a result that the temperature sensor in page 1 couldn't be detected. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Updating the hysteresis value when updating the critical temperature limit was following the rule of 'least surprise'. However, it had the undesirable side effect of changing the hysteresis for all other attributes, which defeats the purpose of least surprise. In addition, it could result in invalid hysteresis values if the resulting hysteresis was too large. In such cases the resulting hysteresis ended up changed anyway, which again defeats the purpose. So drop that code and document the new behavior. Reviewed-by: Jean Delvare <jdelvare@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hysteresis register is shared among both temperature sensors. This means changing one also affects the other. To avoid confusion, established way to express this is to make only the first instance writable and keep all other instances as read-only. Otherwise users may be confused that changing the second writable value also affects the first, while it is more obvious that a writable value may affect a different read-only value. | * Add support for GMT G762/G763 PWM fan controllersArnaud Ebalard2013-06-271-0/+65
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | GMT G762/763 fan speed PWM controller is connected directly to a fan and performs closed-loop or open-loop control of the fan speed. Two modes - PWM or DC - are supported by the chip. Introduced driver provides various knobs to control the operations of the chip (via sysfs interface). Specific characteristics of the system can be passed either using board init code or via DT. Documentation for both the driver and DT bindings are also provided. | * hwmon: (ds1621) Remove detect functionRobert Coulson2013-06-271-13/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to a lack of device and vendor identification registers, the Dallas/Maxim DS16xx devices cannot be uniquely detected, sometimes resulting in false positives. Therefore, the detect function is being removed in favor of explicit device instantiation.
