dma_addr_t's can be either u32 or u64 depending on a CONFIG option.
There are a few hundred dma_addr_t's printed via either cast to unsigned
long long, unsigned long or no cast at all.
Add %pad to be able to emit them without the cast.
Update Documentation/printk-formats.txt too.

Documentation/vm/locking is a blast from the past. In the entire git
history, it has had precisely Three modifications. Two of those look to
be pure renames, and the third was from 2005.
The doc contains such gems as:
> The page_table_lock is grabbed while holding the
> kernel_lock spinning monitor.
> Page stealers hold kernel_lock to protect against a bunch of
> races.
Or this which talks about mmap_sem:
> 4. The exception to this rule is expand_stack, which just
> takes the read lock and the page_table_lock, this is ok
> because it doesn't really modify fields anybody relies on.
expand_stack() doesn't take any locks any more directly, and the
mmap_sem acquisition was long ago moved up in to the page fault code
itself.
It could be argued that we need to rewrite this, but it is dangerous to
leave it as-is. It will confuse more people than it helps.

This patch introduces new sysfs entries for users to control the policy of
in-place-updates, namely IPU, in f2fs.
Sometimes f2fs suffers from performance degradation due to its out-of-place
update policy that produces many additional node block writes.
If the storage performance is very dependant on the amount of data writes
instead of IO patterns, we'd better drop this out-of-place update policy.
This patch suggests 5 polcies and their triggering conditions as follows.
[sysfs entry name = ipu_policy]
0: F2FS_IPU_FORCE all the time,
1: F2FS_IPU_SSR if SSR mode is activated,
2: F2FS_IPU_UTIL if FS utilization is over threashold,
3: F2FS_IPU_SSR_UTIL if SSR mode is activated and FS utilization is over
threashold,
4: F2FS_IPU_DISABLE disable IPU. (=default option)
[sysfs entry name = min_ipu_util]
This parameter controls the threshold to trigger in-place-updates.
The number indicates percentage of the filesystem utilization, and used by
F2FS_IPU_UTIL and F2FS_IPU_SSR_UTIL policies.

Add infrastructure to handle distributor and cpu interface register
accesses through the KVM_{GET/SET}_DEVICE_ATTR interface by adding the
KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_DIST_REGS and KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_CPU_REGS groups
and defining the semantics of the attr field to be the MMIO offset as
specified in the GICv2 specs.
Missing register accesses or other changes in individual register access
functions to support save/restore of the VGIC state is added in
subsequent patches.

Support setting the distributor and cpu interface base addresses in the
VM physical address space through the KVM_{SET,GET}_DEVICE_ATTR API
in addition to the ARM specific API.
This has the added benefit of being able to share more code in user
space and do things in a uniform manner.
Also deprecate the older API at the same time, but backwards
compatibility will be maintained.

Support creating the ARM VGIC device through the KVM_CREATE_DEVICE
ioctl, which can then later be leveraged to use the
KVM_{GET/SET}_DEVICE_ATTR, which is useful both for setting addresses in
a more generic API than the ARM-specific one and is useful for
save/restore of VGIC state.
Adds KVM_CAP_DEVICE_CTRL to ARM capabilities.
Note that we change the check for creating a VGIC from bailing out if
any VCPUs were created, to bailing out if any VCPUs were ever run. This
is an important distinction that shouldn't break anything, but allows
creating the VGIC after the VCPUs have been created.

In doc, it said that 'Currently supported controllers - "memory"',
but actually we can use cgroup_disable=cpu,cpuset and all other
controllers, so this is confusing for cgroup users without much
cgroup knowledge. We need to make it clear.

Two concurrent calls to cmd_db2man may attempt to compress manual
pages generated by each other. gzip can then fail due to an input
file having already been compressed and removed.
Move the gzip command to the top-level mandocs target.

Trying to generate xhtml causes all functions to show up with a prefix
of "fsfunc" in the output, so just back off to html until someone
fixes the toolchain.
Note that this is not a problem with kernel-doc, it's an issue with
however "xmlto" renders xhtml output.

target's handling of metadata operation failures and running out of
space. A new 'error_if_no_space' feature was added to allow users to
error IOs rather than queue them when either the data or metadata

The cache's policy may have been established using the "default" alias,
which is currently the "mq" policy but the default policy may change in
the future. It is useful to know exactly which policy is being used.
Add a 'real' member to the dm_cache_policy_type structure and have the
"default" dm_cache_policy_type point to the real "mq"
dm_cache_policy_type. Update dm_cache_policy_get_name() to check if
real is set, if so report the name of the real policy (not the alias).

Improve cache_status to emit:
<metadata block size> <#used metadata blocks>/<#total metadata blocks>
<cache block size> <#used cache blocks>/<#total cache blocks>

Adding the block sizes allows for easier calculation of the overall size
of both the metadata and cache devices. Adding <#total cache blocks>
provides useful context for how much of the cache is used.
Unfortunately these additions to the status will require updates to
users' scripts that monitor the cache status. But these changes help
provide more comprehensive information about the cache device and will
simplify tools that are being developed to manage dm-cache devices --
because they won't need to issue 3 operations to cobble together the
information that we can easily provide via a single status ioctl.
While updating the status documentation in cache.txt spaces were
tabify'd.

Internally the mq policy maintains a promotion threshold variable. If
the hit count of a block not in the cache goes above this threshold it
gets promoted to the cache.
This patch introduces three new tunables that allow you to tweak the
promotion threshold by adding a small value. These adjustments depend
on the io type:
read_promote_adjustment: READ io, default 4
write_promote_adjustment: WRITE io, default 8
discard_promote_adjustment: READ/WRITE io to a discarded block, default 1
If you're trying to quickly warm a new cache device you may wish to
reduce these to encourage promotion. Remember to switch them back to
their defaults after the cache fills though.

If the pool runs out of data or metadata space, the pool can either
queue or error the IO destined to the data device. The default is to
queue the IO until more space is added.
An admin may now configure the pool to error IO when no space is
available by setting the 'error_if_no_space' feature when loading the
thin-pool table.

After getting warnings in an allyesconfig build[1] from this
driver, I decided to remind myself just how old it was, and
whether it warranted fixing. In the Kconfig help text, I found:
"This driver will eventually be phased out entirely"
Going back to the history archive, I see the line was added[2]
in Feb 2002, when we moved from v2.4.2.1 ---> v2.4.2.2
So, with over a decade of notification, and multiple major releases
since then, I think we can justify removing this. Currently we have
people wasting time building it during routine testing, and then
wasting more time re-researching the known reported warnings, only to
find that nobody really is willing to integrate the fixes[3] for it.
A quick search didn't seem to indicate any active user base for it.
If someone happens to have a quirky _old_ card that the eleven year
old "new" driver doesn't work with, then it is entirely reasonable
that they stick with a kernel version that predates this removal.

This adds pci_enable_msi_range(), which supersedes the pci_enable_msi()
and pci_enable_msi_block() MSI interfaces.
It also adds pci_enable_msix_range(), which supersedes the
pci_enable_msix() MSI-X interface.
The old interfaces have three categories of return values:
negative: failure; caller should not retry
positive: failure; value indicates number of interrupts that *could*
have been allocated, and caller may retry with a smaller request
zero: success; at least as many interrupts allocated as requested
It is error-prone to handle these three cases correctly in drivers.
The new functions return either a negative error code or a number of
successfully allocated MSI/MSI-X interrupts, which is expected to lead to
clearer device driver code.
pci_enable_msi(), pci_enable_msi_block() and pci_enable_msix() still exist
unchanged, but are deprecated and may be removed after callers are updated.

This creates an MSI-X counterpart for pci_msi_vec_count(). Device drivers
can use this function to obtain maximum number of MSI-X interrupts the
device supports and use that number in a subsequent call to
pci_enable_msix().
pci_msix_vec_count() supersedes pci_msix_table_size() and returns a
negative errno if device does not support MSI-X interrupts. After this
update, callers must always check the returned value.
The only user of pci_msix_table_size() was the PCI-Express port driver,
which is also updated by this change.

The new pci_msi_vec_count() interface makes pci_enable_msi_block_auto()
superfluous.
Drivers can use pci_msi_vec_count() to learn the maximum number of MSIs
supported by the device, and then call pci_enable_msi_block().
pci_enable_msi_block_auto() was introduced recently, and its only user is
the AHCI driver, which is also updated by this change.
