* ARM: pxa: remove use of symbol_get()Arnd Bergmann2023-08-021-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The spitz board file uses the obscure symbol_get() function to optionally call a function from sharpsl_pm.c if that is built. However, the two files are always built together these days, and have been for a long time, so this can be changed to a normal function call. * ARM: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König2023-03-171-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. * ARM: pxa: remove unused board filesArnd Bergmann2023-01-201-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The majority of all pxa board files has not been touched in a long time, and no users have spoken up in favor of keeping them around. This leaves only support for the platforms that were already converted to DT, as well as the gumstix and spitz/akita/borzoi machines that work in qemu and can still be converted to DT later. * ARM: pxa: fix GPIO double shiftsRobert Jarzmik2016-09-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The commit 9bf448c66d4b ("ARM: pxa: use generic gpio operation instead of gpio register") from Oct 17, 2011, leads to the following static checker warning: arch/arm/mach-pxa/spitz_pm.c:172 spitz_charger_wakeup() warn: double left shift '!gpio_get_value(SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT) << (1 << ((SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT) & 31))' As Dan reported, the value is shifted three times : - once by gpio_get_value(), which returns either 0 or BIT(gpio) - once by the shift operation '<<' - a last time by GPIO_bit(gpio) which is BIT(gpio) Therefore the calculation lead to a chained or operator of : - (1 << gpio) << (1 << gpio) = (2^gpio)^gpio = 2 ^ (gpio * gpio) It is be sheer luck the former statement works, only because each gpio used is strictly smaller than 6, and therefore 2^(gpio^2) never overflows a 32 bits value, and because it is used as a boolean value to check a gpio activation. As the xxx_charger_wakeup() functions are used as a true/false detection mechanism, take that opportunity to change their prototypes from integer return value to boolean one. A lot of activities this round including considerable API and behavior cleanups. * delayed_work combines a timer and a work item. The handling of the timer part has always been a bit clunky leading to confusing cancelation API with weird corner-case behaviors. delayed_work is updated to use new IRQ safe timer and cancelation now works as expected. * Another deficiency of delayed_work was lack of the counterpart of mod_timer() which led to cancel+queue combinations or open-coded timer+work usages. mod_delayed_work[_on]() are added. These two delayed_work changes make delayed_work provide interface and behave like timer which is executed with process context. * A work item could be executed concurrently on multiple CPUs, which is rather unintuitive and made flush_work() behavior confusing and half-broken under certain circumstances. This problem doesn't exist for non-reentrant workqueues. While non-reentrancy check isn't free, the overhead is incurred only when a work item bounces across different CPUs and even in simulated pathological scenario the overhead isn't too high. All workqueues are made non-reentrant. This removes the distinction between flush_[delayed_]work() and flush_[delayed_]_work_sync(). The former is now as strong as the latter and the specified work item is guaranteed to have finished execution of any previous queueing on return. * In addition to the various bug fixes, Lai redid and simplified CPU hotplug handling significantly. * Joonsoo introduced system_highpri_wq and used it during CPU hotplug. There are two merge commits - one to pull in IRQ safe timer from tip/timers/core and the other to pull in CPU hotplug fixes from wq/for-3.6-fixes as Lai's hotplug restructuring depended on them." Fixed a number of trivial conflicts, but the more interesting conflicts were silent ones where the deprecated interfaces had been used by new code in the merge window, and thus didn't cause any real data conflicts. Tejun pointed out a few of them, I fixed a couple more. * 'for-3.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tj/wq: (46 commits) workqueue: remove spurious WARN_ON_ONCE(in_irq()) from try_to_grab_pending() workqueue: use cwq_set_max_active() helper for workqueue_set_max_active() workqueue: introduce cwq_set_max_active() helper for thaw_workqueues() workqueue: remove @delayed from cwq_dec_nr_in_flight() workqueue: fix possible stall on try_to_grab_pending() of a delayed work item workqueue: use hotcpu_notifier() for workqueue_cpu_down_callback() workqueue: use __cpuinit instead of __devinit for cpu callbacks workqueue: rename manager_mutex to assoc_mutex workqueue: WORKER_REBIND is no longer necessary for idle rebinding workqueue: WORKER_REBIND is no longer necessary for busy rebinding workqueue: reimplement idle worker rebinding workqueue: deprecate __cancel_delayed_work() workqueue: reimplement cancel_delayed_work() using try_to_grab_pending() workqueue: use mod_delayed_work() instead of __cancel + queue workqueue: use irqsafe timer for delayed_work workqueue: clean up delayed_work initializers and add missing one workqueue: make deferrable delayed_work initializer names consistent workqueue: cosmetic whitespace updates for macro definitions workqueue: deprecate system_nrt[_freezable]_wq workqueue: deprecate flush[_delayed]_work_sync() ...

Mark them deprecated and convert all users to flush[_delayed]_work(). If you're cc'd and wondering what's going on: Now all workqueues are non-reentrant and the regular flushes guarantee that the work item is not pending or running on any CPU on return, so there's no reason to use the sync flushes at all and they're going away. * platform-drivers: move probe to .devinit.text in arch/armUwe Kleine-König2010-03-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A pointer to a probe callback is passed to the core via platform_driver_register and so the function must not disappear when the .init sections are discarded. Otherwise (if also having HOTPLUG=y) unbinding and binding a device to the driver via sysfs will result in an oops as does a device being registered late. An alternative to this patch is using platform_driver_probe instead of platform_driver_register plus removing the pointer to the probe function from the struct platform_driver. * [ARM] pxa/sharpsl_pm: zaurus c3000 aka spitz: fix resumePavel Machek2009-09-071-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | sharpsl_pm.c code tries to read battery state very early during resume, but those battery meters are connected on SPI and that's only resumed way later. Replace the check with simple checking of battery fatal signal, that actually works at this stage. * [ARM] pxa/sharpsl_pm: cleanup of gpio-related code.Dmitry Eremin-Solenikov2009-06-111-3/+11
| | | | | | | | | | Replace calls to pxa_gpio_mode with respective gpio_request() / gpio_direction_input(). In principle these calls can be dropped as the only use of those GPIO are IRQs and IRQ code does setup GPIO correctly. * [ARM] pxa: separate definitions from pxa-regs.h and remove it finallyEric Miao2009-03-091-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The remaining registers are separated into: - <mach/regs-ost.h> - <mach/regs-rtc.h> - <mach/regs-intc.h> and then we can remove pxa-regs.h completely. Instead of #include this file, let's: 1. include the specific <mach/regs-*.h> with care (if that's absolutely necessary) 2. define the registers in the driver, make cleanly defined API to expose the register access to external with sufficient reason Signed-off-by: Eric Miao <eric.miao@marvell.com>
* [ARM] pxa: fix the corgi_ssp.c dependency issue in {corgi,spitz}_defconfigEric Miao2008-10-211-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | Separate building of corgi_ssp.c, and introduce a new hidden config option CONFIG_CORGI_SSP_DEPRECATED for this. Aslo mark corgi_ts.c and corgi_bl.c as deprecated. This unbreaks the legacy configs in {corgi,spitz}_defconfig, however, SPI based ADS7846 touchscreen driver and a new SPI-based corgi_lcd.c driver with integrated backlight support are recommended.
