This means the guest is either unaffected or not mitigated. This results in a nice simplification of the mitigation space, and the removal of a lot of code that was never really used anyway. Although the plethora of command-line options need to stick around for backwards compatibility, the default-on CONFIG options that depend on EXPERT can be dropped, as the mitigations only do anything if the system is vulnerable, a mitigation is available and the command-line hasn't disabled it. This requires some pretty invasive changes to our data structures, which moves the vmid and pgd pointers into a separate structure and change pretty much all of our mmu code to operate on this structure instead. The new structure is called struct kvm_s2_mmu. There is no intended functional change by this patch alone. Using these for __bp_harden_hyp_vecs is more involved than for most symbols as this symbol is annotated quite unusually as rather than just have the explicit symbol we define _start and _end symbols which we then use to compute the length. This does not play at all nicely with the new style macros. Since the size of the vectors is a known constant which won't vary the simplest thing to do is simply to drop the separate _start and _end symbols and just use a #define for the size. This code lives in its own section with start and end markers so we can map it to EL2. The compiler may decide not to inline static-inline functions from the header file. It may also decide not to put these out-of-line functions in the same section, meaning they aren't mapped when called at EL2. Clang-9 does exactly this with __kern_hyp_va() and a few others when x18 is reserved for the shadow call stack. Add the additional __always_ hint to all the static-inlines that are called from a hyp file. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In preparation for nested virtualization where we are going to have more than a single VMID per VM, let's factor out the VMID data into a separate VMID data structure and change the VMID allocator to operate on this new structure instead of using a struct kvm. This also means that udate_vttbr now becomes update_vmid, and that the vttbr itself is generated on the fly based on the stage 2 page table base address and the vmid. We cache the physical address of the pgd when allocating the pgd to avoid doing the calculation on every entry to the guest and to avoid calling into potentially non-hyp-mapped code from hyp/EL2. If we wanted to merge the VMID allocator with the arm64 ASID allocator at some point in the future, it should actually become easier to do that after this patch. Note that to avoid mapping the kvm_vmid_bits variable into hyp, we simply forego the masking of the vmid value in kvm_get_vttbr and rely on update_vmid to always assign a valid vmid value (within the supported range). Instead of statically defining the table helpers based on the page table levels, we now check the page table levels in the helpers to do the right thing. In effect, it simply converts the macros to static inline functions. We don't have a struct mm to pass (and neither does the kernel most of the time, but still...), and the 32bit code has all kind of cache maintenance that doesn't make sense on ARMv7+ when MP extensions are mandatory (which is the case when the VEs are present). Let's bite the bullet and provide our own implementations. The only bit of architectural code left has to do with building the table entry itself (arm64 having up to 52bit PA, arm lacking PUD level). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Up to ARMv8.3, the combinaison of Stage-1 and Stage-2 attributes results in the strongest attribute of the two stages. This means that the hypervisor has to perform quite a lot of cache maintenance just in case the guest has some non-cacheable mappings around. ARMv8.4 solves this problem by offering a different mode (FWB) where Stage-2 has total control over the memory attribute (this is limited to systems where both I/O and instruction fetches are coherent with the dcache). This is achieved by having a different set of memory attributes in the page tables, and a new bit set in HCR_EL2. On such a system, we can then safely sidestep any form of dcache management.
