0698fac4ac2a ("efi/arm: Clean EFI stub exit code from cache instead of avoiding it")
introduced a PC-relative reference to 'call_cache_fn' into
efi_enter_kernel(), which lives way at the end of head.S. In some cases,
the ARM version of the ADR instruction does not have sufficient range,
resulting in a build error:
arch/arm/boot/compressed/head.S:1453: Error: invalid constant (fffffffffffffbe4) after fixup
ARM defines an alternative with a wider range, called ADRL, but this does
not exist for Thumb-2. At the same time, the ADR instruction in Thumb-2
has a wider range, and so it does not suffer from the same issue.
So let's switch to ADRL for ARM builds, and keep the ADR for Thumb-2 builds.

Currently there are many platforms that dont enable ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL
but required to define quite similar fallback stubs for special page
table entry helpers such as pte_special() and pte_mkspecial(), as they
get build in generic MM without a config check. This creates two
generic fallback stub definitions for these helpers, eliminating much
code duplication.
mips platform has a special case where pte_special() and pte_mkspecial()
visibility is wider than what ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL enablement requires.
This restricts those symbol visibility in order to avoid redefinitions
which is now exposed through this new generic stubs and subsequent build
failure. arm platform set_pte_at() definition needs to be moved into a
C file just to prevent a build failure.

There are many places where all basic VMA access flags (read, write,
exec) are initialized or checked against as a group. One such example
is during page fault. Existing vma_is_accessible() wrapper already
creates the notion of VMA accessibility as a group access permissions.
Hence lets just create VM_ACCESS_FLAGS (VM_READ|VM_WRITE|VM_EXEC) which
will not only reduce code duplication but also extend the VMA
accessibility concept in general.

There are many platforms with exact same value for VM_DATA_DEFAULT_FLAGS
This creates a default value for VM_DATA_DEFAULT_FLAGS in line with the
existing VM_STACK_DEFAULT_FLAGS. While here, also define some more
macros with standard VMA access flag combinations that are used
frequently across many platforms. Apart from simplification, this
reduces code duplication as well.

The code in the Corgi backlight driver can be considerably
simplified by moving to GPIO descriptors and lookup tables
from the board files instead of passing GPIO numbers using
the old API.
Make sure to encode inversion semantics for the Akita and
Spitz platforms inside the GPIO lookup table and drop the
custom inversion semantics from the driver.
All in-tree users are converted in this patch.

The PWM backlight still supports passing a enable GPIO line as
platform data using the legacy <linux/gpio.h> API.
It turns out that ever board using this mechanism except one
is pass .enable_gpio = -1. So we drop all these cargo-culted -1's
from all instances of this platform data in the kernel.
The remaning board, Palm TC, is converted to pass a machine
descriptior table with the "enable" GPIO instead, and delete the
platform data entry for enable_gpio and the code handling it
and things should work smoothly with the new API.

"This is the bulk of GPIO development for the v5.7 kernel cycle.
Core and userspace API:
- The userspace API KFIFOs have been imoproved with locks that do not
block interrupts. This makes us better at getting events to
userspace without blocking or disturbing new events arriving in the
same time. This was reviewed by the KFIFO maintainer Stefani. This
is a generic improvement which paves the road for similar
improvements in other subsystems.
- We provide a new ioctl() for monitoring changes in the line
information, such as when multiple clients are taking lines and
giving them back, possibly reconfiguring them in the process: we
can now monitor that and not get stuck with stale static
information.
- An example tool 'gpio-watch' is provided to showcase this
functionality.
- Timestamps for events are switched to ktime_get_ns() which is
monotonic. We previously had a 'realtime' stamp which could move
forward and *backward* in time, which probably would just cause
silent bugs and weird behaviour. In the long run we see two
relevant timestamps: ktime_get_ns() or the timestamp sometimes
provided by the GPIO hardware itself, if that exists.
- Device Tree overlay support for GPIO hogs. On systems that load
overlays, these overlays can now contain hogs, and will then be
respected.
- Handle pin control interaction with nonexisting pin ranges in the
GPIO library core instead of in the individual drivers.
New drivers:
- New driver for the Mellanox BlueField 2 GPIO controller.
Driver improvements:
- Introduce the BGPIOF_NO_SET_ON_INPUT flag to the generic MMIO GPIO
library and use this flag in the MT7621 driver.
- Texas Instruments OMAP CPU power management improvements, such as
blocking of idle on pending GPIO interrupts"

impd1_probe() fills in the GPIO lookup table by manually populating an
array of gpiod_lookup structures. Use the existing GPIO_LOOKUP() helper
macro instead, to relax a dependency on the gpiod_lookup structure's
member names.

We need to check for errors when calling cpu_pm_enter() and
cpu_cluster_pm_enter(). And we need to bail out on errors as
otherwise we can enter a deeper idle state when not desired.
I'm not aware of the lack of error handling causing issues yet,
but we need this at least for blocking deeper idle states when
a GPIO instance has pending interrupts.

fixes for existing machines for all the usual platforms: qcom,

uniphier, rockchip, exynos, ux500, mvebu, tegra, stm32, renesas,
sunxi, broadcom, omap, and versatile.
The conversion of binding files to machine-readable yaml format
continues, along with fixes found during the validation. Andre
Przywara takes over maintainership for the old Calxeda Highbank

The OMAP2+ platforms see a continued move from platform data into dts

Drop remaining legacy platform data for cpsw and edma
With a non-critical clock fix for dm814x ethernet, we can update ti81xx
for cpsw ethernet and edma to probe them with ti-sysc interconnect
target module driver and device tree data. And we can drop the related
remaining platform data for cpsw and edma.

dm816x similar to what we have for dm814x.
Let's initially keep the legacy "ti,hwmods" peroperty, it will be
removed for all ti81xx in a later patch.
Note that as we now also start using the clkctrl clock binding on
dm816x, the board specific dts files must also have compatible
"ti,dm816". This is needed for the clkctrl clocks to probe properly,
so any out of tree dts files may need to be updated accordingly.

Drop legacy platform data for omaps for v5.7
This series of changes continues dropping legacy platform data for
omaps by updating devices to probe with ti-sysc interconnect target
module driver:
- Update omap4, omap5, am437x, and dra7 display subsystem (DSS)
to probe with device tree data only
- Update am335x, am437x and dra7 to probe EDMA to probe with
device tree data only
- Drop legacy platform data for am335x and am437x PRUSS as the
current code just keeps the devices in reset
- Drop legacy platform data for omap4 DSP and IPU as the current
code just keeps the devices in reset
- Configure am437x and dra7 PRU-ICSS to probe with device tree
data
For the dropped omap4 DSP and IPU platform data, there will be patches
coming later on to configure the accelerators using the omap remoteproc
bindings so hopefully folks can actually use these devices eventually.

We are missing alwon ethernet clock for dm814x and this prevents us
from probing the CPSW with device tree only data. Looks like Ethernet
currently only works if it has been enabled in the bootloader.
Looks like relying on the bootloader clocks is not an issue with the
mainline kernel currently, but it will be an issue when configuring
CPSW Ethernet to probe with device tree data only as we will be managing
the clocks.

We can now probe devices with device tree only configuration using
ti-sysc interconnect target module driver. Let's configure the
module, but keep the legacy "ti,hwmods" peroperty to avoid new boot
time warnings. The legacy property will be removed in later patches
together with the legacy platform data.
Let's also correct the custom node name to use generic node name dma.

The AM57xx family of SoCs contains two identical PRU-ICSS instances
that have a very unique SYSC register. The IPs do not have any
PRCM reset lines unlike those on AM33xx/AM437x SoCs. Add the PRUSS
interconnect target-module nodes with all the required properties.
Each of the PRUSS devices themselves shall be added as child nodes
to the corresponding interconnect node in the future. The PRU-ICSS
instances are only available on AM57xx family of SoCs and are not
supported on DRA7xx family of SoCs in general, so the target module
nodes are added in a separate dtsi file. This new dtsi file is
included in all the AM57xx SoC dtsi files, so the nodes are
automatically inherited and enabled on all AM57xx boards.

The AM437x family of SoCs contains two dissimilar PRU-ICSS instances,
but leverage a common reset line and SYSCFG from the larger PRU-ICSS1
instance. This SYSC register has also very unique bit-fields. Both
the IPs require the PRCM reset to be deasserted to be able to access
any registers. Add a common PRUSS interconnect target-module with all
the required properties.
The PRUSS devices themselves shall be added as child nodes to this
interconnect node in the future. The PRU-ICSS instances are not
supported on AM4372 SoC though in the AM437x family, so the target
module node should be disabled in any derivative board files that
use this SoC.

AM3351/AM3352/AM3354 SoCs though in the AM33xx family, so the
target module node should be disabled in derivative board files
that use any of these SoCs.

The OMAP4 IPU hwmod is currently not used in DT, and the new DTS
node shall be added as per the new OMAP remoteproc bindings with
the underneath MMU device relying on the ti-sysc infrastructure.
Drop the legacy hwmod data for OMAP4 IPU as this will not be used
going forward.

updated as per the new OMAP remoteproc bindings with the
underneath MMU device relying on the ti-sysc infrastructure.
Drop the legacy hwmod data for the DSP device along with the
custom ti,hwmods property. They have to be dropped together
since the early platform data init code is based on the custom
ti,hwmods property.
