* ia64: don't use module_init in non-modular sim/simscsi.c codePaul Gortmaker2015-06-161-10/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The simscsi.o is built for HP_SIMSCSI -- which is bool, and hence this code is either present or absent. It will never be modular, so using module_init as an alias for __initcall can be somewhat misleading. Fix this up now, so that we can relocate module_init from init.h into module.h in the future. If we don't do this, we'd have to add module.h to obviously non-modular code, and that would be a worse thing. Note that direct use of __initcall is discouraged, vs. one of the priority categorized subgroups. As __initcall gets mapped onto device_initcall, our use of device_initcall directly in this change means that the runtime impact is zero -- it will remain at level 6 in initcall ordering. And since it can't be modular, we remove all the __exitcall stuff related to module_exit() -- it is dead code that won't ever be executed. * [IA64] hpsim: Fix check for overlong simscsi prefix.Chen Gang2013-06-041-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | When "strlen(s) > MAX_ROOT_LEN", it has already said to use the default value, but in fact, it still use the input value. If happens, next sprintf() for 'fname' in simscsi_queuecommand_lck() may be memory overflow. Signed-off-by: Chen Gang <gang.chen@asianux.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
* SCSI host lock push-downJeff Garzik2010-11-161-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the mid-layer's ->queuecommand() invocation from being locked with the host lock to being unlocked to facilitate speeding up the critical path for drivers who don't need this lock taken anyway. The patch below presents a simple SCSI host lock push-down as an equivalent transformation. No locking or other behavior should change with this patch. All existing bugs and locking orders are preserved. Additionally, add one parameter to queuecommand, struct Scsi_Host * and remove one parameter from queuecommand, void (*done)(struct scsi_cmnd *) Scsi_Host* is a convenient pointer that most host drivers need anyway, and 'done' is redundant to struct scsi_cmnd->scsi_done. Minimal code disturbance was attempted with this change. Most drivers needed only two one-line modifications for their host lock push-down. * [SCSI] remove use_sg_chainingJames Bottomley2008-01-301-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | With the sg table code, every SCSI driver is now either chain capable or broken (or has sg_tablesize set so chaining is never activated), so there's no need to have a check in the host template. Also tidy up the code by moving the scatterlist size defines into the SCSI includes and permit the last entry of the scatterlist pools not to be a power of two. * [SCSI] add use_sg_chaining option to scsi_host_templateFUJITA Tomonori2007-10-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This option is true if a low-level driver can support sg chaining. This will be removed eventually when all the drivers are converted to support sg chaining. q->max_phys_segments is set to SCSI_MAX_SG_SEGMENTS if false. * [IA64] Allow simulator to use bigger disksPeter Chubb2005-10-251-5/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | The simscsi code at present overflows an int if it's given a large disk image. The attached patch increases the possible size to 128G. While it's unlikely that anyone will want to use SKI with such a large drive, the same framework is currently being used for various virtualisation experiments. * [IA64] Fix simscsi for new SCSI midlayerPeter Chubb2005-09-221-6/+23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The sd driver now uses scsi_execute_req() for almost everything. scsi_execute_req() converts requests into scatterlists. Fix the HP SCSI disk simulator to understand scatterlists for more commands. Without this patch the current kernel will not boot on the simulator (the disks are always detected as having no sectors, and so cannot be mounted). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
