Pull uaccess.h prepwork from Al Viro:
"Preparations to tree-wide switch to use of linux/uaccess.h (which,
obviously, will allow to start unifying stuff for real). The last step
there, ie
PATT='^[[:blank:]]*#[[:blank:]]*include[[:blank:]]*<asm/uaccess.h>'
sed -i -e "s!$PATT!#include <linux/uaccess.h>!" \
`git grep -l "$PATT"|grep -v ^include/linux/uaccess.h`
is not taken here - I would prefer to do it once just before or just
after -rc1. However, everything should be ready for it"
* 'work.uaccess2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs:
remove a stray reference to asm/uaccess.h in docs
sparc64: separate extable_64.h, switch elf_64.h to it

mips: separate extable.h, switch module.h to it
x86: separate extable.h, switch sections.h to it
remove stray include of asm/uaccess.h from cacheflush.h
mn10300: remove a bogus processor.h->uaccess.h include

When doing an nmi backtrace of many cores, most of which are idle, the
output is a little overwhelming and very uninformative. Suppress
messages for cpus that are idling when they are interrupted and just
emit one line, "NMI backtrace for N skipped: idling at pc 0xNNN".
We do this by grouping all the cpuidle code together into a new
.cpuidle.text section, and then checking the address of the interrupted
PC to see if it lies within that section.
This commit suitably tags x86 and tile idle routines, and only adds in
the minimal framework for other architectures.

nn10300 has a dependency on mc146818_get_time/mc146818_set_time,
which we want to move from the mc146818rtc.h header into the
rtc subsystem, which in turn is not usable on mn10300.
This changes mn10300 to use the modern rtc-cmos driver instead
of the old RTC driver, and that in turn lets us completely
remove the read_persistent_clock/update_persistent_clock callbacks.

The genrtc driver serves no purpose on mn10300 because it drives the
same hardware as the original rtc.c driver, and the newer rtc-generic.c
or rtc-cmos.c drivers on architectures that use the asm-generic/rtc.h
header.
I assume it was initially only added for completeness when the
mn10300 port was done, but the older rtc.c driver was always used
instead.
We can also stop include asm-generic/rtc.h now, because we
just call mc146818_set_time() directly.
It would be nice to change the architecture to use the rtc-cmos driver
next, and remove support for the old rtc driver as well.

We've had the thread info allocated together with the thread stack for
most architectures for a long time (since the thread_info was split off
from the task struct), but that is about to change.
But the patches that move the thread info to be off-stack (and a part of
the task struct instead) made it clear how confused the allocator and
freeing functions are.
Because the common case was that we share an allocation with the thread
stack and the thread_info, the two pointers were identical. That
identity then meant that we would have things like
ti = alloc_thread_info_node(tsk, node);
...
tsk->stack = ti;
which certainly _worked_ (since stack and thread_info have the same
value), but is rather confusing: why are we assigning a thread_info to
the stack? And if we move the thread_info away, the "confusing" code
just gets to be entirely bogus.
So remove all this confusion, and make it clear that we are doing the
stack allocation by renaming and clarifying the function names to be
about the stack. The fact that the thread_info then shares the
allocation is an implementation detail, and not really about the
allocation itself.
This is a pure renaming and type fix: we pass in the same pointer, it's
just that we clarify what the pointer means.
The ia64 code that actually only has one single allocation (for all of
task_struct, thread_info and kernel thread stack) now looks a bit odd,
but since "tsk->stack" is actually not even used there, that oddity
doesn't matter. It would be a separate thing to clean that up, I
intentionally left the ia64 changes as a pure brute-force renaming and
type change.

accept task_struct as a parameter.

* arm: fix the comment in vfp_thread_copy

Let the non boot cpus call into idle with the corresponding hotplug state, so
the hotplug core can handle the further bringup. That's a first step to
convert the boot side of the hotplugged cpus to do all the synchronization
with the other side through the state machine. For now it'll only start the
hotplug thread and kick the full bringup of the cpu.

Migrate mn10300 driver to the new 'set-state' interface provided by
clockevents core, the earlier 'set-mode' interface is marked obsolete
now.
This also enables us to implement callbacks for new states of clockevent
devices, for example: ONESHOT_STOPPED.
We weren't doing anything in the ->set_mode() callback. So, this patch
doesn't provide any set-state callbacks.

If an attacker can cause a controlled kernel stack overflow, overwriting
the restart block is a very juicy exploit target. This is because the
restart_block is held in the same memory allocation as the kernel stack.
Moving the restart block to struct task_struct prevents this exploit by
making the restart_block harder to locate.
Note that there are other fields in thread_info that are also easy
targets, at least on some architectures.
It's also a decent simplification, since the restart code is more or less
identical on all architectures.

This fixes the problem that "init=" options may not be passed to kernel
correctly.
parse_mem_cmdline() of mn10300 arch gets rid of "mem=" string from
redboot_command_line. Then init_setup() parses the "init=" options from
static_command_line, which is a copy of redboot_command_line, and keeps
the pointer to the init options in execute_command variable.
Since the commit 026cee0 upstream (params: <level>_initcall-like kernel
parameters), static_command_line becomes overwritten by saved_command_line at
do_initcall_level(). Notice that saved_command_line is a command line
which includes "mem=" string.
As a result, execute_command may point to weird string by the length of
"mem=" parameter.
I noticed this problem when using the command line like this:
mem=128M console=ttyS0,115200 init=/bin/sh
Here is the processing flow of command line parameters.
start_kernel()
setup_arch(&command_line)
parse_mem_cmdline(cmdline_p)
* strcpy(boot_command_line, redboot_command_line);
* Remove "mem=xxx" from redboot_command_line.
* *cmdline_p = redboot_command_line;
setup_command_line(command_line) <-- command_line is redboot_command_line
* strcpy(saved_command_line, boot_command_line)
* strcpy(static_command_line, command_line)
parse_early_param()
strlcpy(tmp_cmdline, boot_command_line, COMMAND_LINE_SIZE);
parse_early_options(tmp_cmdline);
parse_args("early options", cmdline, NULL, 0, 0, 0, do_early_param);
parse_args("Booting ..", static_command_line, ...);
init_setup() <-- save the pointer in execute_command
rest_init()
kernel_thread(kernel_init, NULL, CLONE_FS | CLONE_SIGHAND);
At this point, execute_command points to "/bin/sh" string.
kernel_init()
kernel_init_freeable()
do_basic_setup()
do_initcalls()
do_initcall_level()
(*) strcpy(static_command_line, saved_command_line);
Here, execute_command gets to point to "200" string !!

Enable IRQs when calling schedule() for TIF_NEED_RESCHED and
do_notify_resume(). If interrupts are enabled during do_notify_resume(), a
warning can be seen (see lower down).
Whilst we're at it, resume_userspace can be made local to entry.S as it is not
called outside of there and it can be merged with the part of work_resched that
occurs after schedule() is called.

show_regs() is inherently arch-dependent but it does make sense to print
generic debug information and some archs already do albeit in slightly
different forms. This patch introduces a generic function to print debug
information from show_regs() so that different archs print out the same
information and it's much easier to modify what's printed.
show_regs_print_info() prints out the same debug info as dump_stack()
does plus task and thread_info pointers.
* Archs which didn't print debug info now do.
alpha, arc, blackfin, c6x, cris, frv, h8300, hexagon, ia64, m32r,
metag, microblaze, mn10300, openrisc, parisc, score, sh64, sparc,
um, xtensa
* Already prints debug info. Replaced with show_regs_print_info().
The printed information is superset of what used to be there.
arm, arm64, avr32, mips, powerpc, sh32, tile, unicore32, x86
* s390 is special in that it used to print arch-specific information
along with generic debug info. Heiko and Martin think that the
arch-specific extra isn't worth keeping s390 specfic implementation.
Converted to use the generic version.
Note that now all archs print the debug info before actual register
dumps.

Both dump_stack() and show_stack() are currently implemented by each
architecture. show_stack(NULL, NULL) dumps the backtrace for the
current task as does dump_stack(). On some archs, dump_stack() prints
extra information - pid, utsname and so on - in addition to the
backtrace while the two are identical on other archs.
The usages in arch-independent code of the two functions indicate
show_stack(NULL, NULL) should print out bare backtrace while
dump_stack() is used for debugging purposes when something went wrong,
so it does make sense to print additional information on the task which
triggered dump_stack().
There's no reason to require archs to implement two separate but mostly
identical functions. It leads to unnecessary subtle information.
This patch expands the dummy fallback dump_stack() implementation in
lib/dump_stack.c such that it prints out debug information (taken from
x86) and invokes show_stack(NULL, NULL) and drops arch-specific
dump_stack() implementations in all archs except blackfin. Blackfin's
dump_stack() does something wonky that I don't understand.
Debug information can be printed separately by calling
dump_stack_print_info() so that arch-specific dump_stack()
implementation can still emit the same debug information. This is used
in blackfin.
This patch brings the following behavior changes.
* On some archs, an extra level in backtrace for show_stack() could be
printed. This is because the top frame was determined in
dump_stack() on those archs while generic dump_stack() can't do that
reliably. It can be compensated by inlining dump_stack() but not
sure whether that'd be necessary.
* Most archs didn't use to print debug info on dump_stack(). They do
now.
An example WARN dump follows.

v2: CPU number added to the generic debug info as requested by s390
folks and dropped the s390 specific dump_stack(). This loses %ksp
from the debug message which the maintainers think isn't important
enough to keep the s390-specific dump_stack() implementation.
dump_stack_print_info() is moved to kernel/printk.c from
lib/dump_stack.c. Because linkage is per objecct file,
dump_stack_print_info() living in the same lib file as generic
dump_stack() means that archs which implement custom dump_stack()
- at this point, only blackfin - can't use dump_stack_print_info()
as that will bring in the generic version of dump_stack() too. v1
The v1 patch broke build on blackfin due to this issue. The build
breakage was reported by Fengguang Wu.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/signal
Pull signal handling cleanups from Al Viro:
"This is the first pile; another one will come a bit later and will
contain SYSCALL_DEFINE-related patches.
- a bunch of signal-related syscalls (both native and compat)
unified.
- a bunch of compat syscalls switched to COMPAT_SYSCALL_DEFINE
(fixing several potential problems with missing argument
validation, while we are at it)
- a lot of now-pointless wrappers killed
- a couple of architectures (cris and hexagon) forgot to save
altstack settings into sigframe, even though they used the
(uninitialized) values in sigreturn; fixed.
- microblaze fixes for delivery of multiple signals arriving at once
- saner set of helpers for signal delivery introduced, several
architectures switched to using those."

By the recent `switch flipping' patches we introduced a build failure
in the driver:
mn10300-serial.c:527:19: error: 'port' redeclared as different kind of symbol
I did not notice because I did not even find a compiler for that new
architecture. Hopefully everything is all right now as I cannot test
it.

Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use
tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many
call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more
tty_port_tty_get in those paths.
Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed:
tty_flip_buffer_push.
IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get
at all yet.
Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h
to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it
anyway.

One point is to have less places where we actually need tty pointer.
The other is that low_latency is bound to buffer processing and
buffers are now in tty_port. So it makes sense to move low_latency to
tty_port too.

This fixes up all of the smaller arches that had __dev* markings for
their platform-specific drivers.
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev*
markings need to be removed.
This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata,
__devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers.
Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me
in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand.

The debug polling interface for the SoC serial ports did not work in the case
where the serial ports were not also used as a console. In that case, the
uart driver startup function will not be called so tx and rx would not be
enabled in the hardware control register. Also, vdma interrupts would not be
enabled which the poll_get_char function relied on. This patch makes sure that
the rx and tx enables are set as a consequence of the uart set_termios call
which is the only initialization done for the debug polling interface. Also,
the poll_get_char now handles the case where vdma interrupts are not enabled.

The SoC serial port driver uses a high priority interrupt to handle tx of
characters in the tx ring buffer. The driver needs to disable/enable this IRQ
from outside of irq context. The original code to do this is not foolproof on
SMP machines because the IRQ running on one core could still access the serial
port for a short time after the driver running on another core disables the
interrupt. This patch adds a flag to tell the IRQ handler that the driver
wants to disable the interrupt. After seeing the flag, the IRQ handler will
immediately disable the interrupt and exit. After setting the flag, the driver
will wait for interrupt to be disabled by the IRQ handler.

The builtin SoC serial ports have no FIFOs and use a virtual DMA mechanism
based on high priority IRQs to avoid overruns. These high priority interrupts
are pinned to cpu#0 on SMP systems. This patch fixes a problem with SMP where
the set_intr_level() interface is used to set the priority for these IRQs. The
set_intr_level() function sets priority on the local cpu but on SMP systems,
this code may be run on some other cpu than the one handling the interrupts.
Instead of setting interrupt level explicitly, this patch uses a special
irq_chip for these interrupts so that the mask/unmask methods can set the
interrupt level implicitly.

The irq_set_affinity handler for the mn10300 cpu pic had some hard-coded IRQs
which were not to be migrated from one cpu to another. This patch cleans those
up by using a combination of IRQF_NOBALANCING and specialized irq chips with
no irq_set_affinity handler. This maintains the previous behavior by using
generic IRQ interfaces rather than hard coding IRQ numbers in the default
irq_set_affinity handler.
