* powerpc/85xx: Use kconfig fragmentsScott Wood2015-08-081-288/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Unify mpc85xx and corenet configs using fragments, to ease maintenance and avoid the sort of drift that the previous patch fixed. Hardware and software options are separated, with the hope that other embedded platforms could share the software options, and to make it easier to maintain custom/alternate configs that focus on either hardware or software options. Due to the previous patch, this patch should not affect the results of any of the affected defconfigs -- only how those results are achieved. The resulting config is more or less the union of the options that any of the configs previously selected. No attempt was made in this (or the previous) patch to edit out questionable options, but this patch will make it easier to do so in future patches. * powerpc/85xx: Make defconfigs consistentScott Wood2015-08-081-2/+38
| | | | | | | | | | The mpc85xx and corenet configs have many differences between them that can't be explained by the target hardware of each config. The next patch will consolidate these targets using kconfig fragments; this patch shows what the resulting defconfigs will look like (generated by using savedefconfig on a fragment-generated config). * powerpc: Update all configs using savedefconfigMichael Ellerman2015-01-201-46/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? The answer is that it can be confusing when the stored defconfig drifts too far from the generated result. * powerpc/85xx: introduce support for the Freescale / iVeia P1022RDKTimur Tabi2012-09-121-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Freescale / iVeia P1022RDK reference board is a small-factor board with a Freescale P1022 SOC. It includes: 1) 512 MB 64-bit DDR3-800 (max) memory 2) 8MB SPI serial flash memory for boot loader 3) Bootable 4-bit SD/MMC port 4) Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet connectors 5) One SATA port 6) Two USB ports 7) One PCIe x4 slot 8) DVI video connector 9) Audio input and output jacks, powered by a Wolfson WM8960 codec. Unlike the P1022DS, the P1022RDK does not have any localbus devices, presumably because of the localbus / DIU multiplexing restriction of the P1022 SOC. The patch merges sound/soc/imx into sound/soc/fsl, so that the possible code sharing and consolidation can happen. * powerpc/85xx: allow CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT to be selectableTimur Tabi2012-03-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the "select PHYS_64BIT" from the Kconfig entry for the P1022DS, so that large physical address support is a selectable option for non-CoreNet reference boards. The option is enabled in mpc85xx_[smp_]defconfig so that the default is unchanged. However, now it can be deselected. The P1022DS had this option defined because the default device tree for this board uses 36-bit addresses. This had the side-effect of forcing this option on for all boards that use mpc85xx_[smp_]defconfig. Some users may want to disable this feature to create an optimized configuration for boards with <= 2GB of RAM. * powerpc: Restore some misc devices to our configsStephen Rothwell2011-03-301-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Uwe Kleine-König reported: while working on an defconfig (arm/mx27) I noticed that just updating it[1] results in removing CONFIG_EEPROM_AT24=y. The reason is that since commit v2.6.36-5965-g5f2365d (misc devices: do not enable by default) MISC_DEVICES isn't enabled anymore by default. So all defconfigs that have CONFIG_SOME_SYMBOL=y (or =m) (with SOME_SYMBOL depending on MISC_DEVICES) but not CONFIG_MISC_DEVICES=y suffer from the same problem. This restores those misc devices to the powerpc defconfigs. * kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes2011-01-211-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it. * powerpc/85xx: Introduce support for the Freescale P1022DS reference boardTimur Tabi2010-08-041-22/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce basic support for the Freescale P1022DS reference board, based on the Freescale BSP for this board. This patch excludes the DIU, SSI, and MMC/SD drivers. Only a 36-bit DTS is provided. Update mpc86xx_smp_defconfig and mpc85xx_defconfig to support the P1022DS. This means enabling 64-bit physical address support, increasing the maximum zone order to 12 (to allow the DIU driver to allocate large chunks), and clean up the audio options to disable the deprecated OSS support.
