Pull dma-mapping updates from Christoph Hellwig:
- support DMA zones for arm64 systems where memory starts at > 4GB
(Baruch Siach, Catalin Marinas)
- support direct calls into dma-iommu and thus obsolete dma_map_ops for
many common configurations (Leon Romanovsky)
- add DMA-API tracing (Sean Anderson)
- remove the not very useful return value from various dma_set_* APIs
(Christoph Hellwig)
- misc cleanups and minor optimizations (Chen Y, Yosry Ahmed, Christoph
Hellwig)

The hardware DMA limit might not be power of 2. When RAM range starts
above 0, say 4GB, DMA limit of 30 bits should end at 5GB. A single high
bit can not encode this limit.
Use a plain address for the DMA zone limit instead.
Since the DMA zone can now potentially span beyond 4GB physical limit of
DMA32, make sure to use DMA zone for GFP_DMA32 allocations in that case.

page tables
For the same reason as 8xx, copy kernel PGD entries into all
PGDIRs in pgd_alloc() and preallocate execmem page tables before
creating new PGDs so that all PGD entries related to execmem are
copied by pgd_alloc().
This will help reduce the fast-path in TLBmiss handlers.

Preallocate execmem page tables before creating new PGDs so that
all PGD entries related to execmem can be copied in pgd_alloc().
On 8xx there are 32 Mbytes for execmem by default so this will use
32 kbytes.

This is due to virt_addr_valid() using high_memory before it is set.
high_memory is set in mem_init() using max_low_pfn, but max_low_pfn
is available long before, it is set in mem_topology_setup(). So just
like commit daa9ada2093e ("powerpc/mm: Fix boot crash with FLATMEM")
moved the setting of max_mapnr immediately after the call to
mem_topology_setup(), the same can be done for high_memory.

Pull mm updates from Andrew Morton:
"The usual shower of singleton fixes and minor series all over MM,
documented (hopefully adequately) in the respective changelogs.
Notable series include:
- Lucas Stach has provided some page-mapping cleanup/consolidation/
maintainability work in the series "mm/treewide: Remove pXd_huge()
API".

improve hugetlb allocation reliability.
- Liu Shixin has hit an I/O meltdown caused by readahead in a
memory-tight memcg. Addressed in the series "Fix I/O high when
memory almost met memcg limit".
- In the series "mm/filemap: optimize folio adding and splitting"
Kairui Song has optimized pagecache insertion, yielding ~10%
performance improvement in one test.

Patch series "Memory allocation profiling", v6.
Overview:
Low overhead [1] per-callsite memory allocation profiling. Not just for
debug kernels, overhead low enough to be deployed in production.

Usage:
kconfig options:
- CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING
- CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING_ENABLED_BY_DEFAULT
- CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING_DEBUG
adds warnings for allocations that weren't accounted because of a
missing annotation
sysctl:
/proc/sys/vm/mem_profiling
Runtime info:
/proc/allocinfo
Notes:
[1]: Overhead
To measure the overhead we are comparing the following configurations:
(1) Baseline with CONFIG_MEMCG_KMEM=n
(2) Disabled by default (CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING=y &&
CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING_BY_DEFAULT=n)
(3) Enabled by default (CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING=y &&
CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING_BY_DEFAULT=y)

To evaluate performance we implemented an in-kernel test executing
multiple get_free_page/free_page and kmalloc/kfree calls with allocation
sizes growing from 8 to 240 bytes with CPU frequency set to max and CPU
affinity set to a specific CPU to minimize the noise. Below are results

The next patch drops vmalloc.h from a system header in order to fix a
circular dependency; this adds it to all the files that were pulling it in
implicitly.

Pull powerpc updates from Michael Ellerman:
- Enable BPF Kernel Functions (kfuncs) in the powerpc BPF JIT.
- Allow per-process DEXCR (Dynamic Execution Control Register) settings
via prctl, notably NPHIE which controls hashst/hashchk for ROP
protection.
- Install powerpc selftests in sub-directories. Note this changes the
way run_kselftest.sh needs to be invoked for powerpc selftests.
- Change fadump (Firmware Assisted Dump) to better handle memory
add/remove.
- Add support for passing additional parameters to the fadump kernel.
- Add support for updating the kdump image on CPU/memory add/remove
events.
- Other small features, cleanups and fixes.

A bisect pointed to the breakage beginning with commit 9fee28baa601 ("powerpc:
implement the new page table range API").
Analysis of the oops pointed to a struct page with a corrupted
compound_head being loaded via page_folio() -> _compound_head() in
hash_page_do_lazy_icache().
The access by the mpic code is to an MMIO address, so the expectation
is that the struct page for that address would be initialised by
init_unavailable_range(), as pointed out by Aneesh.
Instrumentation showed that was not the case, which eventually lead to
the realisation that pfn_valid() was returning false for that address,
causing the struct page to not be initialised.
Because the system is using FLATMEM, the version of pfn_valid() in
memory_model.h is used:
static inline int pfn_valid(unsigned long pfn)
{
...
return pfn >= pfn_offset && (pfn - pfn_offset) < max_mapnr;
}
Which relies on max_mapnr being initialised. Early in boot max_mapnr is
zero meaning no PFNs are valid.
max_mapnr is initialised in mem_init() called via:
start_kernel()
mm_core_init() # init/main.c:928
mem_init()
But that is too late for the usage in init_unavailable_range() called via:
start_kernel()
setup_arch() # init/main.c:893
paging_init()
free_area_init()
init_unavailable_range()
Although max_mapnr is currently set in mem_init(), the value is actually
already available much earlier, as soon as mem_topology_setup() has
completed, which is also before paging_init() is called. So move the
initialisation there, which causes paging_init() to correctly initialise
the struct page and fixes the bug.
This bug seems to have been lurking for years, but went unnoticed
because the pre-folio code was inspecting the uninitialised page->flags
but not dereferencing it.
Thanks to Erhard and Aneesh for help debugging.

after init
Once init section is freed, attempting to patch init code
ends up in the weed.
Commit 51c3c62b58b3 ("powerpc: Avoid code patching freed init sections")
protected patch_instruction() against that, but it is the responsibility
of the caller to ensure that the patched memory is valid.
All callers have now been verified and fixed so the check
can be removed.
This improves ftrace activation by about 2% on 8xx.

"Compute Express Link (CXL) updates for 6.0:
- Introduce a 'struct cxl_region' object with support for
provisioning and assembling persistent memory regions.
- Introduce alloc_free_mem_region() to accompany the existing
request_free_mem_region() as a method to allocate physical memory
capacity out of an existing resource.
- Export insert_resource_expand_to_fit() for the CXL subsystem to
late-publish CXL platform windows in iomem_resource.

the kernel now validate the addr against high_memory value. This results
in the below BUG_ON with dax pfns.

Pass a boolean flag to indicate if swiotlb needs to be enabled based on
the addressing needs, and replace the verbose argument with a set of
flags, including one to force enable bounce buffering.
Note that this patch removes the possibility to force xen-swiotlb use
with the swiotlb=force parameter on the command line on x86 (arm and
arm64 never supported that), but this interface will be restored shortly.

Today, patch_instruction() assumes that it is called exclusively on
valid addresses, and only checks that it is not called on an init
address after init section has been freed.
Improve verification by calling kernel_text_address() instead.
kernel_text_address() already includes a verification of
initmem release.

At the time being, empty_zero_page[] is defined in each
platform head.S.
Define it in mm/mem.c instead, and put it in BSS section instead
of the DATA section. Commit 5227cfa71f9e ("arm64: mm: place
empty_zero_page in bss") explains why it is interesting to have
it in BSS.

After removal of DISCINTIGMEM the NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES and NUMA
configuration options are equivalent.
Drop CONFIG_NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES and use CONFIG_NUMA instead.
Done with
$ sed -i 's/CONFIG_NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES/CONFIG_NUMA/' \
$(git grep -wl CONFIG_NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES)
$ sed -i 's/NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES/NUMA/' \
$(git grep -wl NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES)

The mutex linear_mapping_mutex is defined at the of the file while its
only two user are within the CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG block.
A compile without CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG set fails on PREEMPT_RT because
its mutex implementation is smart enough to realize that it is unused.
Move the definition of linear_mapping_mutex to ifdef block where it is
used.

We added dcache flush on memory add/remove in commit
fb5924fddf9e ("powerpc/mm: Flush cache on memory hot(un)plug") to
handle crashes on GPU hotplug. Instead of adding dcache flush in
generic memory add/remove routine which is used even for regular
memory, we should handle these devices specific flush in the device
driver code.
memtrace did handle this in the driver and that was removed by commit
7fd6641de28f ("powerpc/powernv/memtrace: Let the arch hotunplug code
flush cache"). This patch reverts that commit.
The dcache flush in memory add was removed by commit
ea458effa88e ("powerpc: Don't flush caches when adding memory") which
I don't think is correct. The reason why we require dcache flush in
memtrace is to make sure we don't have a dirty cache when we remap a
pfn to cache inhibited. We should do that when the memtrace module
removes the memory and make the pfn available for HTM traces to map it
as cache inhibited.
The other device mentioned in commit fb5924fddf9e ("powerpc/mm: Flush
cache on memory hot(un)plug") is nvlink device with coherent memory.
The support for that was removed in commit
7eb3cf761927 ("powerpc/powernv: remove unused NPU DMA code") and
commit 25b2995a35b6 ("mm: remove MEMORY_DEVICE_PUBLIC support")

THP config results in compound pages. Make sure the kernel enables
the PageCompound() check with CONFIG_HUGETLB_PAGE disabled and
CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE enabled.
This makes sure we correctly flush the icache with THP pages.
flush_dcache_icache_page only matter for platforms that don't support
