* bpf, s390: fix potential memleak when later bpf_jit_prog failsDaniel Borkmann2018-06-291-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If we would ever fail in the bpf_jit_prog() pass that writes the actual insns to the image after we got header via bpf_jit_binary_alloc() then we also need to make sure to free it through bpf_jit_binary_free() again when bailing out. Given we had prior bpf_jit_prog() passes to initially probe for clobbered registers, program size and to fill in addrs arrray for jump targets, this is more of a theoretical one, but at least make sure this doesn't break with future changes. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change css_general_characteristics such that the bitfields don't straddle storage-unit boundaries of the base types. This does not change the offsets of the structs members but now we do as documented and also fix the following sparse complaint: drivers/s390/cio/chsc.c:926:56: warning: invalid access past the end of 'css_general_characteristics' (16 18) Signed-off-by: Sebastian Ott <sebott@linux.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Peter Oberparleiter <oberpar@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>

This includes the explicit overflow fixes from Silvio, further struct_size() conversions from Matthew, and a bug fix from Dan. But the bulk of it is the treewide conversions to use either the 2-factor argument allocators (e.g. kmalloc(a * b, ...) into kmalloc_array(a, b, ...) or the array_size() macros (e.g. vmalloc(a * b) into vmalloc(array_size(a, b)). Coccinelle was fighting me on several fronts, so I've done a bunch of manual whitespace updates in the patches as well. Summary: - Error path bug fix for overflow tests (Dan) - Additional struct_size() conversions (Matthew, Kees) - Explicitly reported overflow fixes (Silvio, Kees) - Add missing kvcalloc() function (Kees) - Treewide conversions of allocators to use either 2-factor argument variant when available, or array_size() and array3_size() as needed (Kees)" * tag 'overflow-v4.18-rc1-part2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux: (26 commits) treewide: Use array_size in f2fs_kvzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in f2fs_kzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in f2fs_kmalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in sock_kmalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in kvzalloc_node() treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc_node() treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in vmalloc() treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc() treewide: devm_kmalloc() -> devm_kmalloc_array() treewide: kvzalloc() -> kvcalloc() treewide: kvmalloc() -> kvmalloc_array() treewide: kzalloc_node() -> kcalloc_node() treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc() treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array() mm: Introduce kvcalloc() video: uvesafb: Fix integer overflow in allocation UBIFS: Fix potential integer overflow in allocation leds: Use struct_size() in allocation Convert intel uncore to struct_size ...

This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kmalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kmalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; As presented at LSFMM, this patch-set rearranges struct page to give more contiguous usable space to users who have allocated a struct page for their own purposes. For a graphical view of before-and-after, see the first two tabs of https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tvCszs_7FXrjei9_mtFiKV6nW1FLnYyvPvW-qNZhdog/edit?usp=sharing Highlights: - deferred_list now really exists in struct page instead of just a comment. - hmm_data also exists in struct page instead of being a nasty hack. - x86's PGD pages have a real pointer to the mm_struct. - VMalloc pages now have all sorts of extra information stored in them to help with debugging and tuning. - rcu_head is no longer tied to slab in case anyone else wants to free pages by RCU. - slub's counters no longer share space with _refcount. - slub's freelist+counters are now naturally dword aligned. - slub loses a parameter to a lot of functions and a sysfs file. This patch (of 17): s390 borrows the storage used for _mapcount in struct page in order to account whether the bottom or top half is being used for 2kB page tables. I want to use that for something else, so use the top byte of _refcount instead of the bottom byte of _mapcount. _refcount may temporarily be incremented by other CPUs that see a stale pointer to this page in the page cache, but each CPU can only increment it by one, and there are no systems with 2^24 CPUs today, so they will not change the upper byte of _refcount. We do have to be a little careful not to lose any of their writes (as they will subsequently decrement the counter). Most of the time, it is defined in arch/*/include/asm/pgtable.h depending or not on some other per architecture static definition. This patch introduce a new configuration variable to manage this directly in the Kconfig files. It would later replace __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL. Here notes for some architecture where the definition of __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is not obvious: arm __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL which is currently defined in arch/arm/include/asm/pgtable-3level.h which is included by arch/arm/include/asm/pgtable.h when CONFIG_ARM_LPAE is set. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL if ARM_LPAE. powerpc __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is defined in 2 files: - arch/powerpc/include/asm/book3s/64/pgtable.h - arch/powerpc/include/asm/pte-common.h The first one is included if (PPC_BOOK3S & PPC64) while the second is included in all the other cases. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL all the time. sparc: __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is defined if defined(__sparc__) && defined(__arch64__) which are defined through the compiler in sparc/Makefile if !SPARC32 which I assume to be if SPARC64. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL if SPARC64 There is no functional change introduced by this patch. The existing s390 arch_get_random_seed*() implementation uses the PRNO(TRNG) instruction which produces excellent high quality entropy but is relatively slow and thus expensive. This fix reworks the arch_get_random_seed* implementation. It introduces a buffer concept to decouple the delivery of random data via arch_get_random_seed*() from the generation of new random bytes. The buffer of random data is filled asynchronously by a workqueue thread. If there are enough bytes in the buffer the s390_arch_random_generate() just delivers these bytes. Otherwise false is returned until the worker thread refills the buffer. The worker fills the rng buffer by pulling fresh entropy from the high quality (but slow) true hardware random generator. This entropy is then spread over the buffer with an pseudo random generator. As the arch_get_random_seed_long() fetches 8 bytes and the calling function add_interrupt_randomness() counts this as 1 bit entropy the distribution needs to make sure there is in fact 1 bit entropy contained in 8 bytes of the buffer. The current values pull 32 byte entropy and scatter this into a 2048 byte buffer. So 8 byte in the buffer will contain 1 bit of entropy. The worker thread is rescheduled based on the charge level of the buffer but at least with 500 ms delay to avoid too much cpu consumption. So the max. amount of rng data delivered via arch_get_random_seed is limited to 4Kb per second. The reason for writing this extra memmove implementation was to be able to move memory from an unknown location (aka SCSI IPL parameter block) to a known location. This had to done early before it was known if the SCSI IPL parameter block pointer was valid or not, and therefore the memmove implementation was supposed to be able to handle program checks. The code has been changed and especially with commit d08091ac9654 ("s390/ipl: rely on diag308 store to get ipl info") and commit b4623d4e5b23 ("s390: provide memmove implementation") there is no need to have a memmove version that can handle program checks, and in addition it cannot be gcov/kcov instrumented anymore. This patch removes the files and replaces them with 'generic-y' statements, to avoid having to modify each copy when we extend sysvipc to deal with 64-bit time_t in 32-bit user space. Note that unlike alpha and ia64, the ipcbuf.h header file is slightly different here, so I'm leaving the private copy. To deal with 32-bit compat tasks, we also have to adapt the definitions of compat_{shm,sem,msg}id_ds to match the changes to the respective asm-generic files. Refactor these common defines to a common header file. The new common linux/compat_time.h is also useful as it will eventually be used to hold all the defines that are needed for compat time types that support non y2038 safe types. New architectures need not have to define these new types as they will only use new y2038 safe syscalls. This file can be deleted after y2038 when we stop supporting non y2038 safe syscalls. Most do the same things consisting in a field in a per-cpu struct (often irq_cpustat_t) accessed through per-cpu ops. We can provide instead a generic efficient version that most of them can use. In fact s390 is the only exception because the field is stored in lowcore. - Support for level!?! triggered MSI (ARM) Over the past couple of years, we've seen some SoCs coming up with ways of signalling level interrupts using a new flavor of MSIs, where the MSI controller uses two distinct messages: one that raises a virtual line, and one that lowers it. The target MSI controller is in charge of maintaining the state of the line. This allows for a much simplified HW signal routing (no need to have hundreds of discrete lines to signal level interrupts if you already have a memory bus), but results in a departure from the current idea the kernel has of MSIs. - Support for Meson-AXG GPIO irqchip - Large stm32 irqchip rework (suspend/resume, hierarchical domains) - More SPDX conversions * 'irq-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip: (36 commits) ARM: dts: stm32: Add exti support to stm32mp157 pinctrl ARM: dts: stm32: Add exti support for stm32mp157c pinctrl/stm32: Add irq_eoi for stm32gpio irqchip irqchip/stm32: Add suspend/resume support for hierarchy domain irqchip/stm32: Add stm32mp1 support with hierarchy domain irqchip/stm32: Prepare common functions irqchip/stm32: Add host and driver data structures irqchip/stm32: Add suspend support irqchip/stm32: Add falling pending register support irqchip/stm32: Checkpatch fix irqchip/stm32: Optimizes and cleans up stm32-exti irq_domain irqchip/meson-gpio: Add support for Meson-AXG SoCs dt-bindings: interrupt-controller: New binding for Meson-AXG SoC dt-bindings: interrupt-controller: Fix the double quotes softirq/s390: Move default mutators of overwritten softirq mask to s390 softirq/x86: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/sparc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/powerpc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/parisc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/ia64: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation ...

There remains work to do on nds32, arc, unicore32, powerpc, arm, arm64, ia64 and x86 to get the code that generates siginfo into a simpler and more maintainable state. Most of that work involves refactoring the signal handling code and thus careful code review. Also not included is the work to shrink the in kernel version of struct siginfo. That depends on getting the number of places that directly manipulate struct siginfo under control, as it requires the introduction of struct kernel_siginfo for the in kernel things. Simplify this process by using the helper force_sig_fault. Which takes as a parameters all of the information it needs, ensures all of the fiddly bits of filling in struct siginfo are done properly and then calls force_sig_info. In short about a 5 line reduction in code for every time force_sig_info is called, which makes the calling function clearer. Note: It is not safe to depend on C initializers to initialize struct siginfo on the stack because C is allowed to skip holes when initializing a structure. The initialization of struct siginfo in tracehook_report_syscall_exit was moved from the helper user_single_step_siginfo into tracehook_report_syscall_exit itself, to make it clear that the local variable siginfo gets fully initialized. In a few cases the scope of struct siginfo has been reduced to make it clear that siginfo siginfo is not used on other paths in the function in which it is declared. Instances of using memset to initialize siginfo have been replaced with calls clear_siginfo for clarity. Signed-off-by: "Eric W. Biederman" <ebiederm@xmission.com>
