* | bitops: introduce CONFIG_GENERIC_FIND_BIT_LEAkinobu Mita2011-03-241-0/+3
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This introduces CONFIG_GENERIC_FIND_BIT_LE to tell whether to use generic implementation of find_*_bit_le() in lib/find_next_bit.c or not. For now we select CONFIG_GENERIC_FIND_BIT_LE for all architectures which enable CONFIG_GENERIC_FIND_NEXT_BIT. But m68knommu wants to define own faster find_next_zero_bit_le() and continues using generic find_next_{,zero_}bit(). * | kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes2011-01-211-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it. | |/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are still quite a number of MFD and GPIO expander drivers that are using the old irq_chip APIs that haven't had a chance to update during the .37 cycle, resulting in allyes/modconfig errors on some configurations. Mark Brown has done most of the legwork to get these fixed up in .38, so this should just be a .37 stop-gap that we can drop at the end of the .38 merge window. | * | | sh: machvec IO death.Paul Mundt2010-11-011-1/+2
| | |/ | |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This takes a bit of a sledgehammer to the machvec I/O routines. The iomem case requires no special casing and so can just be dropped outright. This only leaves the ioport casing for PCI and SuperIO mangling. With the SuperIO case going through the standard ioport mapping, it's possible to replace everything with generic routines. With this done the standard I/O routines are tidied up and NO_IOPORT now gets default-enabled for the vast majority of boards. Signed-off-by: Paul Mundt <lethal@linux-sh.org>

It is most useful for NMI code that needs to interact with the rest of the system -- like wakeup a task to drain buffers. Perf currently has such a mechanism, so extract that and provide it as a generic feature, independent of perf so that others may also benefit. The IRQ context callback is generated through self-IPIs where possible, or on architectures like powerpc the decrementer (the built-in timer facility) is set to generate an interrupt immediately. Architectures that don't have anything like this get to do with a callback from the timer tick. These architectures can call irq_work_run() at the tail of any IRQ handlers that might enqueue such work (like the perf IRQ handler) to avoid undue latencies in processing the work. * | sh: add romImage MMCIF boot for sh7724 and Ecovec V2Magnus Damm2010-05-311-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is V2 of the MMCIF romImage boot support for sh7724 and the Ecovec board. With this patch applied and CONFIG_ROMIMAGE_MMCIF selected the romImage kernel image can be written to a MMC card and booted directly by the sh7724 cpu. * | asm-generic: add NEED_SG_DMA_LENGTH to define sg_dma_len()FUJITA Tomonori2010-05-271-0/+3
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are only two ways to define sg_dma_len(); use sg->dma_length or sg->length. This patch introduces NEED_SG_DMA_LENGTH that enables architectures to choose sg->dma_length or sg->length. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The UP dependency was inherited from ARM, which seems to have run in to it due to the stacktrace code not being available for SMP in certain cases, as we don't have this particular limitation there is no specific need to block on the SMP dependency.
