* arch: remove tile portArnd Bergmann2018-03-161-239/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Tile architecture port was added by Chris Metcalf in 2010, and maintained until early 2018 when he orphaned it due to his departure from Mellanox, and nobody else stepped up to maintain it. The product line is still around in the form of the BlueField SoC, but no longer uses the Tile architecture. There are also still products for sale with Tile-GX SoCs, notably the Mikrotik CCR router family. The products all use old (linux-3.3) kernels with lots of patches and won't be upgraded by their manufacturers. There have been efforts to port both OpenWRT and Debian to these, but both projects have stalled and are very unlikely to be continued in the future. Given that we are reasonably sure that nobody is still using the port with an upstream kernel any more, it seems better to remove it now while the port is in a good shape than to let it bitrot for a few years first. * ftrace: Add return address pointer to ftrace_ret_stackJosh Poimboeuf2016-08-241-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Storing this value will help prevent unwinders from getting out of sync with the function graph tracer ret_stack. Now instead of needing a stateful iterator, they can compare the return address pointer to find the right ret_stack entry. Note that an array of 50 ftrace_ret_stack structs is allocated for every task. So when an arch implements this, it will add either 200 or 400 bytes of memory usage per task (depending on whether it's a 32-bit or 64-bit platform). * tile/jump_label: add jump label support for TILE-GxZhigang Lu2016-01-041-10/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Add the arch-specific code to support jump label for TILE-Gx. This code shares NOP instruction with ftrace, so we move it to a common header file. * tile: define a macro ktext_writable_addr to get writable kernel text addressZhigang Lu2016-01-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | It is used by kgdb, ftrace, kprobe and jump label, so we factor this out into a helper routine. Reviewed-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@ezchip.com> Signed-off-by: Zhigang Lu <zlu@ezchip.com> Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@ezchip.com>
* tile: ftrace: fix function_graph tracer issuesTony Lu2015-04-171-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | - Add support for ARCH_SUPPORTS_FTRACE_OPS - Replace the instruction in ftrace_call with the bundle {move r10, lr; jal ftrace_stub}, so that the lr contains the right value after returning from ftrace_stub. An alternative fix might be to leave the instruction in ftrace_call alone when it is being updated with ftrace_stub. * ftrace: Do not pass data to ftrace_dyn_arch_initJiri Slaby2014-03-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As the data parameter is not really used by any ftrace_dyn_arch_init, remove that from ftrace_dyn_arch_init. This also removes the addr local variable from ftrace_init which is now unused. Note the documentation was imprecise as it did not suggest to set (*data) to 0. * ftrace: Pass retval through return in ftrace_dyn_arch_init()Jiri Slaby2014-03-071-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | No architecture uses the "data" parameter in ftrace_dyn_arch_init() in any way, it just sets the value to 0. And this is used as a return value in the caller -- ftrace_init, which just checks the retval against zero. Note there is also "return 0" in every ftrace_dyn_arch_init. So it is enough to check the retval and remove all the indirect sets of data on all archs.
