* ACPICA: Clarify/rename some root table descriptor fieldsBob Moore2010-05-061-9/+10
| | | | | | | | | Original fields were not very descriptive and led to maintenance problems. New fields should help to understand the existing code. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPI: add boot option acpi=copy_dsdt to fix corrupt DSDTLin Ming2010-04-201-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Some BIOS on Toshiba machines corrupt the DSDT, so add a new boot option acpi=copy_dsdt to workaround it. Add warning message to ask users to use this option if corrupt DSDT detected. Also build a DMI blacklist to check it and automatically copy DSDT. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14679 Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPICA: Update DSDT copy/detection.Bob Moore2010-04-201-11/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | Move initialization of DSDT pointer. Emit address of DSDT in the dump of both table headers (good/bad DSDT). Now handles the case where the root table can be reallocated, which would invalidate the original pointer. * ACPICA: Add subsystem option to force copy of DSDT to local memoryLin Ming2010-04-201-0/+35
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Optionally copy the entire DSDT to local memory (instead of simply mapping it.) There are some BIOSs that corrupt or replace the original DSDT, creating the need for this option. Default is FALSE, do not copy the DSDT. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14679 Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPICA: Add detection of corrupted/replaced DSDTLin Ming2010-04-201-0/+38
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This change adds support to detect a DSDT that has been corrupted and/or replaced from outside the OS (by firmware). This is typically catastrophic for the system, but has been seen on some machines. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14679 Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPICA: Standardize integer output for ACPICA warnings/errorsBob Moore2010-04-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Always use 0x prefix for hex output, use %u for integer output (all integers are unsigned.) Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPICA: Update all ACPICA copyrights and signons to 2010Bob Moore2010-01-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Add 2010 copyright to all module headers and signons, including the Linux header. This affects virtually every file in the ACPICA core subsystem, iASL compiler, and all utilities. * ACPICA: Dump table header - suppress output of non-printable charactersBob Moore2009-08-271-7/+75
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Function acpi_tb_print_table_header. Some ACPI tables contain non-printable characters in one of the string fields of the the header - Signature, OemId, OemTableId, or CompilerId. Invalid characters are replaced by '?'. * ACPICA: Remove extraneous parameter in table managerBob Moore2009-03-261-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | Removed the Flags parameter from several internal functions since it was not being used. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
* ACPICA: Allow OS override of all ACPI tablesBob Moore2009-03-261-13/+46
| | | | | | | | | | Previously, the table override mechanism was implemented for the DSDT only. Now, any table in the RSDT/XSDT can be replaced by the host OS. (including the DSDT). * ACPICA: Fix table entry truncation calculationMyron Stowe2009-02-071-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | During early boot, ACPI RSDT/XSDT table entries are gathered into the 'initial_tables[]' array. This array is currently statically defined (see ./drivers/acpi/tables.c). When there are more table entries than can be held in the 'initial_tables[]' array, the message "Truncating N table entries!" is output. As currently implemented, this message will always erroneously calculate N as 0. This patch fixes the calculation that determines how many table entries will be missing (truncated). This modification may be used under either the GPL or the BSD-style license used for Intel ACPI CA code.
