* drm/vboxvideo: Use drm_gem_vram_vmap() interfacesThomas Zimmermann2020-09-141-4/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | VRAM helpers support ref counting for pin and vmap operations, no need to avoid these operations by employing the internal kmap interface. Just use drm_gem_vram_vmap() and let it handle the details. Also unexport the kmap interfaces from VRAM helpers. Vboxvideo was the last user of these internal functions. v2: * fixed a comma in commit description Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Tested-by: Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20200911075922.19317-1-tzimmermann@suse.de

| * drm/vboxvideo: Add missing remove_conflicting_pci_framebuffers call, v2Hans de Goede2020-03-261-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The vboxvideo driver is missing a call to remove conflicting framebuffers. Surprisingly, when using legacy BIOS booting this does not really cause any issues. But when using UEFI to boot the VM then plymouth will draw on both the efifb /dev/fb0 and /dev/drm/card0 (which has registered /dev/fb1 as fbdev emulation). VirtualBox will actual display the output of both devices (I guess it is showing whatever was drawn last), this causes weird artifacts because of pitch issues in the efifb when the VM window is not sized at 1024x768 (the window will resize to its last size once the vboxvideo driver loads, changing the pitch). Adding the missing drm_fb_helper_remove_conflicting_pci_framebuffers() call fixes this. * drm/vboxvideo/vboxvideo.h: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva2020-03-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 7d79aa8628fe ("drm/vboxvideo: Replace struct vram_framebuffer with generic implemenation") removed the diy framebuffer code from the vboxvideo driver, resulting in a nice cleanup. There is also now the ability if you don't have any of the legacy drivers enabled (pre-KMS) to remove all the pre-KMS support code from the core drm, this saves 10% or so in codesize on my machine. i915 also enable Icelake/Elkhart Lake Gen11 GPUs by default, vboxvideo moves out of staging. There are also some rcar-du patches which crossover with media tree but all should be acked by Mauro.
