* media: ad5820: Drop unsupported ad5823 from i2c_ and of_device_id tablesHans de Goede2023-07-141-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The supported ad5820 and ad5821 VCMs both use a single 16 bit register which is written by sending 2 bytes with the data directly after sending the i2c-client address. The ad5823 OTOH has a more typical i2c / smbus device setup with multiple 8 bit registers where the first byte send after the i2c-client address is the register address and the actual data only starts from the second byte after the i2c-client address. The ad5823 i2c_ and of_device_id-s was added at the same time as the ad5821 ids with as rationale: """ Some camera modules also refer that AD5823 is a replacement of AD5820: https://download.kamami.com/p564094-OV8865_DS.pdf """ The AD5823 may be an electrical and functional replacement of the AD5820, but from a software pov it is not compatible at all and it is going to need its own driver, drop its id from the ad5820 driver. | | | | | | | | | | | After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then commit 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. * i2c: Make remove callback return voidUwe Kleine-König2022-08-161-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The pointer to 'struct v4l2_subdev' is stored in drvdata via v4l2_i2c_subdev_init() so there is no point of a dance like: struct i2c_client *client = to_i2c_client(struct device *dev) struct v4l2_subdev *sd = i2c_get_clientdata(client); This allows to remove local variable 'client' and few pointer dereferences. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since kernel 4.16, i2c devices with DT compatible tag are modprobed using their DT modalias. Without this patch, if this driver is build as module it would never be autoprobed. There is no need to mask it with CONFIG_OF to allow ACPI loading, this also builds find with CONFIG_OF=n. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The new ad5820 driver uses #ifdef to hide the suspend/resume functions, but gets it wrong when CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is disabled: drivers/media/i2c/ad5820.c:286:12: error: 'ad5820_resume' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function] drivers/media/i2c/ad5820.c:274:12: error: 'ad5820_suspend' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function] This replaces the #ifdef with a __maybe_unused annotation that is simpler and harder to get wrong, avoiding the warning.
