* media: rc: rename s_learning_mode() to s_wideband_receiver()Sean Young2021-07-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | The s_learning_mode() function is called in response to the ioctl LIRC_SET_WIDEBAND_RECEIVER, so rename it to s_wideband_receiver(). Learning mode is when both the wideband receiver is turned on and carrier reports are enabled. * media: rc: harmonize infrared durations to microsecondsSean Young2020-09-031-9/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | rc-core kapi uses nanoseconds for infrared durations for receiving, and microseconds for sending. The uapi already uses microseconds for both, so this patch does not change the uapi. Infrared durations do not need nanosecond resolution. IR protocols do not have durations shorter than about 100 microseconds. Some IR hardware offers 250 microseconds resolution, which is sufficient for most protocols. Better hardware has 50 microsecond resolution and is enough for every protocol I am aware off. Unify on microseconds everywhere. This simplifies the code since less conversion between microseconds and nanoseconds needs to be done. This affects: - rx_resolution member of struct rc_dev - timeout member of struct rc_dev - duration member in struct ir_raw_event Cc: "Bruno Prémont" <bonbons@linux-vserver.org> Cc: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil-cisco@xs4all.nl> Cc: Maxim Levitsky <maximlevitsky@gmail.com> Cc: Patrick Lerda <patrick9876@free.fr> Cc: Kevin Hilman <khilman@baylibre.com> Cc: Neil Armstrong <narmstrong@baylibre.com> Cc: Jerome Brunet <jbrunet@baylibre.com> Cc: Martin Blumenstingl <martin.blumenstingl@googlemail.com> Cc: Sean Wang <sean.wang@mediatek.com> Cc: Matthias Brugger <matthias.bgg@gmail.com> Cc: Patrice Chotard <patrice.chotard@st.com> Cc: Maxime Ripard <mripard@kernel.org> Cc: Chen-Yu Tsai <wens@csie.org> Cc: "David Härdeman" <david@hardeman.nu> Cc: Benjamin Valentin <benpicco@googlemail.com> Cc: Antti Palosaari <crope@iki.fi> Signed-off-by: Sean Young <sean@mess.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>

* media: rc-core: rename input_name to device_nameSean Young2017-08-201-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When an ir-spi is registered, you get this message. rc rc0: Unspecified device as /devices/platform/soc/3f215080.spi/spi_master/spi32766/spi32766.128/rc/rc0 "Unspecified device" refers to input_name, which makes no sense for IR TX only devices. So, rename to device_name. Also make driver_name const char* so that no casts are needed anywhere. * [media] rc-main: assign driver type during allocationAndi Shyti2017-01-301-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The driver type can be assigned immediately when an RC device requests to the framework to allocate the device. This is an 'enum rc_driver_type' data type and specifies whether the device is a raw receiver or scancode receiver. The type will be given as parameter to the rc_allocate_device device. Change accordingly all the drivers calling rc_allocate_device() so that the device type is specified during the rc device allocation. Whenever the device type is not specified, it will be set as RC_DRIVER_SCANCODE which was the default '0' value. * [media] rc: don't break long linesMauro Carvalho Chehab2016-10-211-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder to grep for strings at the source code. As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n". It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines. So, join those continuation lines. The patch was generated via the script below, and manually adjusted if needed. </script> use Text::Tabs; while (<>) { if ($next ne "") { $c=$_; if ($c =~ /^\s+\"(.*)/) { $c2=$1; $next =~ s/\"\n$//; $n = expand($next); $funpos = index($n, '('); $pos = index($c2, '",'); if ($funpos && $pos > 0) { $s1 = substr $c2, 0, $pos + 2; $s2 = ' ' x ($funpos + 1) . substr $c2, $pos + 2; $s2 =~ s/^\s+//; $s2 = ' ' x ($funpos + 1) . $s2 if ($s2 ne ""); print unexpand("$next$s1\n"); print unexpand("$s2\n") if ($s2 ne ""); } else { print "$next$c2\n"; } $next=""; next; } else { print $next; } $next=""; } else { if (m/\"$/) { if (!m/\\n\"$/) { $next=$_; next; } } } print $_; } </script> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The basic API of rc-core used to be: dev = rc_allocate_device(); dev->x = a; dev->y = b; dev->z = c; rc_register_device(); which is a pretty common pattern in the kernel, after the introduction of protocol arrays the API looks something like: dev = rc_allocate_device(); dev->x = a; rc_set_allowed_protocols(dev, RC_BIT_X); dev->z = c; rc_register_device(); There's no real need for the protocols to be an array, so change it back to be consistent (and in preparation for the following patches). * | [media] rc: Call rc_register_device before irq setupMatthijs Kooijman2012-12-211-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This should fix a potential race condition, when the irq handler triggers while rc_register_device is still setting up the rdev->raw device. This crash has not been observed in practice, but there should be a very small window where it could occur. Since ir_raw_event_store_with_filter checks if rdev->raw is not NULL before using it, this bug is not triggered if the request_irq triggers a pending irq directly (since rdev->raw will still be NULL then). * | [media] rc: Make probe cleanup goto labels more verboseMatthijs Kooijman2012-12-211-10/+10
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before, labels were simply numbered. Now, the labels are named after the cleanup action they'll perform (first), based on how the winbond-cir driver does it. This makes the code a bit more clear and makes changes in the ordering of labels easier to review. This change is applied only to the rc drivers that do significant cleanup in their probe functions: ati-remote, ene-ir, fintek-cir, gpio-ir-recv, ite-cir, nuvoton-cir. This commit should not change any code, it just renames goto labels. * [media] ene-ir: Fix cleanup on probe failureMatthijs Kooijman2012-10-281-16/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This makes the cleanup on probe failure more consistent with other drivers. This is similar to what commit f27b853ea24a9b70585f9251384d97929e6551c3 ("[media] rc: Fix invalid free_region and/or free_irq on probe failure") did for some other drivers. In addition to making the cleanup more consistent, this also fixes a case where (on a ene_hw_detect failure) free_region would be called on a region that was not requested yet. This last problem was probably introduced by the moving of code in commit b31b021988fed9e3741a46918f14ba9b063811db ("[media] ene_ir: Fix driver initialisation") and commit 9ef449c6b31bb6a8e6dedc24de475a3b8c79be20 ("[media] rc: Postpone ISR registration"). * [media] rc-core: add separate defines for protocol bitmaps and numbersDavid Härdeman2012-10-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The RC_TYPE_* defines are currently used both where a single protocol is expected and where a bitmap of protocols is expected. Functions like rc_keydown() and functions which add/remove entries to the keytable want a single protocol. Future userspace APIs would also benefit from numeric protocols (rather than bitmap ones). Keytables are smaller if they can use a small(ish) integer rather than a bitmap. Other functions or struct members (e.g. allowed_protos, enabled_protocols, etc) accept multiple protocols and need a bitmap. Using different types reduces the risk of programmer error. Using a protocol enum whereever possible also makes for a more future-proof user-space API as we don't need to worry about a sufficient number of bits being available (e.g. in structs used for ioctl() calls). The use of both a number and a corresponding bit is dalso one in e.g. the input subsystem as well (see all the references to set/clear bit when changing keytables for example). This patch separate the different usages in preparation for upcoming patches. Where a single protocol is expected, enum rc_type is used; where one or more protocol(s) are expected, something like u64 is used. The patch has been rewritten so that the format of the sysfs "protocols" file is no longer altered (at the loss of some detail). The file itself should probably be deprecated in the future though. * [media] rc: rename the remaining things to rc_coreMauro Carvalho Chehab2010-12-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Remote Controller subsystem is meant to be used not only by Infra Red but also for similar types of Remote Controllers. The core is not specific to Infra Red. As such, rename: - ir-core.h to rc-core.h - IR_CORE to RC_CORE - namespace inside rc-core.c/rc-core.h To be consistent with the other changes. No functional change on this patch. * [media] ir-core: make struct rc_dev the primary interfaceDavid Härdeman2010-12-291-69/+60
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch merges the ir_input_dev and ir_dev_props structs into a single struct called rc_dev. The drivers and various functions in rc-core used by the drivers are also changed to use rc_dev as the primary interface when dealing with rc-core. This means that the input_dev is abstracted away from the drivers which is necessary if we ever want to support multiple input devs per rc device. The new API is similar to what the input subsystem uses, i.e: rc_device_alloc() rc_device_free() rc_device_register() rc_device_unregister() [mchehab@redhat.com: Fix compilation on mceusb and cx231xx, due to merge conflicts] Signed-off-by: David Härdeman <david@hardeman.nu> Acked-by: Jarod Wilson <jarod@redhat.com> Tested-by: Jarod Wilson <jarod@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
