* mtd: nand: gpio: set ECC algorithm explicitlyRafał Miłecki2016-04-191-0/+1
| | | | | | | | This is part of process deprecating NAND_ECC_SOFT_BCH (and switching to enum nand_ecc_algo). Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <zajec5@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com>
* mtd: nand: remove useless mtd->priv = chip assignmentsBoris BREZILLON2015-12-181-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | mtd_to_nand() now uses the container_of() approach to transform an mtd_info pointer into a nand_chip one. Drop useless mtd->priv assignments from NAND controller drivers. * mtd: nand: gpio: use the mtd instance embedded in struct nand_chipBoris BREZILLON2015-12-181-9/+12
| | | | | | | struct nand_chip now embeds an mtd device. Make use of this mtd instance. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
* mtd: nand: drop unnecessary partition parser dataBrian Norris2015-11-111-5/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | All of these drivers set up a parser data struct just to communicate DT partition data. This field has been deprecated and is instead supported by telling nand_scan_ident() about the 'flash_node'. This patch: * sets chip->flash_node for those drivers that didn't already (but used OF partitioning) * drops the parser data * switches to the simpler mtd_device_register() where possible, now that we've eliminated one of the auxiliary parameters Now that we've assigned chip->flash_node for these drivers, we can probably rely on nand_dt_init() to do more of the DT parsing for us, but for now, I don't want to fiddle with each of these drivers. The parsing is done in duplicate for now on some drivers. I don't think this should break things. (Famous last words.) | * mtd: nand: gpio: improve comments about GPIO assisted operationGerhard Sittig2014-11-051-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The drivers/mtd/nand/gpio.c driver does not GPIO bitbang the complete NAND protocol, but instead is GPIO _assisted_ -- a memory mapped interface communicates commands and data, and only few control signals are connected to GPIO pins. Expand comments in the driver source and in the Kconfig description to better reflect the very nature of the driver. The previous text could be mistaken for complete GPIO bitbanging. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. * mtd: nand-gpio: don't waste memory for OF failureBrian Norris2014-01-071-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | We shouldn't try to allocate a resource until we're sure the of_property_read_u64() call didn't fail. This is especially important if we use this code for both CONFIG_OF and !CONFIG_OF builds, since of_property_read_u64() will always return -ENOSYS for !CONFIG_OF. * mtd: kill MTD_NAND_VERIFY_WRITEHuang Shijie2012-09-291-39/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Just as Artem suggested: "Both UBI and JFFS2 are able to read verify what they wrote already. There are also MTD tests which do this verification. So I think there is no reason to keep this in the NAND layer, let alone wasting RAM in the driver to support this feature. Besides, it does not work for sub-pages and many drivers have it broken. It hurts more than it provides benefits." So kill MTD_NAND_VERIFY_WRITE entirely. * mtd: gpio-nand: add device tree bindingsJamie Iles2012-01-091-7/+108
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add device tree bindings so that the gpio-nand driver may be instantiated from the device tree. This also allows the partitions to be specified in the device tree. v7: - restore runtime device tree/non device tree detection v6: - convert to mtd_device_parse_register() v5: - fold dt config helpers into a single gpio_nand_of_get_config() v4: - get io sync address from gpio-control-nand,io-sync-reg property rather than a resource - clarified a few details in the binding v3: - remove redundant cast and a couple of whitespace/naming changes v2: - add CONFIG_OF guards for non-dt platforms - compatible becomes gpio-control-nand - clarify some binding details Signed-off-by: Jamie Iles <jamie@jamieiles.com> Signed-off-by: Artem Bityutskiy <Artem.Bityutskiy@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <David.Woodhouse@intel.com>
