* net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPSWilfried Klaebe2014-05-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPS Dave Miller mentioned he'd like to see SET_ETHTOOL_OPS gone. This does that. Mostly done via coccinelle script: @@ struct ethtool_ops *ops; struct net_device *dev; @@ - SET_ETHTOOL_OPS(dev, ops); + dev->ethtool_ops = ops; Compile tested only, but I'd seriously wonder if this broke anything. * drivers/net: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker2014-01-161-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. This covers everything under drivers/net except for wireless, which has been submitted separately. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. * net: icplus: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han2013-10-211-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* icplus: Use netif_running to determine device stateJon Mason2013-09-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Remove the __LINK_STATE_START check to verify the device is running, in favor of netif_running(). netif_running() performs the same check of __LINK_STATE_START, so the code should behave the same. * net: Move MII out from under NET_CORE and hide itBen Hutchings2013-06-201-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | All drivers that select MII also need to select NET_CORE because MII depends on it. This is a bit ridiculous because NET_CORE is just a menu option that doesn't enable any code by itself. There is also no need for it to be a visible option, since its users all select it. |\ | | | | | | | | | | | | Merge net into net-next because some upcoming net-next changes build on top of bug fixes that went into net. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
| * ipg: fix an unsigned widening cast of '~' truncation issueDan Carpenter2013-05-151-43/+43
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The bug here is this code from ipg_nic_hard_start_xmit(): txfd->tfc &= cpu_to_le64(~IPG_TFC_TFDDONE); IPG_TFC_TFDDONE is 0x0000000080000000 so it's an unsigned int. The negated value is 0x7fffffff but 0xffffffff7fffffff was intended. The other values in this file don't need to be changed but I did it for consistency. * drivers/net/ethernet/icplus: remove depends on CONFIG_EXPERIMENTALKees Cook2013-01-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL config item has not carried much meaning for a while now and is almost always enabled by default. As agreed during the Linux kernel summit, remove it from any "depends on" lines in Kconfigs. Acked-by: David S. * drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman2012-12-071-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice surprise. * icplus: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton2012-12-031-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. * icplus: mdio_write(), remove unnecessary for loopPatrick Kelle2011-12-011-10/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | At this point the variable j is always set to 7 and the code within the loop has to run only once anyway. As suggested by David Miller: "You can simply this even further since p[7] is what is used here, and this means len is one, the inner loop therefore executes only once, and the p[7].field value is not used (it's zero in the table) and the write to it is completely thrown away." * MII: fix Kconfig dependencies for MIIJeff Kirsher2011-09-151-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE could be disabled. This caused a dependency error. Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is selected.
