* hamradio: replace deprecated strncpy with strscpy_padJustin Stitt2023-10-181-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string interfaces. We expect both hi.data.modename and hi.data.drivername to be NUL-terminated based on its usage with sprintf: | sprintf(hi.data.modename, "%sclk,%smodem,fclk=%d,bps=%d%s", | bc->cfg.intclk ? "int" : "ext", | bc->cfg.extmodem ? "ext" : "int", bc->cfg.fclk, bc->cfg.bps, | bc->cfg.loopback ? ",loopback" : ""); Note that this data is copied out to userspace with: | if (copy_to_user(data, &hi, sizeof(hi))) ... however, the data was also copied FROM the user here: | if (copy_from_user(&hi, data, sizeof(hi))) Considering the above, a suitable replacement is strscpy_pad() as it guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer while also NUL-padding (which is good+wanted behavior when copying data to userspace). * hamradio: baycom: remove useless link in KconfigPeter Lafreniere2023-09-221-8/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The Kconfig help text for baycom drivers suggests that more information on the hardware can be found at <https://www.baycom.de>. The website now includes no information on their ham radio products other than a mention that they were once produced by the company, saying: "The amateur radio equipment is now no longer part and business of BayCom GmbH" As there is no information relavent to the baycom driver on the site, remove the link. | * hamradio: don't call dev_kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave()Yang Yingliang2022-12-121-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() or consume_skb() from hardware interrupt context or with hardware interrupts being disabled. It should use dev_kfree_skb_irq() or dev_consume_skb_irq() instead. The difference between them is free reason, dev_kfree_skb_irq() means the SKB is dropped in error and dev_consume_skb_irq() means the SKB is consumed in normal. In scc_discard_buffers(), dev_kfree_skb() is called to discard the SKBs, so replace it with dev_kfree_skb_irq(). In scc_net_tx(), dev_kfree_skb() is called to drop the SKB that exceed queue length, so replace it with dev_kfree_skb_irq(). | * hamradio: fix issue of dev reference count leakage in bpq_device_event()Zhengchao Shao2022-11-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When following tests are performed, it will cause dev reference counting leakage. a)ip link add bond2 type bond mode balance-rr b)ip link set bond2 up c)ifenslave -f bond2 rose1 d)ip link del bond2 When new bond device is created, the default type of the bond device is ether. And the bond device is up, bpq_device_event() receives the message and creates a new bpq device. In this case, the reference count value of dev is hold once. But after "ifenslave -f bond2 rose1" command is executed, the type of the bond device is changed to rose. When the bond device is unregistered, bpq_device_event() will not put the dev reference count. * | hamradio: baycom_epp: Fix return type of baycom_send_packet()Nathan Chancellor2022-11-041-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With clang's kernel control flow integrity (kCFI, CONFIG_CFI_CLANG), indirect call targets are validated against the expected function pointer prototype to make sure the call target is valid to help mitigate ROP attacks. If they are not identical, there is a failure at run time, which manifests as either a kernel panic or thread getting killed. A proposed warning in clang aims to catch these at compile time, which reveals: drivers/net/hamradio/baycom_epp.c:1119:25: error: incompatible function pointer types initializing 'netdev_tx_t (*)(struct sk_buff *, struct net_device *)' (aka 'enum netdev_tx (*)(struct sk_buff *, struct net_device *)') with an expression of type 'int (struct sk_buff *, struct net_device *)' [-Werror,-Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict] .ndo_start_xmit = baycom_send_packet, ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 error generated. ->ndo_start_xmit() in 'struct net_device_ops' expects a return type of 'netdev_tx_t', not 'int'. Adjust the return type of baycom_send_packet() to match the prototype's to resolve the warning and CFI failure. The situation is shown below: (Thread 1) | (Thread 2) decode_std_command() | resync_tnc() ... | if (rest == 2) | sp->rx_count_cooked -= 2; | else if (rest == 3) | ... | sp->rx_count_cooked = 0; sp->rx_count_cooked -= 1; | for (i = 0; i < sp->rx_count_cooked; i++) // report error checksum += sp->cooked_buf[i]; sp->rx_count_cooked is a shared variable but is not protected by a lock. * hamradio: Fix wrong assignment of 'bbc->cfg.loopback'Meng Tang2022-03-171-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In file hamradio/baycom_epp.c, the baycom_setmode interface, there is a problem with improper use of strstr. Suppose that when modestr="noloopback", both conditions which are 'strstr(modestr,"noloopback")' and 'strstr(modestr,"loopback")' will be true(not NULL), this lead the bc->cfg.loopback variable will be first assigned to 0, and then reassigned to 1. This will cause 'bc->cfg.loopback = 0' will never take effect. That obviously violates the logic of the code, so adjust the order of their execution to solve the problem. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When a 6pack device is detaching, the sixpack_close() will act to cleanup necessary resources. Although del_timer_sync() in sixpack_close() won't return if there is an active timer, one could use mod_timer() in sp_xmit_on_air() to wake up timer again by calling userspace syscall such as ax25_sendmsg(), ax25_connect() and ax25_ioctl(). This unexpected waked handler, sp_xmit_on_air(), realizes nothing about the undergoing cleanup and may still call pty_write() to use driver layer resources that have already been released. One of the possible race conditions is shown below: (USE) | (FREE) ax25_sendmsg() | ax25_queue_xmit() | ... | sp_xmit() | sp_encaps() | sixpack_close() sp_xmit_on_air() | del_timer_sync(&sp->tx_t) mod_timer(&sp->tx_t,...) | ... | unregister_netdev() | ... (wait a while) | tty_release() | tty_release_struct() | release_tty() sp_xmit_on_air() | tty_kref_put(tty_struct) //FREE pty_write(tty_struct) //USE | ... The corresponding fail log is shown below: =============================================================== BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in __run_timers.part.0+0x170/0x470 Write of size 8 at addr ffff88800a652ab8 by task swapper/2/0 ... This patch reorders the del_timer_sync() after the unregister_netdev() to avoid UAF bugs. Because the unregister_netdev() is well synchronized, it flushs out any pending queues, waits the refcount of net_device decreases to zero and removes net_device from kernel. There is not any running routines after executing unregister_netdev(). Therefore, we could not arouse timer from userspace again. * hamradio: remove needs_free_netdev to avoid UAFLin Ma2021-11-131-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The former patch "defer 6pack kfree after unregister_netdev" reorders the kfree of two buffer after the unregister_netdev to prevent the race condition. It also adds free_netdev() function in sixpack_close(), which is a direct copy from the similar code in mkiss_close(). However, in sixpack driver, the flag needs_free_netdev is set to true in sp_setup(), hence the unregister_netdev() will free the netdev automatically. Therefore, as the sp is netdev_priv, use-after-free occurs. This patch removes the needs_free_netdev = true and just let the free_netdev to finish this deallocation task. * | dmascc: use proper 'virt_to_bus()' rather than casting to 'int'Linus Torvalds2021-09-191-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The old dmascc driver depends on the legacy ISA_DMA_API, and blindly just casts the kernel virtual address to 'int' for set_dma_addr(). That works only incidentally, and because the high bits of the address will be ignored anyway. And on 64-bit architectures it causes warnings. Admittedly, 64-bit architectures with ISA are basically dead - I think the only example of this is alpha, and nobody would ever use the dmascc driver there. But hey, the fix is easy enough, the end result is cleaner, and it's yet another configuration that now builds without warnings. If somebody actually uses this driver on an alpha and this fixes it for you, please email me. Because that is just incredibly bizarre. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | tx timeout and slot time are currently specified in units of HZ. On Alpha, HZ is defined as 1024. When building alpha:allmodconfig, this results in the following error message. drivers/net/hamradio/6pack.c: In function 'sixpack_open': drivers/net/hamradio/6pack.c:71:41: error: unsigned conversion from 'int' to 'unsigned char' changes value from '256' to '0' In the 6PACK protocol, tx timeout is specified in units of 10 ms and transmitted over the wire: https://www.linux-ax25.org/wiki/6PACK Defining a value dependent on HZ doesn't really make sense, and presumably comes from the (very historical) situation where HZ was originally 100. Note that the SIXP_SLOTTIME use explicitly is about 10ms granularity: mod_timer(&sp->tx_t, jiffies + ((when + 1) * HZ) / 100); and the SIXP_TXDELAY walue is sent as a byte over the wire. The problem was in missing validation checks. Syzbot's reproducer generated malicious input, which caused decode_data() to be called a lot in sixpack_decode(). Since rx_count_cooked is only 400 bytes and noone reported before, that 400 bytes is not enough, let's just check if input is malicious and complain about buffer overrun.
