* [PATCH] xirc2ps_cs: Cannot reset card in atomic contextJoerg Ahrens2006-08-241-4/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | I am using a Xircom CEM33 pcmcia NIC which has occasional hardware problems. If the netdev watchdog detects a transmit timeout, do_reset is called which msleeps - this is illegal in atomic context. This patch schedules the timeout handling as a workqueue item. * [NET]: Avoid allocating skb in skb_padHerbert Xu2006-06-232-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | First of all it is unnecessary to allocate a new skb in skb_pad since the existing one is not shared. More importantly, our hard_start_xmit interface does not allow a new skb to be allocated since that breaks requeueing. This patch uses pskb_expand_head to expand the existing skb and linearize it if needed. Actually, someone should sift through every instance of skb_pad on a non-linear skb as they do not fit the reasons why this was originally created. Incidentally, this fixes a minor bug when the skb is cloned (tcpdump, TCP, etc.). As it is skb_pad will simply write over a cloned skb. Because of the position of the write it is unlikely to cause problems but still it's best if we don't do it. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S. * [PATCH] Remove useless check in drivers/net/pcmcia/xirc2ps_cs.cEric Sesterhenn2006-06-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | hi, coverity choked at this check (id #223), assuming that skb might be NULL and used anyways later. Since start_hard_xmit() always gets called with a valid skb, the check is useless and this patch removes it. | * [PATCH] pcmcia: convert DEV_OK to pcmcia_dev_presentDominik Brodowski2006-03-318-12/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of the DEV_OK macro, drivers should use pcmcia_dev_present(). Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: use bitfield instead of p_state and stateDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-125/+56
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of the two status values struct pcmcia_device->p_state and state, use descriptive bitfields. Most value-checking in drivers was invalid, as the core now only calls the ->remove() (a.k.a. detach) function in case the attachement _and_ configuration was successful. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: add return value to _config() functionsDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-89/+70
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Most of the driver initialization isn't done in the .probe function, but in the internal _config() functions. Make them return a value, so that .probe can properly report whether the probing of the device succeeded or not. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: remove dev_link_t and client_handle_t indirectionDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-396/+342
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | dev_link_t * and client_handle_t both mean struct pcmcai_device * by now. Therefore, remove all such indirections. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-126/+90
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Embed dev_link_t into struct pcmcia_device(), as they basically address the same entity. The actual contents of dev_link_t will be cleaned up step by step. This patch includes a bugfix from and signed-off-by Andrew Morton. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: remove unneeded Vcc pseudo settingDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-24/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As we do not allow setting Vcc in the pcmcia core, and Vpp1 and Vpp2 can only be set to the same value, a lot of code can be streamlined. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: remove export of pcmcia_release_configurationDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-18/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Handle the _modifying_ operation sm91c92_cs requires in pcmcia_modify_configuration, so that the only remaining users of pcmcia_release_configuration() are within the pcmcia core module. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: default suspend and resume handlingDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-125/+48
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In all but one case, the suspend and resume functions of PCMCIA drivers contain mostly of calls to pcmcia_release_configuration() and pcmcia_request_configuration(). Therefore, move this code out of the drivers and into the core. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: convert remaining users of pcmcia_release_io and _irqDominik Brodowski2006-03-311-2/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert the remaining drivers which use pcmcia_release_io or pcmcia_release_irq, and remove the EXPORT of these symbols. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
| * [PATCH] pcmcia: add pcmcia_disable_deviceDominik Brodowski2006-03-3110-101/+38
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | pcmcia_disable_device(struct pcmcia_device *p_dev) performs the necessary cleanups upon device or driver removal: it calls the appropriate pcmcia_release_* functions, and can replace (most) of the current drivers' _release() functions. * | [PATCH] Don't pass boot parameters to argv_init[]OGAWA Hirofumi2006-03-311-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The boot cmdline is parsed in parse_early_param() and parse_args(,unknown_bootoption). And __setup() is used in obsolete_checksetup(). start_kernel() -> parse_args() -> unknown_bootoption() -> obsolete_checksetup() If __setup()'s callback (->setup_func()) returns 1 in obsolete_checksetup(), obsolete_checksetup() thinks a parameter was handled. If ->setup_func() returns 0, obsolete_checksetup() tries other ->setup_func(). If all ->setup_func() that matched a parameter returns 0, a parameter is seted to argv_init[]. Then, when runing /sbin/init or init=app, argv_init[] is passed to the app. If the app doesn't ignore those arguments, it will warning and exit. This patch fixes a wrong usage of it, however fixes obvious one only. | * [PATCH] pcmcia: add id for AMB8110 PC CardJesse Allen2006-03-011-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The axnet_cs driver can support the AMB8110 PC Card, so add the id for it. In the old pcmcia-cs config file, this card is listed with the comment "not specific enough". The last entry in the axnet_ids has the same comment. They are disabled, and for good reason as it was originally identified by the MANFID, and that is shared with several cards that use both the pcnet_cs driver and axnet_cs driver. I tried my AMB8110 with pcnet_cs, and found that it works fine, and I cannot find a reason for either, except that the old config file recommended axnet_cs. * [PATCH] pcmcia: unify attach, EVENT_CARD_INSERTION handlers into one probe ↵Dominik Brodowski2006-01-0610-485/+100
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | callback Unify the EVENT_CARD_INSERTION and "attach" callbacks to one unified probe() callback. As all in-kernel drivers are changed to this new callback, there will be no temporary backwards-compatibility. Inside a probe() function, each driver _must_ set struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->instance and instance->handle correctly. With these patches, the basic driver interface for 16-bit PCMCIA drivers now has the classic four callbacks known also from other buses: int (*probe) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); void (*remove) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*suspend) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); int (*resume) (struct pcmcia_device *dev); Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
