* sfc: Replace LRO with GROHerbert Xu2009-01-211-191/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes sfc invoke the GRO hooks instead of LRO. As GRO has a compatible external interface to LRO this is a very straightforward replacement. Everything should appear identical to the user except that the offload is now controlled by the GRO ethtool option instead of LRO. I've kept the lro module parameter as is since that's for compatibility only. I have eliminated efx_rx_mk_skb as the GRO layer can take care of all packets regardless of whether GRO is enabled or not. So the only case where we don't call GRO is if the packet checksum is absent. This is to keep the behaviour changes of the patch to a minimum. * drivers/net: Kill now superfluous ->last_rx stores.David S. Miller2008-11-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The generic packet receive code takes care of setting netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the bonding ARP monitor. Drivers need not do it any more. Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* sfc: Remove some unreachable error pathsBen Hutchings2008-09-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | Some functions return an error code which is always 0. Change their return types to void and simplify their callers accordingly. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com>
* sfc: Cleanup RX queue informationBen Hutchings2008-09-031-16/+6
| | | | | | | | | Rename efx_nic::rss_queues to the more obvious n_rx_queues Remove efx_rx_queue::used and other stuff that's redundant with it. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com>
* sfc: Removed forced inlining of long functionsBen Hutchings2008-09-031-21/+21
| | | | | | | | | gcc will automatically inline static functions with only one caller, and may inline other functions depending on the kernel configuration and size of the intermediate code. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com>
* sfc: Use explicit bool for boolean variables, parameters and return valuesBen Hutchings2008-09-031-7/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | Replace (cond ? 1 : 0) with cond or !!cond as appropriate, and (cond ? 0 : 1) with !cond. Remove some redundant boolean temporaries. Rename one field that looks like a flag but isn't. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@redhat.com>
* dma-mapping: add the device argument to dma_mapping_error()FUJITA Tomonori2008-07-261-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add per-device dma_mapping_ops support for CONFIG_X86_64 as POWER architecture does: This enables us to cleanly fix the Calgary IOMMU issue that some devices are not behind the IOMMU (http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/5/8/423). I think that per-device dma_mapping_ops support would be also helpful for KVM people to support PCI passthrough but Andi thinks that this makes it difficult to support the PCI passthrough (see the above thread). So I CC'ed this to KVM camp. Comments are appreciated. A pointer to dma_mapping_ops to struct dev_archdata is added. If the pointer is non NULL, DMA operations in asm/dma-mapping.h use it. If it's NULL, the system-wide dma_ops pointer is used as before. If it's useful for KVM people, I plan to implement a mechanism to register a hook called when a new pci (or dma capable) device is created (it works with hot plugging). It enables IOMMUs to set up an appropriate dma_mapping_ops per device. The major obstacle is that dma_mapping_error doesn't take a pointer to the device unlike other DMA operations. So x86 can't have dma_mapping_ops per device. Note all the POWER IOMMUs use the same dma_mapping_error function so this is not a problem for POWER but x86 IOMMUs use different dma_mapping_error functions. The first patch adds the device argument to dma_mapping_error. The patch is trivial but large since it touches lots of drivers and dma-mapping.h in all the architecture. This patch: dma_mapping_error() doesn't take a pointer to the device unlike other DMA operations. So we can't have dma_mapping_ops per device. Note that POWER already has dma_mapping_ops per device but all the POWER IOMMUs use the same dma_mapping_error function. x86 IOMMUs use device argument.
