* b43: don't save dentries for debugfsGreg Kroah-Hartman2021-05-211-29/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There is no need to keep around the dentry pointers for the debugfs files as they will all be automatically removed when the subdir is removed. So save the space and logic involved in keeping them around by just getting rid of them entirely. By doing this change, we remove one of the last in-kernel user that was storing the result of debugfs_create_bool(), so that api can be cleaned up. Cc: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org> Cc: "David S. * treewide: Remove uninitialized_var() usageKees Cook2020-07-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1] (or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings (e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized, either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes. In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining needless uses with the following script: git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \ xargs perl -pi -e \ 's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g; s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;' drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid pathological white-space. No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0 for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64, alpha, and m68k. * b43: Use scnprintf() for avoiding potential buffer overflowTakashi Iwai2020-03-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Since snprintf() returns the would-be-output size instead of the actual output size, the succeeding calls may go beyond the given buffer limit. Fix it by replacing with scnprintf(). Cc: b43-dev@lists.infradead.org Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>

* b43: no need to check return value of debugfs_create functionsGreg Kroah-Hartman2019-02-011-28/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the return value. The function can work or not, but the code logic should never do something different based on this. * b43: fix debugfs crashChristian Lamparter2016-09-211-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch fixes a crash that happens because b43's debugfs code expects file->f_op to be a pointer to its own b43_debugfs_fops struct. This is no longer the case since commit 9fd4dcece43a ("debugfs: prevent access to possibly dead file_operations at file open") Reviewed-by: Nicolai Stange <nicstange@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@gmail.com> Cc: stable <stable@vger.kernel.org> # 4.7+ Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
