* thermal/drivers/generic-adc: Simplify with dev_err_probe()Krzysztof Kozlowski2024-07-151-6/+2

* thermal/drivers/generic-adc: Removed unneeded call to platform_set_drvdata()Andrei Coardos2023-08-161-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | This function call was found to be unnecessary as there is no equivalent platform_get_drvdata() call to access the private data of the driver. Also, the private data is defined in this driver, so there is no risk of it being accessed outside of this driver file. * thermal: Remove debug or error messages in get_temp() opsDaniel Lezcano2023-03-031-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some get_temp() ops implementation are showing an error or a debug message if the reading of the sensor fails. The debug message is already displayed from the call site of this ops. So we can remove it. On the other side, the error should not be displayed because in production that can raise tons of messages. Finally, some drivers are showing a debug message with the temperature, this is also accessible through the trace from the core code in the temperature_update() function. Another benefit is the dev_* messages are accessing the thermal zone device field from the structure, so we encapsulate even more the code by preventing these accesses. Remove those messages. * thermal/core: Use the thermal zone 'devdata' accessor in thermal located driversDaniel Lezcano2023-03-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The thermal zone device structure is exposed to the different drivers and obviously they access the internals while that should be restricted to the core thermal code. In order to self-encapsulate the thermal core code, we need to prevent the drivers accessing directly the thermal zone structure and provide accessor functions to deal with. Use the devdata accessor introduced in the previous patch. No functional changes intended. * thermal/drivers/generic-adc: Switch to new of APIDaniel Lezcano2022-08-171-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The thermal OF code has a new API allowing to migrate the OF initialization to a simpler approach. The ops are no longer device tree specific and are the generic ones provided by the core code. Convert the ops to the thermal_zone_device_ops format and use the new API to register the thermal zone with these generic ops. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since commit d36e2fa0253875 ("thermal: generic-adc: make lookup table optional") "generic-adc-thermal" can be used with an IIO_TEMP channel. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | First correct the edge case to return the last element if we're outside the range, rather than at the last element, so that interpolation is not omitted for points between the two last entries in the table. Then correct the formula to perform linear interpolation based the two points surrounding the read ADC value. The indices for temp are kept as "hi" and "lo" to pair with the adc indices, but there's no requirement that the temperature is provided in descendent order. mult_frac() is used to prevent issues with overflowing the int. This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...".
