The probe function has grown pretty large, I think it's time for some
cleanups, starting with these two simple ones:
* Move temp3/in6 check for the W83667HG later in the function, where
it is done for all other chip types.
* Move temperature register setting to a separate function, to avoid
code duplication.

When temperature sources are PECI or AMD-SI agents, it makes no sense
to report their type as diode or thermistor. Instead we must report
their digital nature.

Make use of the new i2c_smbus_{read,write}_word_swapped functions.
This makes the driver code more compact and readable. It also ensures
proper error handling.

Clean up the code to make it more readable:
* Remove reg_ and new_ prefixes from variable names, they made the
names longer, causing extra line breaks, while not adding much
value.
* Introduce struct device dev* = &client->dev in two functions, to
avoid repeating client->dev everywhere in these functions.

With some configuration option combinations, we get the following
warnings:
drivers/hwmon/lm90.c: In function 'lm90_detect':
drivers/hwmon/lm90.c:1114: warning: 'chip_id' may be used uninitialized
in this function

drivers/hwmon/lm90.c:1187: warning: 'reg_status2' may be used

We can solve these easily by reading the register values first and
checking for errors later. These errors should be very rare, even in
the case of failed detection, so this change has no impact on
performance. And this makes checkpatch.pl happier.

I am under the impression that error paths in functions
aem_init_aem1_inst() and aem_init_aem2_inst() are incorrect. In
several cases, the function returns 0 on error, which I suspect is
not intended. Fix this by properly tracking error codes.

Returning the max traffic classes on get requests simplifies
user space configurations because applications will know
explicitly how many traffic classes can be used.
Typical switch implementations use 2 or 3 traffic classes
so this not seen often today. And user space can learn
the number of traffic classes by return codes but this
allows user space to configure ixgbe correctly at the
start.

Interface fails to obtain link on 82599 SFP in the following scenario:
1. Set advertised speed to GB:
ethtool -s eth0 advertise 0x20
2. Bring interface down
ip link set eth0 down
3. Issue any command that leads to a reset:
ethtool -t eth0
4. Bring link back up:
ip link set eth0 up
Following patch makes sure that the driver flaps the Tx laser every time
ixgbe_start_hw() is called, and not only when the speed is set.

e100 parts don't support vlan offload but they generally do
allow use of vlans in higher software layers via the 8021q module.
That said, there are a couple of really old revisions of e100
hardware that don't even allow the longer frame sizes
required for vlan use with standard MTU.
Use the VLAN_CHALLENGED flag to prevent vlan binding to these
devices.

Macintosh CS89x0 based ethernet cards use a Crystal Semiconductor (Now
Cirrus Logic) CS89x0 chip, so the mac89x0 driver should be in
drivers/net/ethernet/cirrus instead of drivers/net/ethernet/apple.
This also fixes a build problem, as the driver needs a header file from the
cirrus directory:

Zheng Liang(lzheng@redhat.com) found a bug that if we config bonding with
arp monitor, sometimes bonding driver cannot get the speed and duplex from
its slaves, it will assume them to be 100Mb/sec and Full, please see
/proc/net/bonding/bond0.
But there is no such problem when uses miimon.
(Take igb for example)
I find that the reason is that after dev_open() in bond_enslave(),
bond_update_speed_duplex() will call igb_get_settings()
, but in that function,
it runs ethtool_cmd_speed_set(ecmd, -1); ecmd->duplex = -1;
because igb get an error value of status.
So even dev_open() is called, but the device is not really ready to get its
settings.
Maybe it is safe for us to call igb_get_settings() only after
this message shows up, that is "igb: p4p1 NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex,
Flow Control: RX".
So I prefer to update the speed and duplex for a slave when reseices
NETDEV_CHANGE/NETDEV_UP event.
Changelog
V2:
1 remove the "fake 100/Full" logic in bond_update_speed_duplex(),
set speed and duplex to -1 when it gets error value of speed and duplex.
2 delete the warning in bond_enslave() if bond_update_speed_duplex() returns
error.
3 make bond_info_show_slave() handle bad values of speed and duplex.

This patch removes the last hardcoded base address from the au1000_eth
driver. The base address of the MACDMA unit was derived from the
platform device id; if someone registered the MACs in inverse order
both would not work.
So instead pass the base address of the DMA unit to the driver with
the other platform resource information.

The sb_edac driver is marginally useful on a 32-bit kernel, and
currently has 64-bit divide compile errors when building that config.
For now, make this build on only for 64-bit kernels.

We have various bootloaders for Exynos4210 machines. Some of they
set the ARM core frequency at boot time even when the boot is a resume
from suspend-to-RAM. Such changes may create inconsistency in the
data of CPUFREQ driver and have incurred hang issues with suspend-to-RAM.
This patch enables to save and restore CPU frequencies with pm-notifier and
sets the frequency at the initial (boot-time) value so that there wouldn't
be any inconsistency between bootloader and kernel. This patch does not
use CPUFREQ's suspend/resume callbacks because they are syscore-ops, which
do not allow to use mutex that is being used by regulators that are used by
the target function.
This also prevents any CPUFREQ transitions during suspend-resume context,
which could be dangerous at noirq-context along with regulator framework.

Add new module option "set_max_voltage".
One of the lessons learned from Adaptive Powersaver is that voltage values
returned by processor are for worst case scenario. But required voltage
is changing with CPU temperature. And even processors produced in the same
batch can have different minimum voltage necessary for stable work at
specified frequency.
On Elonex Webbook, once system starts, temperature never drops below
48 deg. C. Loading module after systems start allows user to lower CPU
voltage and still have stable system.
Sadly C7 doesn't allow code to set frequency or voltage from outside limits.
If you ask it to set voltage lower then minimum it will ignore you. Thats
why it isn't possible to change minimum voltage for minimum frequency too.
Changing maximum voltage on Elonex Webbook leads to very good results. Looks
like VIA C7 1.6GHz 1084mV can safetly run at 892mV. This means 83% of
orginal value. If same percentage applies to power generated it means 12.5W
in the place of 15W. Not much, but it is better then nothing.
Only C7-M makes it possible.
If voltage is too low by 16mV or more you will experience kernel panic.
If voltage is too low by 32mV or more you will experience system freeze.

Some systems are using 1,2Ghz@844mV processors running at 600MHz@796mV.
Try to detect such systems and don't touch anything on it. If CPU doesn't have
P-States in BIOS it should run at maximum frequency.
Allow user to bypass checks by means of two new options.
Don't set frequency to maximum on module unloading to avoid bada boom.
It is also possible that some processors may have incorrect values in min/max
registers caused by error in manufacturing process. Probably it would be BIOS
job to set them to right frequency and P-States tables would have correct
values inside.
Two additional sanity checks for voltage.
