* zfcp: close window with unblocked rport during rport goneSteffen Maier2016-08-123-5/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On a successful end of reopen port forced, zfcp_erp_strategy_followup_success() re-uses the port erp_action and the subsequent zfcp_erp_action_cleanup() now sees ZFCP_ERP_SUCCEEDED with erp_action->action==ZFCP_ERP_ACTION_REOPEN_PORT instead of ZFCP_ERP_ACTION_REOPEN_PORT_FORCED but must not perform zfcp_scsi_schedule_rport_register(). We can detect this because the fresh port reopen erp_action is in its very first step ZFCP_ERP_STEP_UNINITIALIZED. Otherwise this opens a time window with unblocked rport (until the followup port reopen recovery would block it again). If a scsi_cmnd timeout occurs during this time window fc_timed_out() cannot work as desired and such command would indeed time out and trigger scsi_eh. This prevents a clean and timely path failover. This should not happen if the path issue can be recovered on FC transport layer such as path issues involving RSCNs. Also, unnecessary and repeated DID_IMM_RETRY for pending and undesired new requests occur because internally zfcp still has its zfcp_port blocked. As follow-on errors with scsi_eh, it can cause, in the worst case, permanently lost paths due to one of: sd <scsidev>: [<scsidisk>] Medium access timeout failure. Offlining disk! sd <scsidev>: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery For fix validation and to aid future debugging with other recoveries we now also trace (un)blocking of rports. * zfcp: fix ELS/GS request&response length for hardware data routerSteffen Maier2016-08-121-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the hardware data router case, introduced with kernel 3.2 commit 86a9668a8d29 ("[SCSI] zfcp: support for hardware data router") the ELS/GS request&response length needs to be initialized as in the chained SBAL case. Otherwise, the FCP channel rejects ELS requests with FSF_REQUEST_SIZE_TOO_LARGE. Such ELS requests can be issued by user space through BSG / HBA API, or zfcp itself uses ADISC ELS for remote port link test on RSCN. The latter can cause a short path outage due to unnecessary remote target port recovery because the always failing ADISC cannot detect extremely short path interruptions beyond the local FCP channel. Below example is decoded with zfcpdbf from s390-tools: Timestamp : ... Area : SAN Subarea : 00 Level : 1 Exception : - CPU id : .. * zfcp: fix fc_host port_type with NPIVSteffen Maier2016-08-121-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For an NPIV-enabled FCP device, zfcp can erroneously show "NPort (fabric via point-to-point)" instead of "NPIV VPORT" for the port_type sysfs attribute of the corresponding fc_host. s390-tools that can be affected are dbginfo.sh and ziomon. zfcp_fsf_exchange_config_evaluate() ignores fsf_qtcb_bottom_config.connection_features indicating NPIV and only sets fc_host_port_type to FC_PORTTYPE_NPORT if fsf_qtcb_bottom_config.fc_topology is FSF_TOPO_FABRIC. Only the independent zfcp_fsf_exchange_port_evaluate() evaluates connection_features to overwrite fc_host_port_type to FC_PORTTYPE_NPIV in case of NPIV. Code was introduced with upstream kernel 2.6.30 commit 0282985da5923fa6365adcc1a1586ae0c13c1617 ("[SCSI] zfcp: Report fc_host_port_type as NPIV"). This works during FCP device recovery (such as set online) because it performs FSF_QTCB_EXCHANGE_CONFIG_DATA followed by FSF_QTCB_EXCHANGE_PORT_DATA in sequence. However, the zfcp-specific scsi host sysfs attributes "requests", "megabytes", or "seconds_active" trigger only zfcp_fsf_exchange_config_evaluate() resetting fc_host port_type to FC_PORTTYPE_NPORT despite NPIV. The zfcp-specific scsi host sysfs attribute "utilization" triggers only zfcp_fsf_exchange_port_evaluate() correcting the fc_host port_type again in case of NPIV. Evaluate fsf_qtcb_bottom_config.connection_features in zfcp_fsf_exchange_config_evaluate() where it belongs to. * mpt3sas: Fix warnings exposed by W=1Calvin Owens2016-08-095-81/+56
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Trivial non-functional changes for a couple annoying things: 1) Functions local to files are not declared static, which is frustrating when reading the code because it's non-obvious at first glance what's actually called from other files. 2) Set-but-unused variables abound, presumably to mask -Wunused-result errors in the past. None of these are flagged today though (with one exception noted below), so remove them. Fixing (2) exposed the fact that we improperly ignore the return value of scsi_device_reprobe() in _scsih_reprobe_lun(). Fixing the calling code to deal with the potential error is non-trivial, so for now just WARN(). * mpt3sas: Ensure the connector_name string is NUL-terminatedCalvin Owens2016-08-092-5/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We blindly trust the hardware to give us NUL-terminated strings, which is a bad idea because it doesn't always do that. For example: [ 481.184784] mpt3sas_cm0: enclosure level(0x0000), connector name( \x3) In this case, connector_name is four spaces. We got lucky here because the 2nd byte beyond our character array happens to be a NUL. Fix this by explicitly writing '\0' to the end of the string to ensure we don't run off the edge of the world in printk(). This could be used with userspace(qemu) implementation of DMA remapping to emulate an IOMMU for the guest. The idea is simple, cache the translation in a software device IOTLB (which is implemented as an interval tree) in vhost and use vhost_net file descriptor for reporting IOTLB miss and IOTLB update/invalidation. When vhost meets an IOTLB miss, the fault address, size and access can be read from the file. After userspace finishes the translation, it writes the translated address to the vhost_net file to update the device IOTLB. When device IOTLB is enabled by setting VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM all vq addresses set by ioctl are treated as iova instead of virtual address and the accessing can only be done through IOTLB instead of direct userspace memory access. Before each round or vq processing, all vq metadata is prefetched in device IOTLB to make sure no translation fault happens during vq processing. In most cases, virtqueues are contiguous even in virtual address space. The IOTLB translation for virtqueue itself may make it a little slower. We might add fast path cache on top of this patch. The patch could be used for: - Extend the current API and only let the userspace to send diffs of memory table. - Simplify Device IOTLB implementation. On most systems with virtio, physical addresses match bus addresses, and it doesn't particularly matter which one we use to program the device. On some systems, including Xen and any system with a physical device that speaks virtio behind a physical IOMMU, we must program the IOMMU for virtio DMA to work at all. On other systems, including SPARC and PPC64, virtio-pci devices are enumerated as though they are behind an IOMMU, but the virtio host ignores the IOMMU, so we must either pretend that the IOMMU isn't there or somehow map everything as the identity. Add a feature bit to detect that quirk: VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM. Any device with this feature bit set to 0 needs a quirk and has to be passed physical addresses (as opposed to bus addresses) even though the device is behind an IOMMU. Note: it has to be a per-device quirk because for example, there could be a mix of passed-through and virtual virtio devices. As another example, some devices could be implemented by an out of process hypervisor backend (in case of qemu vhost, or vhost-user) and so support for an IOMMU needs to be coded up separately. It would be cleanest to handle this in IOMMU core code, but that needs per-device DMA ops. While we are waiting for that to be implemented, use a work-around in virtio core. Note: a "noiommu" feature is a quirk - add a wrapper to make that clear. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst@redhat.com>

The number is always fixed even when the balloon is fully deflated. But leak_balloon did not expect that the pages to deflate will be more than taken, and raise a "BUG" in balloon_page_dequeue when page list will be empty. So, the simplest solution would be to check that the number of releases pages is less or equal to the number taken pages. It works fine as long as your voltage(dutycycle) function is linear, but also has the following constraints: - dutycycle for min_uV = 0% - dutycycle for max_uV = 100% - dutycycle for min_uV < dutycycle for max_uV While the linearity constraint is acceptable for now, we sometimes need to restrict of the PWM range (to limit the maximum/minimum voltage for example) or have a min_uV_dutycycle > max_uV_dutycycle (this could be tweaked with PWM polarity, but not all PWMs support inverted polarity). Add the pwm-dutycycle-range and pwm-dutycycle-unit DT properties to define such constraints. If those properties are not defined, the PWM regulator use the default pwm-dutycycle-range = <0 100> and pwm-dutycycle-unit = <100> values (existing behavior). While most of the time this value should reflect the real voltage, sometime it can be sightly different if the PWM device rounded the set_duty_cycle request. Moreover, this value is not valid until someone has modified the regulator output. Remove the ->volt_uV field and always rely on the PWM state to calculate the regulator output. We also make use of the pwm_set_relative_duty_cycle() helper to ease relative to absolute duty_cycle conversion. Note that changes introduced by commit fd786fb0276a ("regulator: pwm: Try to avoid voltage error in duty cycle calculation") are no longer needed because pwm_set_relative_duty_cycle() takes care of all rounding approximation for us.
