There is no harm in setting a 64-bit mask even if we don't need it,
and the current ccio code is one of the few place in the kernel
still rejecting larger than required DMA masks.

and two drivers call it directly. So instead of selecting the config

The OF_RESERVED_MEM can be used if we have either CMA or the generic

So don't bother making it a user visible options that is selected

the requirements are met.

Currently the sm501 mfd driver can be compiled without any dependencies,
but through the use of dma_declare_coherent it really depends on
having DMA and iomem support. Normally we don't explicitly require DMA
support as we have stubs for it if on UML, but in this case the driver
selects support for dma_declare_coherent and thus also requires
memmap support. Guard this by an explicit dependency.

vb2_dc_get_userptr pokes into arm direct mapping details to get the
resemblance of a dma address for a a physical address that does is
not backed by a page struct. Not only is this not portable to other
architectures with dma direct mapping offsets, but also not to uses
of IOMMUs of any kind. Switch to the proper dma_map_resource /
dma_unmap_resource interface instead.

update_node_properties() reports an error when the test data contains
a node (such as "/aliases") that already exists in the base devicetree.
The error is caused by of_fdt_unflatten_tree() autogenerating the

have a property with the same name. Suppress reporting the known

Having of_reserved_mem_device_init() forcibly reconfigure DMA for all
callers, potentially overriding the work done by a bus-specific
.dma_configure method earlier, is at best a bad idea and at worst
actively harmful. If drivers really need virtual devices to own
dma-coherent memory, they should explicitly configure those devices
based on the appropriate firmware node as they create them.
It looks like the only driver not passing in a proper OF platform device
is s5p-mfc, so move the rogue of_dma_configure() call into that driver
where it logically belongs.

The values non secure EL1 needs to use for PMR and RPR registers depends on
the value of SCR_EL3.FIQ.
The values non secure EL1 sees from the distributor and redistributor
depend on whether security is enabled for the GIC or not.
To avoid having to deal with two sets of values for PMR
masking/unmasking, only enable pseudo-NMIs when GIC has non-secure view
of priorities.
Also, add firmware requirements related to SCR_EL3.

As of commit e2a2e56e4082 ("arm64: dump: no need to check return value
of debugfs_create functions") in the arm64 for-next/core branch,
ptdump_debugfs_register does not have a return value, which causes a
build error here:
drivers/firmware/efi/arm-runtime.c:51:9: error: returning 'void' from a
function with incompatible result type 'int'
return ptdump_debugfs_register(&efi_ptdump_info, "efi_page_tables");
^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 error generated.
The arm version is still awaiting acceptance [1] but in anticipation
of that patch being merged, restructure this function to call
ptdump_debugfs_register without expecting a return value.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/device-mapper/linux-dm
Pull device mapper updates from Mike Snitzer:
- Update bio-based DM core to always call blk_queue_split() and update
DM targets to properly advertise discard limits that
blk_queue_split() looks at when dtermining to split discard. Whereby
allowing DM core's own 'split_discard_bios' to be removed.
- Improve DM cache target to provide support for discard passdown to
the origin device.
- Introduce support to directly boot to a DM mapped device from init by
using dm-mod.create= module param. This eliminates the need for an
elaborate initramfs that is otherwise needed to create DM devices.
This feature's implementation has been worked on for quite some time
(got up to v12) and is of particular interest to Android and other
more embedded platforms (e.g. ARM).
- Rate limit errors from the DM integrity target that were identified
as the cause for recent NMI hangs due to console limitations.
- Add sanity checks for user input to thin-pool and external snapshot
creation.
- Remove some unused leftover kmem caches from when old .request_fn
request-based support was removed.
- Various small cleanups and fixes to targets (e.g. typos, needless
unlikely() annotations, use struct_size(), remove needless
.direct_access method from dm-snapshot)

When using dm-integrity underneath md-raid, some tests with raid
auto-correction trigger large amounts of integrity failures - and all
these failures print an error message. These messages can bring the
system to a halt if the system is using serial console.
Fix this by limiting the rate of error messages - it improves the speed
of raid recovery and avoids the hang.

DM cache now defaults to passing discards down to the origin device.
User may disable this using the "no_discard_passdown" feature when
creating the cache device.
If the cache's underlying origin device doesn't support discards then
passdown is disabled (with warning). Similarly, if the underlying
origin device's max_discard_sectors is less than a cache block discard
passdown will be disabled (this is required because sizing of the cache
internal discard bitset depends on it).

Add a "create" module parameter, which allows device-mapper targets to
be configured at boot time. This enables early use of DM targets in the
boot process (as the root device or otherwise) without the need of an
initramfs.
The syntax used in the boot param is based on the concise format from
the dmsetup tool to follow the rule of least surprise:
dmsetup table --concise /dev/mapper/lroot
Which is:
dm-mod.create=<name>,<uuid>,<minor>,<flags>,<table>[,<table>+][;<name>,<uuid>,<minor>,<flags>,<table>[,<table>+]+]
Where,
<name> ::= The device name.
<uuid> ::= xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx | ""
<minor> ::= The device minor number | ""
<flags> ::= "ro" | "rw"
<table> ::= <start_sector> <num_sectors> <target_type> <target_args>
<target_type> ::= "verity" | "linear" | ...
For example, the following could be added in the boot parameters:
dm-mod.create="lroot,,,rw, 0 4096 linear 98:16 0, 4096 4096 linear 98:32 0" root=/dev/dm-0
Only the targets that were tested are allowed and the ones that don't
change any block device when the device is create as read-only. For
example, mirror and cache targets are not allowed. The rationale behind
this is that if the user makes a mistake, choosing the wrong device to
be the mirror or the cache can corrupt data.
The only targets initially allowed are:
* crypt
* delay
* linear
* snapshot-origin
* striped
* verity

Invoking dm_get_device() twice on the same device path with different
modes is dangerous. Because in that case, upgrade_mode() will alloc a
new 'dm_dev' and free the old one, which may be referenced by a previous
caller. Dereferencing the dangling pointer will trigger kernel NULL
pointer dereference.
The following two cases can reproduce this issue. Actually, they are
invalid setups that must be disallowed, e.g.:
1. Creating a thin-pool with read_only mode, and the same device as
both metadata and data.
dmsetup create thinp --table \

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:
struct foo {
int stuff;
void *entry[];
};
instance = kzalloc(sizeof(struct foo) + sizeof(void *) * count, GFP_KERNEL);
Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:
instance = kzalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL);
This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle.

There is no need to have DM core split discards on behalf of a DM target
now that blk_queue_split() handles splitting discards based on the
queue_limits. A DM target just needs to set max_discard_sectors,
discard_granularity, etc, in queue_limits.

Must call blk_queue_split() otherwise queue_limits for abnormal requests
(e.g. discard, writesame, etc) won't be imposed.
In addition, add dm_queue_split() to simplify DM specific splitting that
is needed for targets that impose ti->max_io_len.

Additionally Christoph refactored gdth as part of the dma changes. The
major mid-layer change this time is the removal of bidi commands and

major simplification for block and mq in particular"

[ 5526.588562] scsi_alloc_sdev: Allocation failure during SCSI scanning, some SCSI devices might not be configured
Looking at the code of scsi_alloc_sdev(), and all the calling contexts,
there seems to be no reason to use GFP_ATMOIC here. All the different
call-contexts use a mutex at some point, and nothing in between that
requires no sleeping, as far as I could see. Additionally, the code that
later allocates the block queue for the device (scsi_mq_alloc_queue())
already uses GFP_KERNEL.
There are similar allocations in two other functions:
scsi_probe_and_add_lun(), and scsi_add_lun(),; that can also be done with
GFP_KERNEL.
Here is the contexts for the three functions so far:
scsi_alloc_sdev()
scsi_probe_and_add_lun()
scsi_sequential_lun_scan()
__scsi_scan_target()
scsi_scan_target()
mutex_lock()
scsi_scan_channel()
scsi_scan_host_selected()

__scsi_scan_target()
...

...
scsi_get_host_dev()
mutex_lock()
scsi_probe_and_add_lun()
...
scsi_add_lun()
scsi_probe_and_add_lun()
...
So replace all these, and give them a bit of a better chance to succeed,
with more chances of reclaim.
