* vfs: remove ".readlink = generic_readlink" assignmentsMiklos Szeredi2016-12-091-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | If .readlink == NULL implies generic_readlink(). Generated by: to_del="\.readlink.*=.*generic_readlink" for i in `git grep -l $to_del`; do sed -i "/$to_del"/d $i; done Signed-off-by: Miklos Szeredi <mszeredi@redhat.com>

* replace ->follow_link() with new method that could stay in RCU modeAl Viro2015-12-091-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | new method: ->get_link(); replacement of ->follow_link(). The differences are: * inode and dentry are passed separately * might be called both in RCU and non-RCU mode; the former is indicated by passing it a NULL dentry. * when called that way it isn't allowed to block and should return ERR_PTR(-ECHILD) if it needs to be called in non-RCU mode. It's a flagday change - the old method is gone, all in-tree instances converted. Conversion isn't hard; said that, so far very few instances do not immediately bail out when called in RCU mode. That'll change in the next commits. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* don't put symlink bodies in pagecache into highmemAl Viro2015-12-091-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | kmap() in page_follow_link_light() needed to go - allowing to hold an arbitrary number of kmaps for long is a great way to deadlocking the system. new helper (inode_nohighmem(inode)) needs to be used for pagecache symlinks inodes; done for all in-tree cases. page_follow_link_light() instrumented to yell about anything missed. * Fix remount races with symlink handling in affsAl Viro2010-01-271-2/+5
| | | | | | | | A couple of fields in affs_sb_info is used in follow_link() and symlink() for handling AFFS "absolute" symlinks. Need locking against affs_remount() updates. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
* [PATCH] mark struct inode_operations const 1Arjan van de Ven2007-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Many struct inode_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. * [PATCH] mark address_space_operations constChristoph Hellwig2006-06-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Same as with already do with the file operations: keep them in .rodata and prevents people from doing runtime patching. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
