* nfsd: Remove deprecated nfsctl system call and related code.NeilBrown2011-07-161-100/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As promised in feature-removal-schedule.txt it is time to remove the nfsctl system call. Userspace has perferred to not use this call throughout 2.6 and it has been excluded in the default configuration since 2.6.36 (9 months ago). So this patch removes all the code that was being compiled out. There are still references to sys_nfsctl in various arch systemcall tables and related code. These should be cleaned out too, probably in the next merge window. Signed-off-by: NeilBrown <neilb@suse.de> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@redhat.com>
* open-style analog of vfs_path_lookup()Al Viro2011-03-141-17/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | new function: file_open_root(dentry, mnt, name, flags) opens the file vfs_path_lookup would arrive to. Note that name can be empty; in that case the usual requirement that dentry should be a directory is lifted. open-coded equivalents switched to it, may_open() got down exactly one caller and became static. * CRED: Pass credentials through dentry_open()David Howells2008-11-141-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Pass credentials through dentry_open() so that the COW creds patch can have SELinux's flush_unauthorized_files() pass the appropriate creds back to itself when it opens its null chardev. The security_dentry_open() call also now takes a creds pointer, as does the dentry_open hook in struct security_operations. * Embed a struct path into struct nameidata instead of nd->{dentry,mnt}Jan Blunck2008-02-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is the central patch of a cleanup series. In most cases there is no good reason why someone would want to use a dentry for itself. This series reflects that fact and embeds a struct path into nameidata. Together with the other patches of this series - it enforced the correct order of getting/releasing the reference count on <dentry,vfsmount> pairs - it prepares the VFS for stacking support since it is essential to have a struct path in every place where the stack can be traversed - it reduces the overall code size: without patch series: text data bss dec hex filename 5321639 858418 715768 6895825 6938d1 vmlinux with patch series: text data bss dec hex filename 5320026 858418 715768 6894212 693284 vmlinux This patch: Switch from nd->{dentry,mnt} to nd->path.{dentry,mnt} everywhere. * [PATCH] nfsservctl(): remove user-triggerable printkPeter Staubach2006-03-171-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A user can use nfsservctl() to spam the logs. This can happen because the arguments to the nfsservctl() system call are versioned. This is a good thing. However, when a bad version is detected, the kernel prints a message and then returns an error. * [PATCH] EDAC: atomic scrub operationsAlan Cox2006-01-191-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | EDAC requires a way to scrub memory if an ECC error is found and the chipset does not do the work automatically. That means rewriting memory locations atomically with respect to all CPUs _and_ bus masters. That means we can't use atomic_add(foo, 0) as it gets optimised for non-SMP This adds a function to include/asm-foo/atomic.h for the platforms currently supported which implements a scrub of a mapped block. It also adjusts a few other files include order where atomic.h is included before types.h as this now causes an error as atomic_scrub uses u32. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
