* quota: mark PRINT_QUOTA_WARNING as BROKENYangtao Li2023-04-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | PRINT_QUOTA_WARNING is deprecated since commit 8e8934695dfd ("quota: send messages via netlink") merged in 2007. Users should rather be using notification over netlink socket if they are interested about explicit notification in addition to plain EDQUOT error. Since printing to console from deep inside filesystem code is problematic, mark the feature as BROKEN now and see who complains. * fs/quota: Remove "select SRCU"Paul E. McKenney2023-02-031-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Now that the SRCU Kconfig option is unconditionally selected, there is no longer any point in selecting it. Therefore, remove the "select SRCU" Kconfig statements. * Replace HTTP links with HTTPS ones: DISKQUOTAAlexander A. Klimov2020-07-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. * rcu: Make SRCU optional by using CONFIG_SRCUPranith Kumar2015-01-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | SRCU is not necessary to be compiled by default in all cases. For tinification efforts not compiling SRCU unless necessary is desirable. The current patch tries to make compiling SRCU optional by introducing a new Kconfig option CONFIG_SRCU which is selected when any of the components making use of SRCU are selected. If we do not select CONFIG_SRCU, srcu.o will not be compiled at all. text data bss dec hex filename 2007 0 0 2007 7d7 kernel/rcu/srcu.o Size of arch/powerpc/boot/zImage changes from text data bss dec hex filename 831552 64180 23944 919676 e087c arch/powerpc/boot/zImage : before 829504 64180 23952 917636 e0084 arch/powerpc/boot/zImage : after so the savings are about ~2000 bytes. * quota: Make QUOTACTL config be selected by its usersJan Kara2010-10-051-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Remove "depends on" line from QUOTACTL config option and rather select the option explicitely from config options which need it. It makes more sense this way and also fixes Kconfig warning due to GFS2 selecting QUOTACTL but QUOTACTL not depending on it. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>
* quota: Convert __DQUOT_PARANOIA symbol to standard config optionJan Kara2010-04-201-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | Make __DQUOT_PARANOIA define from the old days a standard config option and turn it off by default. This gets rid of a quota warning about writes before quota is turned on for systems with ext4 root filesystem. Currently there's no way to legally solve this because /etc/mtab has to be written before quota is turned on on most systems. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>

* quota: Implement quota format with 64-bit space and inode limitsJan Kara2009-12-101-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | So far the maximum quota space limit was 4TB. Apparently this isn't enough for Lustre guys anymore. So implement new quota format which raises block limits to 2^64 bytes. Also store number of inodes and inode limits in 64-bit variables as 2^32 files isn't that insanely high anymore. * VFS: Export dquot_send_warningSteven Whitehouse2009-12-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Sending a message to userspace in a generic format to warn of events (e.g. quota exceeded) in the quota subsystem is a generically useful feature. This patch makes some minor changes to the send_message function from dquot.c renaming it quota_send_message, moving it to quota.c and exporting it for use by filesystems which do not use the dquot code.
