* UAPI: Set up uapi/asm/Kbuild.asmDavid Howells2012-10-021-45/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Set up uapi/asm/Kbuild.asm. This requires the mandatory headers to be dynamically detected. The same goes for include/asm/Kbuild.asm. The problem is that the header files will be split or moved one at a time, but each header file in Kbuild.asm's list applies to all arch headers of that name simultaneously. The dynamic detection of mandatory files can be undone later. * include: replace unifdef-y with header-ySam Ravnborg2010-08-141-33/+34
| | | | | | | | | unifdef-y and header-y has same semantic. So there is no need to have both. Drop the unifdef-y variant and sort all lines again Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>

* asm-generic: introduce asm/bitsperlong.hArnd Bergmann2009-06-111-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This provides a reliable way for asm-generic/types.h and other files to find out if it is running on a 32 or 64 bit platform. We cannot use CONFIG_64BIT for this in headers that are included from user space because CONFIG symbols are not available there. We also cannot do it inside of asm/types.h because some headers need the word size but cannot include types.h. The solution is to introduce a new header <asm/bitsperlong.h> that defines both __BITS_PER_LONG for user space and BITS_PER_LONG for usage in the kernel. The asm-generic version falls back to 32 bit unless the architecture overrides it, which I did for all 64 bit platforms. * Fix conditional export of kvh.h and a.out.h to userspace.Khem Raj2008-09-051-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | | Some architectures have moved the asm/ into arch/ and some have not. This patch checks for a.out.h and kvh.h in both places before exporting the corresponding file from linux/ [dwmw2: simplified a little] Signed-off-by: Khem Raj <raj.khem@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <David.Woodhouse@intel.com>
* remove dummy asm/kvm.h filesAdrian Bunk2008-07-251-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the dummy asm/kvm.h files on architectures not (yet) supporting KVM and uses the same conditional headers installation as already used for a.out.h . Also removed are superfluous install rules in the s390 and x86 Kbuild files (they are already in Kbuild.asm). * kvm: provide kvm.h for all architecture: fixes headers_installChristian Borntraeger2008-04-031-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently include/linux/kvm.h is not considered by make headers_install, because Kbuild cannot handle " unifdef-$(CONFIG_FOO) += foo.h. This problem was introduced by commit fb56dbb31c4738a3918db81fd24da732ce3b4ae6 Author: Avi Kivity <avi@qumranet.com> Date: Sun Dec 2 10:50:06 2007 +0200 KVM: Export include/linux/kvm.h only if $ARCH actually supports KVM Currently, make headers_check barfs due to <asm/kvm.h>, which <linux/kvm.h> includes, not existing. Rather than add a zillion <asm/kvm.h>s, export kvm. only if the arch actually supports it. Signed-off-by: Avi Kivity <avi@qumranet.com> which makes this an 2.6.25 regression. One way of solving the issue is to enhance Kbuild, but Avi and David conviced me, that changing headers_install is not the way to go. This patch changes the definition for linux/kvm.h to unifdef-y. If  unifdef-y is used for linux/kvm.h "make headers_check" will fail on all architectures without asm/kvm.h. Therefore, this patch also provides asm/kvm.h on all architectures. * aout: suppress A.OUT library support if !CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUTDavid Howells2008-02-081-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Suppress A.OUT library support if CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT is not set. Not all architectures support the A.OUT binfmt, so the ELF binfmt should not be permitted to go looking for A.OUT libraries to load in such a case. Not only that, but under such conditions A.OUT core dumps are not produced either. To make this work, this patch also does the following: (1) Makes the existence of the contents of linux/a.out.h contingent on CONFIG_ARCH_SUPPORTS_AOUT. (2) Renames dump_thread() to aout_dump_thread() as it's only called by A.OUT core dumping code. (3) Moves aout_dump_thread() into asm/a.out-core.h and makes it inline. This is then included only where needed. This means that this bit of arch code will be stored in the appropriate A.OUT binfmt module rather than the core kernel. (4) Drops A.OUT support for Blackfin (according to Mike Frysinger it's not needed) and FRV. This patch depends on the previous patch to move STACK_TOP[_MAX] out of asm/a.out.h and into asm/processor.h as they're required whether or not A.OUT format is available. * [PATCH] headers_check: remove <asm/timex.h> from user exportDavid Woodhouse2006-09-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There's useful stuff in <linux/timex.h> but <asm/timex.h> has nothing for userspace. Stop exporting it, and include it only from within the existing #ifdef __KERNEL__ part of <linux/timex.h> This fixes a 'make headers_check' failure on i386 because asm-i386/timex.h includes both asm-i386/tsc.h and asm-i386/processor.h, neither of which are exported to userspace. It's not entirely clear _why_ it includes either of these, but it does. * [PATCH] hdrinstall: remove asm/io.h from user visibilityDavid Woodhouse2006-07-151-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | There's no excuse for userspace abusing this kernel header -- the kernel's headers are not intended to provide a library of helper routines for userspace. * [PATCH] hdrinstall: remove asm/atomic.h from user visibilityDavid Woodhouse2006-07-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This isn't suitable for userspace to see -- the kernel headers are not a random library of stuff for userspace; they're only there to define the kernel<->user ABI for system libraries and tools. Anything which _was_ abusing asm/atomic.h from userspace was probably broken anyway -- as it often didn't even give atomic operation.
