To avoid "#ifdef CONFIG_PCI" in the drivers we should provide stubs in
place of OF PCI address accessors.
Without these stubs build breaks for drivers not strictly requiring PCI,
for example CONFIG_FB_OF=y without CONFIG_PCI:
LD .tmp_vmlinux1
drivers/built-in.o: In function `offb_map_reg':
offb.c:(.text+0x6e7c): undefined reference to `of_get_pci_address'
OF PCI IRQ accessors require pci_dev argument, so drivers using PCI
IRQs should depend on CONFIG_PCI anyway.

This adds a variant of of_translate_address that uses the dma-ranges

node compatibility
The current code assumes "foo-bar" must always be compatible with a node
compatible with "foo", which breaks device trees where this is not so.
The "case" part is also wrong according to Open Firmware, but it's more
likely to have drivers and/or device trees depending on it, and thus
needs to be handled more carefully.

This consolidates the routines of_find_node_by_path, of_find_node_by_name,
of_find_node_by_type and of_find_compatible_device. Again, the comparison
of strings are done differently by Sparc and PowerPC and also these add
read_locks around the iterations.

The only change here is that a readlock is taken while the property list

Also, Sparc uses strcasecmp to compare property names while PowerPC

When the refcount for a device node goes to 0, we call the
destructor - of_node_release(). This should only happen if we've
already detached the node from the device tree.
So add a flag OF_DETACHED which tracks detached-ness, and if we
find ourselves in of_node_release() without it set, issue a
warning and don't free the device_node. To avoid warning
continuously reinitialise the kref to a sane value.

This patch updates booting-without-of.txt to describe version 17 of
the flattened device tree format. Version 17 is a small, backwards
compatible change from version 16, adding an extra field giving the
size of the device tree's structure block. At this time, the kernel
has no use for the extra information, however its presence can make
life easier for bootloaders or other software manipulating the tree.
In addition this patch adds information on the size_dt_strings field
of the device tree header, present since version 3 of the flattened
tree format, but omitted from the documentation. It also makes
changes to consistently refer to versions 16 and 17 as versions 16 and
17 in decimal, rather than version 0x10 which was occasionally used
for version 16 previously.
Finally, we also add the new field to the definition of the device
tree header structure in prom.h

Add function of_get_mac_address(), which obtains the best MAC address to use
from the device tree by checking various properties in order. The order is:
'mac-address', then 'local-mac-address', then 'address'. It skips properties
that contain invalid MAC addresses, which were probably not initialized
by U-Boot.

of_get_mac_address().

assumed without checking that properties were the length we wanted,

Device-tree bugs on js20 with some versions of SLOF were causing the
interrupt for IDE to not be parsed correctly and fail to boot. This
patch adds a bit more sanity checking to the parser to detect some of
those errors and fail instead of returning bogus information. The
powerpc PCI code can then trigger a fallback that works on those
machines.

Previous changes have treated the return values of get_property as
const, so now we can make the actual change to get_property(). There
shouldn't be a need to cast the return values anymore.
We will now get compiler warnings when property values are assigned to
a non-const variable.
If properties need to be updated, there's still the of_find_property
function.

This adds the new irq remapper core and removes the old one. Because
there are some fundamental conflicts with the old code, like the value
of NO_IRQ which I'm now setting to 0 (as per discussions with Linus),
etc..., this commit also changes the relevant platform and driver code
over to use the new remapper (so as not to cause difficulties later
in bisecting).
This patch removes the old pre-parsing of the open firmware interrupt
tree along with all the bogus assumptions it made to try to renumber
interrupts according to the platform. This is all to be handled by the
new code now.
For the pSeries XICS interrupt controller, a single remapper host is
created for the whole machine regardless of how many interrupt
presentation and source controllers are found, and it's set to match
any device node that isn't a 8259. That works fine on pSeries and
avoids having to deal with some of the complexities of split source
controllers vs. presentation controllers in the pSeries device trees.
The powerpc i8259 PIC driver now always requests the legacy interrupt
range. It also has the feature of being able to match any device node
(including NULL) if passed no device node as an input. That will help
porting over platforms with broken device-trees like Pegasos who don't
have a proper interrupt tree.

This is a first version of support for the Cell BE "Reliability,
Availability and Serviceability" features.
It doesn't yet handle some of the RAS interrupts (the ones described in
iic_is/iic_irr), I'm still working on a proper way to expose these. They
are essentially a cascaded controller by themselves (sic !) though I may
just handle them locally to the iic driver. I need also to sync with
David Erb on the way he hooked in the performance monitor interrupt.
So that's all for 2.6.17 and I'll do more work on that with my rework of
the powerpc interrupt layer that I'm hacking on at the moment.

This removes statically assigned platform numbers and reworks the
powerpc platform probe code to use a better mechanism. With this,
board support files can simply declare a new machine type with a
macro, and implement a probe() function that uses the flattened
device-tree to detect if they apply for a given machine.
We now have a machine_is() macro that replaces the comparisons of
_machine with the various PLATFORM_* constants. This commit also
changes various drivers to use the new macro instead of looking at
_machine.

It's possible for prom_init to allocate the flat device tree inside the
kdump crash kernel region. If this happens, when we load the kdump kernel we
overwrite the flattened device tree, which is bad.
We could make prom_init try and avoid allocating inside the crash kernel
region, but then we run into issues if the crash kernel region uses all the
space inside the RMO. The easiest solution is to move the flat device tree
once we're running in the kernel.
