Add charset encoding to f2fs to support casefolding. It is modeled after
the same feature introduced in commit c83ad55eaa91 ("ext4: include charset
encoding information in the superblock")
Currently this is not compatible with encryption, similar to the current
ext4 imlpementation. This will change in the future.
>From the ext4 patch:
"""
The s_encoding field stores a magic number indicating the encoding
format and version used globally by file and directory names in the
filesystem. The s_encoding_flags defines policies for using the charset
encoding, like how to handle invalid sequences. The magic number is
mapped to the exact charset table, but the mapping is specific to ext4.
Since we don't have any commitment to support old encodings, the only
encoding I am supporting right now is utf8-12.1.0.
The current implementation prevents the user from enabling encoding and
per-directory encryption on the same filesystem at the same time. The
incompatibility between these features lies in how we do efficient
directory searches when we cannot be sure the encryption of the user
provided fname will match the actual hash stored in the disk without
decrypting every directory entry, because of normalization cases. My
quickest solution is to simply block the concurrent use of these
features for now, and enable it later, once we have a better solution.

Since 07173c3ec276 ("block: enable multipage bvecs"), one bio vector
can store multi pages, so that we can not calculate max IO size of
bio as PAGE_SIZE * bio->bi_max_vecs. However IO alignment feature of
f2fs always has that assumption, so finally, it may cause panic during
IO submission as below stack.

Quoted from
commit 3da40c7b0898 ("ext4: only call ext4_truncate when size <= isize")
" At LSF we decided that if we truncate up from isize we shouldn't trim
fallocated blocks that were fallocated with KEEP_SIZE and are past the
new i_size. This patch fixes ext4 to do this. "
And generic/092 of fstest have covered this case for long time, however
is_quota_modification() didn't adjust based on that rule, so that in
below condition, we will lose to quota block change:
- fallocate blocks beyond EOF
- remount
- truncate(file_path, file_size)
Fix it.

Currently, we don't have vfs nodes for querying the underlying flash name
and flash id. This information is important especially when we want to
know the flash detail of the defective system. In order to support the
query, we add mtd_debugfs_populate() to create two debugfs nodes
(ie. partname and partid). The upper driver can assign the pointer to
partname and partid before calling mtd_device_register().

nor->params.setup() configures the SPI NOR memory. Useful for SPI NOR
flashes that have peculiarities to the SPI NOR standard, e.g.
different opcodes, specific address calculation, page size, etc.
Right now the only user will be the S3AN chips, but other
manufacturers can implement it if needed.
Move spi_nor_setup() related code in order to avoid a forward

In order to separate manufacturer quirks from the core we need to get
rid of all the manufacturer specific flags, like the
SNOR_F_S3AN_ADDR_DEFAULT one.
This can easily be replaced by a ->convert_addr() hook, which when
implemented will provide the core with an easy way to convert an
absolute address into something the flash understands.
Right now the only user are the S3AN chips, but other manufacturers
can implement it if needed.

All flash parameters and settings should reside inside
'struct spi_nor_flash_parameter'. Move the SMPT parsed erase map
from 'struct spi_nor' to 'struct spi_nor_flash_parameter'.
Please note that there is a roll-back mechanism for the flash
parameter and settings, for cases when SFDP parser fails. The SFDP
parser receives a Stack allocated copy of nor->params, called
sfdp_params, and uses it to retrieve the serial flash discoverable
parameters. JESD216 SFDP is a standard and has a higher priority
than the default initialized flash parameters, so will overwrite the
sfdp_params data when needed. All SFDP code uses the local copy of
nor->params, that will overwrite it in the end, if the parser succeds.
Saving and restoring the nor->params.erase_map is no longer needed,
since the SFDP code does not touch it.

The scope is to move all [FLASH-SPECIFIC] parameters and settings

legacy flash parameters and settings that can be overwritten by the

The m25p80 driver is actually a generic wrapper around the spi-mem
layer. Not only the driver name is misleading, but we'd expect such a
common logic to be directly available in the core. Another reason for
moving this code is that SPI NOR controller drivers should
progressively be replaced by SPI controller drivers implementing the
spi_mem_ops interface, and when the conversion is done, we should have
a single spi-nor driver directly interfacing with the spi-mem layer.
While moving the code we also fix a longstanding issue when
non-DMA-able buffers are passed by the MTD layer.

spi-mem layer expects all buffers passed to it to be DMA'able. But
spi-nor layer mostly allocates buffers on stack for reading/writing to
registers and therefore are not DMA'able. Introduce bounce buffer to be
used to read/write to registers. This ensures that buffer passed to
spi-mem layer during register read/writes is DMA'able. With this change
nor->cmd-buf is no longer used, so drop it.

In the process of debugging a system with an NVDIMM that was failing to
unlock it was found that the kernel is reporting 'locked' while the DIMM
security interface is 'frozen'. Unfortunately the security state is
tracked internally as an enum which prevents it from communicating the
difference between 'locked' and 'locked + frozen'. It follows that the
enum also prevents the kernel from communicating 'unlocked + frozen'
which would be useful for debugging why security operations like 'change
passphrase' are disabled.
Ditch the security state enum for a set of flags and introduce a new
sysfs attribute explicitly for the 'frozen' state. The regression risk
is low because the 'frozen' state was already blocked behind the
'locked' state, but will need to revisit if there were cases where
applications need 'frozen' to show up in the primary 'security'
attribute. The expectation is that communicating 'frozen' is mostly a
helper for debug and status monitoring.

When CONFIG_UAPI_HEADER_TEST=y, exported headers are compile-tested to make
sure they can be included from user-space.
Currently, scsi_bsg_fc.h, scsi_netlink.h, and scsi_netlink_fc.h are
excluded from the test coverage. To make them join the compile-test, we
need to fix the build errors attached below.
For a case like this, we decided to use __u{8,16,32,64} variable types in

Since struct sg_table is used in nvme-fc-driver.h, include

Since no definitions or declarations from <linux/blk-mq.h> are used in the

The data structure used for log messages is so large that it can cause a
boot failure. Since allocations from that data structure can fail anyway,
use kmalloc() / kfree() instead of that data structure.

This allows a list of requests to be issued, with the LLD only writing the
hardware doorbell when necessary, after the last request was prepared.
This is more efficient if we have lists of requests to issue, particularly
on virtualized hardware, where writing the doorbell is more expensive than
on real hardware.
The use case for this is plugged IO, where blk-mq flushes a batch of
requests all at once.
The API is the same as for blk-mq, just with blk-mq concepts tweaked to
fit the SCSI subsystem API: the "last" flag in blk_mq_queue_data becomes a
flag in scsi_cmnd, while the queue_num in the commit_rqs callback is
extracted from the hctx and passed as a parameter.
The only complication is that blk-mq uses different plugging heuristics
depending on whether commit_rqs is present or not. So we have two
different sets of blk_mq_ops and pick one depending on whether the
scsi_host template uses commit_rqs or not.

Pull device mapper updates from Mike Snitzer:
- crypto and DM crypt advances that allow the crypto API to reclaim
implementation details that do not belong in DM crypt. The wrapper
template for ESSIV generation that was factored out will also be used
by fscrypt in the future.
- Add root hash pkcs#7 signature verification to the DM verity target.
- Add a new "clone" DM target that allows for efficient remote
replication of a device.
- Enhance DM bufio's cache to be tailored to each client based on use.
Clients that make heavy use of the cache get more of it, and those
that use less have reduced cache usage.
- Add a new DM_GET_TARGET_VERSION ioctl to allow userspace to query the
version number of a DM target (even if the associated module isn't
yet loaded).
- Fix invalid memory access in DM zoned target.
- Fix the max_discard_sectors limit advertised by the DM raid target;
it was mistakenly storing the limit in bytes rather than sectors.
- Small optimizations and cleanups in DM writecache target.
- Various fixes and cleanups in DM core, DM raid1 and space map portion
of DM persistent data library.

This commit introduces a new ioctl DM_GET_TARGET_VERSION. It will load a
target that is specified in the "name" entry in the parameter structure
and return its version.
This functionality is intended to be used by cryptsetup, so that it can
query kernel capabilities before activating the device.

Send and Receive completion is handled on a single CPU selected at
the time each Completion Queue is allocated. Typically this is when
an initiator instantiates an RDMA transport, or when a target
accepts an RDMA connection.
Some ULPs cannot open a connection per CPU to spread completion
workload across available CPUs and MSI vectors. For such ULPs,
provide an API that allows the RDMA core to select a completion
vector based on the device's complement of available comp_vecs.
ULPs that invoke ib_alloc_cq() with only comp_vector 0 are converted
to use the new API so that their completion workloads interfere less
with each other.
