We can teardown sysfs first, then to be sure, put the state in

We don't export any symbols > 128 characters, but if we did then
kallsyms_expand_symbol() would overflow the buffer handed to it.
So we need check destination buffer length when copying.
the related test:
if we define an EXPORT function which name more than 128.
will panic when call kallsyms_lookup_name by init_kprobes on booting.
after check the length (provide this patch), it is ok.
Implementaion:
add additional destination buffer length parameter (maxlen)
if uncompressed string is too long (>= maxlen), it will be truncated.
not check the parameters whether valid, since it is a static function.

When compiling kernel with -jN (N > 1), all warning/error messages
printed while openssl is generating key pair may get mixed dots and
other symbols openssl sends to stderr. This patch makes sure openssl
logs go to default stdout.

Fix symbol versioning on architectures with symbol prefixes. Although
the build was free from warnings the actual modules still wouldn't load
as the ____versions table contained unprefixed symbol names, which were
being compared against the prefixed symbol names when checking the
symbol versions.
This is fixed by modifying modpost to add the symbol prefix to the
____versions table it outputs (Modules.symvers still contains unprefixed
symbol names). The check_modstruct_version() function is also fixed as
it checks the version of the unprefixed "module_layout" symbol which
would no longer work.

We have CONFIG_SYMBOL_PREFIX, which three archs define to the string
"_". But Al Viro broke this in "consolidate cond_syscall and
SYSCALL_ALIAS declarations" (in linux-next), and he's not the first to
do so.
Using CONFIG_SYMBOL_PREFIX is awkward, since we usually just want to
prefix it so something. So various places define helpers which are
defined to nothing if CONFIG_SYMBOL_PREFIX isn't set:
1) include/asm-generic/unistd.h defines __SYMBOL_PREFIX.
2) include/asm-generic/vmlinux.lds.h defines VMLINUX_SYMBOL(sym)
3) include/linux/export.h defines MODULE_SYMBOL_PREFIX.
4) include/linux/kernel.h defines SYMBOL_PREFIX (which differs from #7)
5) kernel/modsign_certificate.S defines ASM_SYMBOL(sym)
6) scripts/modpost.c defines MODULE_SYMBOL_PREFIX
7) scripts/Makefile.lib defines SYMBOL_PREFIX on the commandline if
CONFIG_SYMBOL_PREFIX is set, so that we have a non-string version
for pasting.
(arch/h8300/include/asm/linkage.h defines SYMBOL_NAME(), too).
Let's solve this properly:
1) No more generic prefix, just CONFIG_HAVE_UNDERSCORE_SYMBOL_PREFIX.
2) Make linux/export.h usable from asm.
3) Define VMLINUX_SYMBOL() and VMLINUX_SYMBOL_STR().
4) Make everyone use them.

When BSD process accounting is enabled and logs information to a
filesystem which gets frozen, system easily becomes unusable because
each attempt to account process information blocks. Thus e.g. every task
gets blocked in exit.
It seems better to drop accounting information (which can already happen
when filesystem is running out of space) instead of locking system up.
So we just skip the write if the filesystem is frozen.

KMS drivers can potentially restore the display configuration without
userspace help. Such drivers can can call a new funciton,
pm_vt_switch_required(false) if they support this feature. In that
case, the PM layer won't VT switch to the suspend console at suspend
time and then back to the original VT on resume, but rather leave things
alone for a nicer looking suspend and resume sequence.

Dave Hansen reported strange utime/stime values on his system:

This happens because prev->stime value is bigger than rtime
value. Root of the problem are non-monotonic rtime values (i.e.
current rtime is smaller than previous rtime) and that should be
debugged and fixed.
But since problem did not manifest itself before commit
62188451f0d63add7ad0cd2a1ae269d600c1663d "cputime: Avoid
multiplication overflow on utime scaling", it should be threated
as regression, which we can easily fixed on cputime_adjust()
function.
For now, let's apply this fix, but further work is needed to fix
root of the problem.

Due to rounding in scale_stime(), for big numbers, scaled stime
values will grow in chunks. Since rtime grow in jiffies and we
calculate utime like below:
prev->stime = max(prev->stime, stime);
prev->utime = max(prev->utime, rtime - prev->stime);
we could erroneously account stime values as utime. To prevent
that only update prev->{u,s}time values when they are smaller
than current rtime.

Here is patch, which adds Linus's cputime scaling algorithm to the
kernel.
This is a follow up (well, fix) to commit
d9a3c9823a2e6a543eb7807fb3d15d8233817ec5 ("sched: Lower chances
of cputime scaling overflow") which commit tried to avoid
multiplication overflow, but did not guarantee that the overflow
would not happen.
Linus crated a different algorithm, which completely avoids the
multiplication overflow by dropping precision when numbers are
big.
It was tested by me and it gives good relative error of
scaled numbers. Testing method is described here:

Supply a function (proc_remove()) to remove a proc entry (and any subtree
rooted there) by proc_dir_entry pointer rather than by name and (optionally)
root dir entry pointer. This allows us to eliminate all remaining pde->name
accesses outside of procfs.

The only part of proc_dir_entry the code outside of fs/proc
really cares about is PDE(inode)->data. Provide a helper
for that; static inline for now, eventually will be moved
to fs/proc, along with the knowledge of struct proc_dir_entry
layout.

The e{uid,gid} --> {uid,gid} credentials fix conflicted with the
cleanup in net-next to now pass cred structs around.
The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN
interface changes by Patrick McHardy in net-next.
An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was
reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that
code.
Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all
calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first
argument.
Eric Dumazet's TS ECR fix in TCP in 'net' conflicted with the F-RTO
rewrite in 'net-next', mostly overlapping changes.
Thanks to Stephen Rothwell and Antonio Quartulli for help with several
of these merge resolutions.

Process connector can now also detect coredumping events.
Main aim of patch is get notified at start of coredumping, instead of
having to wait for it to finish and then being notified through EXIT
event.
Could be used for instance by process-managers that want to get
notified as soon as possible about process failures, and not
necessarily beeing notified after coredump, which could be in the
order of minutes depending on size of coredump, piping and so on.

Currently help message of /proc/sysrq-trigger highlight its
upper-case characters, like below:
SysRq : HELP : loglevel(0-9) reBoot Crash terminate-all-tasks(E)
memory-full-oom-kill(F) kill-all-tasks(I) ...
this would confuse user trigger sysrq by upper-case character, which is
inconsistent with the real lower-case character registed key.
This inconsistent help message will also lead more confused when
26 upper-case letters put into use in future.
This patch fix power off sysrq key: "poweroff(o)"

The purpose of this patch is to allow privileged processes to set
their own per-memory memory-region fields:
start_code, end_code, start_data, end_data, start_brk, brk,
start_stack, arg_start, arg_end, env_start, env_end.
This functionality is needed by any application or package that needs to
reconstruct Linux processes, that is, to start them in any way other than
by means of an "execve()" from an executable file. This includes:
1. Restoring processes from a checkpoint-file (by all potential
user-level checkpointing packages, not only CRIU's).
2. Restarting processes on another node after process migration.
3. Starting duplicated copies of a running process (for reliability
and high-availablity).
4. Starting a process from an executable format that is not supported
by Linux, thus requiring a "manual execve" by a user-level utility.
5. Similarly, starting a process from a networked and/or crypted
executable that, for confidentiality, licensing or other reasons,
may not be written to the local file-systems.
The code that does that was already included in the Linux kernel by the
CRIU group, in the form of "prctl(PR_SET_MM)", but prior to this was
enclosed within their private "#ifdef CONFIG_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE", which is
normally disabled. The patch removes those ifdefs.

Macro FIX_SIZE is same as PAGE_ALIGN at present, so use PAGE_ALIGN
instead.

find_next_offset() searches for an available "cleaned bit" in the
respective pid bitmap (page), so returns the offset if found, otherwise
it returns a value equals to BITS_PER_PAGE.
For example, suppose find_next_offset didn't find any available bit, so
there's no purpose to call mk_pid (Wasteful Cpu Cycles).
Therefore, I found it could be better to call mk_pid after the checking
(offset < BITS_PER_PAGE) returned sucessfully! Another point: If (offset
< BITS_PER_PAGE) results in a "failure", then mk_pid would be called
again afterwards.
