* mm/ioremap: fix iomap_max_page_shiftChristophe Leroy2021-05-151-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | iomap_max_page_shift is expected to contain a page shift, so it can't be a 'bool', has to be an 'unsigned int' And fix the default values: P4D_SHIFT is when huge iomap is allowed. However, on some architectures (eg: powerpc book3s/64), P4D_SHIFT is not a constant so it can't be used to initialise a static variable. So, initialise iomap_max_page_shift with a maximum shift supported by the architecture, it is gated by P4D_SHIFT in vmap_try_huge_p4d() anyway. * mm: move vmap_range from mm/ioremap.c to mm/vmalloc.cNicholas Piggin2021-04-301-203/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a generic kernel virtual memory mapper, not specific to ioremap. Code is unchanged other than making vmap_range non-static. * mm: HUGE_VMAP arch support cleanupNicholas Piggin2021-04-301-54/+40
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This changes the awkward approach where architectures provide init functions to determine which levels they can provide large mappings for, to one where the arch is queried for each call. This removes code and indirection, and allows constant-folding of dead code for unsupported levels. This also adds a prot argument to the arch query. This is unused currently but could help with some architectures (e.g., some powerpc processors can't map uncacheable memory with large pages). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The functions are only used in two source files, so there is no need for them to be in the global <linux/mm.h> header. * mm: move lib/ioremap.c to mm/Mike Rapoport2020-08-071-0/+287
The functionality in lib/ioremap.c deals with pagetables, vmalloc and caches, so it naturally belongs to mm/ Moving it there will also allow declaring p?d_alloc_track functions in an header file inside mm/ rather than having those declarations in include/linux/mm.h Suggested-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Mike Rapoport <rppt@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Reviewed-by: Pekka Enberg <penberg@kernel.org> Cc: Abdul Haleem <abdhalee@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Cc: Andy Lutomirski <luto@kernel.org> Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Cc: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu> Cc: Joerg Roedel <joro@8bytes.org> Cc: Joerg Roedel <jroedel@suse.de> Cc: Max Filippov <jcmvbkbc@gmail.com> Cc: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Cc: Satheesh Rajendran <sathnaga@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Cc: Stafford Horne <shorne@gmail.com> Cc: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Cc: Steven Rostedt <rostedt@goodmis.org> Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org> Cc: Matthew Wilcox <willy@infradead.org> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20200627143453.31835-8-rppt@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
