* ipv6: coding style: comparison for equality with NULLIan Morris2015-03-311-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | The ipv6 code uses a mixture of coding styles. In some instances check for NULL pointer is done as x == NULL and sometimes as !x. !x is preferred according to checkpatch and this patch makes the code consistent by adopting the latter form. No changes detected by objdiff. Signed-off-by: Ian Morris <ipm@chirality.org.uk> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* ipv6: invert join/leave anycast rtnl/socket locking orderMarcelo Ricardo Leitner2015-03-201-7/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit baf606d9c9b1 ("ipv4,ipv6: grab rtnl before locking the socket") missed to update two setsockopt options, IPV6_JOIN_ANYCAST and IPV6_LEAVE_ANYCAST, causing a lock inverstion regarding to the updated ones. As ipv6_sock_ac_join and ipv6_sock_ac_leave are only called from do_ipv6_setsockopt, we are good to just move the rtnl lock upper. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If we try to rmmod the driver for an interface while sockets with setsockopt(JOIN_ANYCAST) are alive, some refcounts aren't cleaned up and we get stuck on: unregister_netdevice: waiting for ens3 to become free. Usage count = 1 If we LEAVE_ANYCAST/close everything before rmmod'ing, there is no problem. We need to perform a cleanup similar to the one for multicast in addrconf_ifdown(how == 1). * ipv6: restore the behavior of ipv6_sock_ac_drop()WANG Cong2014-09-081-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It is possible that the interface is already gone after joining the list of anycast on this interface as we don't hold a refcount for the device, in this case we are safe to ignore the error. What's more important, for API compatibility we should not change this behavior for applications even if it were correct. * ipv6: fix rtnl locking in setsockopt for anycast and multicastSabrina Dubroca2014-09-051-0/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Calling setsockopt with IPV6_JOIN_ANYCAST or IPV6_LEAVE_ANYCAST triggers the assertion in addrconf_join_solict()/addrconf_leave_solict() ipv6_sock_ac_join(), ipv6_sock_ac_drop(), ipv6_sock_ac_close() need to take RTNL before calling ipv6_dev_ac_inc/dec. * ipv6: enable anycast addresses as source addresses for datagramsFX Le Bail2014-01-231-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This change allows to consider an anycast address valid as source address when given via an IPV6_PKTINFO or IPV6_2292PKTINFO ancillary data item. So, when sending a datagram with ancillary data, the unicast and anycast addresses are handled in the same way. - Adds ipv6_chk_acast_addr_src() to check if an anycast address is link-local on given interface or is global. - Uses it in ip6_datagram_send_ctl(). * include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2010-03-301-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Anycast DST entries allocated inside ipv6_dev_ac_inc are leaked when network device is stopped without removing IPv6 addresses from it. The bug has been observed in the reality on 2.6.18-rhel5 kernel. In the above case addrconf_ifdown marks all entries as obsolete and ip6_del_rt called from __ipv6_dev_ac_dec returns ENOENT. * [NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.Eric W. Biederman2007-10-111-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes most of the generic device layer network namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a network namespace variable, and then it picks up a few associated variables. The functions: dev_getbyhwaddr dev_getfirsthwbytype dev_get_by_flags dev_get_by_name __dev_get_by_name dev_get_by_index __dev_get_by_index dev_ioctl dev_ethtool dev_load wireless_process_ioctl were modified to take a network namespace argument, and deal with it. vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their hooks will receive a network namespace argument. So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces. For now the ifindex generator is left global. Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else we will have corner case problems with migration when we get that far. At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when you change namespaces, and the like. Signed-off-by: Eric W. * [NET]: Make /proc/net per network namespaceEric W. Biederman2007-10-111-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace. The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument, and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument. This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces. Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents that are relevant to a single network namespace. * [NET]: Rework dev_base via list_head (v3)Pavel Emelianov2007-05-041-7/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | Cleanup of dev_base list use, with the aim to simplify making device list per-namespace. In almost every occasion, use of dev_base variable and dev->next pointer could be easily replaced by for_each_netdev loop. A few most complicated places were converted to using first_netdev()/next_netdev(). * [IPV6]: /proc/net/anycast6 unbalanced inet6_dev refcntDavid Stevens2007-02-281-0/+1
| | | | | | | | Reading /proc/net/anycast6 when there is no anycast address on an interface results in an ever-increasing inet6_dev reference count, as well as a reference to the netdevice you can't get rid of. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau2007-02-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). * [PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 7Arjan van de Ven2007-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources.
