No functional change intended, aliases will be used in followup commits.
Note for backporters: you may need to add aliases also for modules that
are already removed in mainline kernel but still in your version.
Patches were generated with the help of Coccinelle scripts like:

Naresh reports seeing a warning that gred is calling
u64_stats_update_begin() with preemption enabled.
Arnd points out it's coming from _bstats_update().
We should be holding the qdisc lock when writing
to stats, they are also updated from the datapath.

Currently, the change function can be called by two ways. The one way is
that qdisc_change() will call it. Before calling change function,
qdisc_change() ensures tca[TCA_OPTIONS] is not empty. The other way is
that .init() will call it. The opt parameter is also checked before
calling change function in .init(). Therefore, it's no need to check the
input parameter opt in change function.

The only factor differentiating per-CPU bstats data type (struct
gnet_stats_basic_cpu) from the packed non-per-CPU one (struct
gnet_stats_basic_packed) was a u64_stats sync point inside the former.
The two data types are now equivalent: earlier commits added a u64_stats
sync point to the latter.
Combine both data types into "struct gnet_stats_basic_sync". This
eliminates redundancy and simplifies the bstats read/write APIs.
Use u64_stats_t for bstats "packets" and "bytes" data types. On 64-bit
architectures, u64_stats sync points do not use sequence counter
protection.

The Qdisc::running sequence counter, used to protect Qdisc::bstats reads
from parallel writes, is in the process of being removed. Qdisc::bstats
read/writes will synchronize using an internal u64_stats sync point
instead.
Modify all bstats writes to use _bstats_update(). This ensures that
the internal u64_stats sync point is always acquired and released as
appropriate.

The not-per-CPU variant of qdisc tc (traffic control) statistics,
Qdisc::gnet_stats_basic_packed bstats, is protected with Qdisc::running
sequence counter.
This sequence counter is used for reliably protecting bstats reads from
parallel writes. Meanwhile, the seqcount's write section covers a much
wider area than bstats update: qdisc_run_begin() => qdisc_run_end().
That read/write section asymmetry can lead to needless retries of the
read section. To prepare for removing the Qdisc::running sequence
counter altogether, introduce a u64_stats sync point inside bstats
instead.
Modify _bstats_update() to start/end the bstats u64_stats write
section.
For bisectability, and finer commits granularity, the bstats read
section is still protected with a Qdisc::running read/retry loop and
qdisc_run_begin/end() still starts/ends that seqcount write section.
Once all call sites are modified to use _bstats_update(), the
Qdisc::running seqcount will be removed and bstats read/retry loop will
be modified to utilize the internal u64_stats sync point.
Note, using u64_stats implies no sequence counter protection for 64-bit
architectures. This can lead to the statistics "packets" vs. "bytes"
values getting out of sync on rare occasions. The individual values will
still be valid.

We currently have two levels of strict validation:
1) liberal (default)
- undefined (type >= max) & NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
- garbage at end of message accepted
2) strict (opt-in)
- NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted
- attribute length >= expected accepted
Split out parsing strictness into four different options:
* TRAILING - check that there's no trailing data after parsing
attributes (in message or nested)
* MAXTYPE - reject attrs > max known type
* UNSPEC - reject attributes with NLA_UNSPEC policy entries
* STRICT_ATTRS - strictly validate attribute size
The default for future things should be *everything*.
The current *_strict() is a combination of TRAILING and MAXTYPE,
and is renamed to _deprecated_strict().
The current regular parsing has none of this, and is renamed to
*_parse_deprecated().
Additionally it allows us to selectively set one of the new flags
even on old policies. Notably, the UNSPEC flag could be useful in
this case, since it can be arranged (by filling in the policy) to
not be an incompatible userspace ABI change, but would then going
forward prevent forgetting attribute entries. Similar can apply
to the POLICY flag.
We end up with the following renames:
* nla_parse -> nla_parse_deprecated
* nla_parse_strict -> nla_parse_deprecated_strict
* nlmsg_parse -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated
* nlmsg_parse_strict -> nlmsg_parse_deprecated_strict
* nla_parse_nested -> nla_parse_nested_deprecated
* nla_validate_nested -> nla_validate_nested_deprecated
Using spatch, of course:

For this patch, don't actually add the strict, non-renamed versions
yet so that it breaks compile if I get it wrong.
Also, while at it, make nla_validate and nla_parse go down to a
common __nla_validate_parse() function to avoid code duplication.
Ultimately, this allows us to have very strict validation for every
new caller of nla_parse()/nlmsg_parse() etc as re-introduced in the
next patch, while existing things will continue to work as is.
In effect then, this adds fully strict validation for any new command.

Even if the NLA_F_NESTED flag was introduced more than 11 years ago, most
netlink based interfaces (including recently added ones) are still not
setting it in kernel generated messages. Without the flag, message parsers
not aware of attribute semantics (e.g. wireshark dissector or libmnl's
mnl_nlmsg_fprintf()) cannot recognize nested attributes and won't display
the structure of their contents.
Unfortunately we cannot just add the flag everywhere as there may be
userspace applications which check nlattr::nla_type directly rather than
through a helper masking out the flags. Therefore the patch renames
nla_nest_start() to nla_nest_start_noflag() and introduces nla_nest_start()
as a wrapper adding NLA_F_NESTED. The calls which add NLA_F_NESTED manually
are rewritten to use nla_nest_start().
Except for changes in include/net/netlink.h, the patch was generated using
this semantic patch:

Allow users to set and dump RED flags (ECN enabled and harddrop)
on per-virtual queue basis. Validation of attributes is split
from changes to make sure we won't have to undo previous operations
when we find out configuration is invalid.
The objective is to allow changing per-Qdisc parameters without
overwriting the per-vq configured flags.
Old user space will not pass the TCA_GRED_VQ_FLAGS attribute and
per-Qdisc flags will always get propagated to the virtual queues.
New user space which wants to make use of per-vq flags should set
per-Qdisc flags to 0 and then configure per-vq flags as it
sees fit. Once per-vq flags are set per-Qdisc flags can't be
changed to non-zero. Vice versa - if the per-Qdisc flags are
non-zero the TCA_GRED_VQ_FLAGS attribute has to either be omitted
or set to the same value as per-Qdisc flags.
Update per-Qdisc parameters:

0 | non-0 | error (vq flags in use)

Right now ECN marking and HARD drop (the common RED flags) can only
be configured for the entire Qdisc. In preparation for per-vq flags
store the values in the virtual queue structure. Setting per-vq
flags will only be allowed when no flags are set for the entire Qdisc.
For the new flags we will also make sure undefined bits are 0.

Currently all GRED's virtual queue data is dumped in a single
array in a single attribute. This makes it pretty much impossible
to add new fields. In order to expose more detailed stats add a
new set of attributes. We can now expose the 64 bit value of bytesin
and all the mark stats which were not part of the original design.

gred_change_table_def() takes a pointer to TCA_GRED_DPS attribute,
and expects it will be able to interpret its contents as
struct tc_gred_sopt. Pass the correct gred attribute, instead of
TCA_OPTIONS.
This bug meant the table definition could never be changed after
Qdisc was initialized (unless whatever TCA_OPTIONS contained both
passed netlink validation and was a valid struct tc_gred_sopt...).
Old behaviour:
$ ip link add type dummy
$ tc qdisc replace dev dummy0 parent root handle 7: \
gred setup vqs 4 default 0
$ tc qdisc replace dev dummy0 parent root handle 7: \
gred setup vqs 4 default 0
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
Now:
$ ip link add type dummy
$ tc qdisc replace dev dummy0 parent root handle 7: \
gred setup vqs 4 default 0
$ tc qdisc replace dev dummy0 parent root handle 7: \
gred setup vqs 4 default 0

Qdisc performance suffers when packets are dropped at enqueue()
time because drops (kfree_skb()) are done while qdisc lock is held,
delaying a dequeue() draining the queue.
Nominal throughput can be reduced by 50 % when this happens,
at a time we would like the dequeue() to proceed as fast as possible.
Even FQ is vulnerable to this problem, while one of FQ goals was
to provide some flow isolation.
This patch adds a 'struct sk_buff **to_free' parameter to all
qdisc->enqueue(), and in qdisc_drop() helper.
I measured a performance increase of up to 12 %, but this patch
is a prereq so that future batches in enqueue() can fly.

Four minor merge conflicts:
1) qca_spi.c renamed the local variable used for the SPI device
from spi_device to spi, meanwhile the spi_set_drvdata() call
got moved further up in the probe function.
2) Two changes were both adding new members to codel params
structure, and thus we had overlapping changes to the
initializer function.
3) 'net' was making a fix to sk_release_kernel() which is
completely removed in 'net-next'.
4) In net_namespace.c, the rtnl_net_fill() call for GET operations
had the command value fixed, meanwhile 'net-next' adjusted the
argument signature a bit.
This also matches example merge resolutions posted by Stephen
Rothwell over the past two days.

In WRED mode, the backlog for a single virtual queue (VQ) should not be
used to determine queue behavior; instead the backlog is summed across
all VQs. This sum is currently used when calculating the average queue
lengths. It also needs to be used when determining if the queue's hard
limit has been reached, or when reporting each VQ's backlog via netlink.
q->backlog will only be used if the queue switches out of WRED mode.

In a GRED qdisc, if the default "virtual queue" (VQ) does not have drop
parameters configured, then packets for the default VQ are not subjected
to RED and are only dropped if the queue is larger than the net_device's
tx_queue_len. This behavior is useful for WRED mode, since these packets
will still influence the calculated average queue length and (therefore)
the drop probability for all of the other VQs. However, for some drivers
tx_queue_len is zero. In other cases the user may wish to make the limit
the same for all VQs (including the default VQ with no drop parameters).
This change adds a TCA_GRED_LIMIT attribute to set the GRED queue limit,
in bytes, during qdisc setup. (This limit is in bytes to be consistent
with the drop parameters.) The default limit is the same as for a bfifo
queue (tx_queue_len * psched_mtu). If the drop parameters of any VQ are
configured with a smaller limit than the GRED queue limit, that VQ will
still observe the smaller limit instead.

gred_dequeue() and gred_drop() do not seem to get called when the
queue is empty, meaning that we never start idling while in WRED
mode. And since qidlestart is not stored by gred_store_wred_set(),
we would never stop idling while in WRED mode if we ever started.
This messes up the average queue size calculation that influences
packet marking/dropping behavior.
Now, we start WRED mode idling as we are removing the last packet
from the queue. Also we now actually stop WRED mode idling when we
are enqueuing a packet.

q->vars.qavg is a Wlog scaled value, but q->backlog is not. In order
to pass q->vars.qavg as the backlog value, we need to un-scale it.
Additionally, the qave value returned via netlink should not be Wlog
scaled, so we need to un-scale the result of red_calc_qavg().
This caused artificially high values for "Average Queue" to be shown
by 'tc -s -d qdisc', but did not affect the actual operation of GRED.

A parameter set exists for WRED mode, called wred_set, to hold the same
values for qavg and qidlestart across all VQs. The WRED mode values had
been previously held in the VQ for the default DP. After these values
were moved to wred_set, the VQ for the default DP was no longer created
automatically (so that it could be omitted on purpose, to have packets
in the default DP enqueued directly to the device without using RED).
However, gred_dump() was overlooked during that change; in WRED mode it
still reads qavg/qidlestart from the VQ for the default DP, which might
not even exist. As a result, this command sequence will cause an oops:
tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle $HANDLE parent $PARENT gred setup \
DPs 3 default 2 grio
tc qdisc change dev $DEV handle $HANDLE gred DP 0 prio 8 $RED_OPTIONS
tc qdisc change dev $DEV handle $HANDLE gred DP 1 prio 8 $RED_OPTIONS
This fixes gred_dump() in WRED mode to use the values held in wred_set.

One holding the RED 'constant' parameters, and one containing the

to add an optional RED unit to SFQ.
