In commit 48b6190a0042 ("net/smc: Limit SMC visits when handshake workqueue congested"),
we introduce a mechanism to put constraint on SMC connections visit
according to the pressure of SMC handshake process.
At that time, we believed that controlling the feature through netlink
was sufficient. However, most people have realized now that netlink is
not convenient in container scenarios, and sysctl is a more suitable
approach.
In addition, since commit 462791bbfa35 ("net/smc: add sysctl interface for SMC")
had introcuded smc_sysctl_net_init(), it is reasonable for us to
initialize limit_smc_hs in it instead of initializing it in
smc_pnet_net_int().

Since smc_inet6_prot does not initialize ipv6_pinfo_offset, inet6_create()
copies an incorrect address value, sk + 0 (offset), to inet_sk(sk)->pinet6.
In addition, since inet_sk(sk)->pinet6 and smc_sk(sk)->clcsock practically
point to the same address, when smc_create_clcsk() stores the newly
created clcsock in smc_sk(sk)->clcsock, inet_sk(sk)->pinet6 is corrupted
into clcsock. This causes NULL pointer dereference and various other
memory corruptions.
To solve this problem, you need to initialize ipv6_pinfo_offset, add a
smc6_sock structure, and then add ipv6_pinfo as the second member of
the smc_sock structure.

The buffer size histograms in smc_stats, namely rx/tx_rmbsize, record
the sizes of ringbufs for all connections that have ever appeared in
the net namespace. They are incremental and we cannot know the actual
ringbufs usage from these. So here introduces statistics for current
ringbufs usage of existing smc connections in the net namespace into
smc_stats, it will be incremented when new connection uses a ringbuf
and decremented when the ringbuf is unused.

Currently we have the statistics on sndbuf/RMB sizes of all connections
that have ever been on the link group, namely smc_stats_memsize. However
these statistics are incremental and since the ringbufs of link group
are allowed to be reused, we cannot know the actual allocated buffers
through these. So here introduces the statistic on actual allocated
ringbufs of the link group, it will be incremented when a new ringbuf is
added into buf_list and decremented when it is deleted from buf_list.

Commit 9748dbc9f265 ("net/smc: Avoid -Wflex-array-member-not-at-end
warnings") introduced tagged `struct smc_clc_v2_extension_fixed` and
`struct smc_clc_smcd_v2_extension_fixed`. We want to ensure that when
new members need to be added to the flexible structures, they are
always included within these tagged structs.
So, we use `static_assert()` to ensure that the memory layout for
both the flexible structure and the tagged struct is the same after
any changes.

When the SMC client perform CLC handshake, it will check whether
the clc header type is correct in receiving SMC_CLC_ACCEPT packet.
The specific invoking path is as follows:
__smc_connect
smc_connect_clc
smc_clc_wait_msg
smc_clc_msg_hdr_valid
smc_clc_msg_acc_conf_valid
Therefore, the smc_connect_check_aclc interface invoked by

This patch allows to create smc socket via AF_INET,
similar to the following code,
/* create v4 smc sock */
v4 = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_SMC);
/* create v6 smc sock */
v6 = socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_SMC);
There are several reasons why we believe it is appropriate here:
1. For smc sockets, it actually use IPv4 (AF-INET) or IPv6 (AF-INET6)
address. There is no AF_SMC address at all.
2. Create smc socket in the AF_INET(6) path, which allows us to reuse
the infrastructure of AF_INET(6) path, such as common ebpf hooks.
Otherwise, smc have to implement it again in AF_SMC path.

When copying smc settings to clcsock, avoid setting clcsock's sk_sndbuf
to sysctl_tcp_wmem[1], since this may overwrite the value set by
tcp_sndbuf_expand() in TCP connection establishment.
And the other setting sk_{snd|rcv}buf to sysctl value in
smc_adjust_sock_bufsizes() can also be omitted since the initialization
of smc sock and clcsock has set sk_{snd|rcv}buf to smc.sysctl_{w|r}mem

SMCR_RMBE_SIZES is the upper boundary of SMC-R's snd_buf and rcv_buf.
The maximum bytes of snd_buf and rcv_buf can be calculated by 2^SMCR_
RMBE_SIZES * 16KB. SMCR_RMBE_SIZES = 5 means the upper boundary is 512KB.
TCP's snd_buf and rcv_buf max size is configured by net.ipv4.tcp_w/rmem[2]
whose default value is 4MB or 6MB, is much larger than SMC-R's upper
boundary.
In some scenarios, such as Recommendation System, the communication
pattern is mainly large size send/recv, where the size of snd_buf and
rcv_buf greatly affects performance. Due to the upper boundary
disadvantage, SMC-R performs poor than TCP in those scenarios. So it
is time to enlarge the upper boundary size of SMC-R's snd_buf and rcv_buf,
so that the SMC-R's snd_buf and rcv_buf can be configured to larger size
for performance gain in such scenarios.
The SMC-R rcv_buf's size will be transferred to peer by the field
rmbe_size in clc accept and confirm message. The length of the field
rmbe_size is four bits, which means the maximum value of SMCR_RMBE_SIZES
is 15. In case of frequently adjusting the value of SMCR_RMBE_SIZES
in different scenarios, set the value of SMCR_RMBE_SIZES to the maximum
value 15, which means the upper boundary of SMC-R's snd_buf and rcv_buf
is 512MB. As the real memory usage is determined by the value of
net.smc.w/rmem, not by the upper boundary, set the value of SMCR_RMBE_SIZES
to the maximum value has no side affects.

CONFIG_ARCH_NO_SG_CHAIN is defined
SG_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC is used to limit maximum number of entries that
will be allocated in one piece of scatterlist. When the entries of
scatterlist exceeds SG_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC, sg chain will be used. From
commit 7c703e54cc71 ("arch: switch the default on ARCH_HAS_SG_CHAIN"),
we can know that the macro CONFIG_ARCH_NO_SG_CHAIN is used to identify
whether sg chain is supported. So, SMC-R's rmb buffer should be limited
by SG_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC only when the macro CONFIG_ARCH_NO_SG_CHAIN is
defined.

With the rework of how the __string() handles dynamic strings where it
saves off the source string in field in the helper structure[1], the
assignment of that value to the trace event field is stored in the helper
value and does not need to be passed in again.
This means that with:
__string(field, mystring)
Which use to be assigned with __assign_str(field, mystring), no longer
needs the second parameter and it is unused. With this, __assign_str()
will now only get a single parameter.
There's over 700 users of __assign_str() and because coccinelle does not
handle the TRACE_EVENT() macro I ended up using the following sed script:
git grep -l __assign_str | while read a ; do
sed -e 's/\(__assign_str([^,]*[^ ,]\) *,[^;]*/\1)/' $a > /tmp/test-file;
mv /tmp/test-file $a;
done
I then searched for __assign_str() that did not end with ';' as those
were multi line assignments that the sed script above would fail to catch.
Note, the same updates will need to be done for:
__assign_str_len()
__assign_rel_str()
__assign_rel_str_len()
I tested this with both an allmodconfig and an allyesconfig (build only for both).

Rather than pass in flags, error pointer, and whether this is a kernel
invocation or not, add a struct proto_accept_arg struct as the argument.
This then holds all of these arguments, and prepares accept for being
able to pass back more information.

This commit comes at the tail end of a greater effort to remove the
empty elements at the end of the ctl_table arrays (sentinels) which
will reduce the overall build time size of the kernel and run time
memory bloat by ~64 bytes per sentinel (further information Link :
https://lore.kernel.org/all/ZO5Yx5JFogGi%2FcBo@bombadil.infradead.org/)
To avoid lots of small commits, this commit brings together network
changes from (as they appear in MAINTAINERS) LLC, MPTCP, NETROM NETWORK
LAYER, PHONET PROTOCOL, ROSE NETWORK LAYER, RXRPC SOCKETS, SCTP
PROTOCOL, SHARED MEMORY COMMUNICATIONS (SMC), TIPC NETWORK LAYER and
NETWORKING [IPSEC]
* Remove sentinel element from ctl_table structs.
* Replace empty array registration with the register_net_sysctl_sz call
in llc_sysctl_init
* Replace the for loop stop condition that tests for procname == NULL
with one that depends on array size in sctp_sysctl_net_register
* Remove instances where an array element is zeroed out to make it look
like a sentinel in xfrm_sysctl_init. This is not longer needed and is
safe after commit c899710fe7f9 ("networking: Update to
register_net_sysctl_sz") added the array size to the ctl_table
registration
* Use a table_size variable to keep the value of ARRAY_SIZE

If the local sndbuf shares the same physical memory with peer DMB,
the cursor update processing needs to be adapted to ensure that the
data to be consumed won't be overwritten.
So in this case, the fin_curs and sndbuf_space that were originally
updated after sending the CDC message should be modified to not be
update until the peer updates cons_curs.

In some scenarios using Emulated-ISM device, sndbuf can share the same
physical memory region with peer DMB to avoid data copy from one side
to the other. In such case the sndbuf is only a descriptor that
describes the shared memory and does not actually occupy memory, it's
more like a ghost buffer.

So here introduces three new SMC-D device operations to check if this
feature is supported by device, and to {attach|detach} ghost sndbuf to
peer DMB. For now only loopback-ism supports this.

Since loopback-ism is not a PCI device, the PCI information fed back by
smc_nl_handle_smcd_dev() does not apply to loopback-ism. So currently
ignore loopback-ism when dumping SMC-D devices. The netlink function of
loopback-ism will be refactored when SMC netlink interface is updated.

-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end is coming in GCC-14, and we are getting
ready to enable it globally.
There are currently a couple of objects in `struct smc_clc_msg_proposal_area`
that contain a couple of flexible structures:
struct smc_clc_msg_proposal_area {
...
struct smc_clc_v2_extension pclc_v2_ext;
...
struct smc_clc_smcd_v2_extension pclc_smcd_v2_ext;
...
};
So, in order to avoid ending up with a couple of flexible-array members
in the middle of a struct, we use the `struct_group_tagged()` helper to
separate the flexible array from the rest of the members in the flexible
structure:
struct smc_clc_smcd_v2_extension {
struct_group_tagged(smc_clc_smcd_v2_extension_fixed, fixed,
u8 system_eid[SMC_MAX_EID_LEN];
u8 reserved[16];
);
struct smc_clc_smcd_gid_chid gidchid[];
};
With the change described above, we now declare objects of the type of
the tagged struct without embedding flexible arrays in the middle of
another struct:
struct smc_clc_msg_proposal_area {
...
struct smc_clc_v2_extension_fixed pclc_v2_ext;
...
struct smc_clc_smcd_v2_extension_fixed pclc_smcd_v2_ext;
...
};
We also use `container_of()` when we need to retrieve a pointer to the
flexible structures.
So, with these changes, fix the following warnings:
In file included from net/smc/af_smc.c:42:
net/smc/smc_clc.h:186:49: warning: structure containing a flexible array member is not at the end of another structure [-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end]

While looking at UDP receive performance, I saw sk_wake_async()
was no longer inlined.
This matters at least on AMD Zen1-4 platforms (see SRSO)
This might be because rcu_read_lock() and rcu_read_unlock()
are no longer nops in recent kernels ?
Add sk_wake_async_rcu() variant, which must be called from
contexts already holding rcu lock.
As SOCK_FASYNC is deprecated in modern days, use unlikely()
to give a hint to the compiler.
sk_wake_async_rcu() is properly inlined from
__udp_enqueue_schedule_skb() and sock_def_readable().

Many syzbot reports show extreme rtnl pressure, and many of them hint
that smc acquires rtnl in netns creation for no good reason [1]
This patch returns early from smc_pnet_net_init()
if there is no netdevice yet.
I am not even sure why smc_pnet_create_pnetids_list() even exists,
because smc_pnet_netdev_event() is also calling
smc_pnet_add_base_pnetid() when handling NETDEV_UP event.

Commit 67f562e3e147 ("net/smc: transfer fasync_list in case of fallback")
leaves the socket's fasync list pointer within a container socket as well.
When the latter is destroyed, '__sock_release()' warns about its non-empty
fasync list, which is a dangling pointer to previously freed fasync list
of an underlying TCP socket. Fix this spurious warning by nullifying
fasync list of a container socket.

According to latest release of SMCv2.1[1], the term 'virtual ISM' has
been changed to 'Emulated-ISM' to avoid the ambiguity of the word
'virtual' in different contexts. So the names or comments in the code
need be modified accordingly.

The logic to determine if SMC-D link group matches is incorrect. The
correct logic should be that it only returns true when the GID is the
same, and the SMC-D device is the same and the extended GID is the same
(in the case of virtual ISM).
It can be fixed by adding brackets around the conditional (or ternary)
operator expression. But for better readability and maintainability, it
has been changed to an if-else statement.

A crash was found when dumping SMC-D connections. It can be reproduced
by following steps:
- run nginx/wrk test:
smc_run nginx
smc_run wrk -t 16 -c 1000 -d <duration> -H 'Connection: Close' <URL>
- continuously dump SMC-D connections in parallel:
watch -n 1 'smcss -D'

It is possible that the connection is in process of being established
when we dump it. Assumed that the connection has been registered in a
link group by smc_conn_create() but the rmb_desc has not yet been
initialized by smc_buf_create(), thus causing the illegal access to
conn->rmb_desc. So fix it by checking before dump.
