* kbuild: fix "mkdir -p" usage in scripts/package/mkspecRolf Eike Beer2006-09-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | "mkdir -p" does not only mean not to complain if the directory already exists, but also to create the parent directories if needed. This patch removes "lib" from the list of directories to create as we will also create "lib/modules". * kbuild: fix make rpm for powerpcMike Wolf2006-06-081-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | The default target for most powerpc platforms is zImage. The zImage however is in arch/powerpc/boot and the mkspec script was set up to get the kernel from the top level of the kernel tree. This patch copies vmlinux to arch/powerpc/boot and then copies the kernel to the tmp directory so the rpm can be made. * kbuild: replace PHONY with FORCESam Ravnborg2006-03-081-11/+7
| | | | | | | .PHONY: does not take patterns so use FORCE to achive same effect. Thanks to "Paul D. Smith" <psmith@gnu.org> for noticing this. Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* kbuild: change kbuild to not rely on incorrect GNU make behaviorPaul Smith2006-03-061-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The kbuild system takes advantage of an incorrect behavior in GNU make. Once this behavior is fixed, all files in the kernel rebuild every time, even if nothing has changed. This patch ensures kbuild works with both the incorrect and correct behaviors of GNU make. For more details on the incorrect behavior, see: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-make/2006-03/msg00003.html Changes in this patch: - Keep all targets that are to be marked .PHONY in a variable, PHONY. - Add .PHONY: $(PHONY) to mark them properly. - Remove any $(PHONY) files from the $? list when determining whether targets are up-to-date or not. * kbuild: tar-pkg with out-out-tree buildingJan-Benedict Glaw2006-01-012-19/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix out-of-tree builds for the tar-pkg targets When I wrote the buildtar script, I didn't even think about out-of-tree builds because I didn't use these back then. This patch throughoutly uses ${objtree} instead of `pwd`. Also, the kernel version is no longer manually built. Instead, it will properly use $KERNELRELEASE . Installing modules is only done if CONFIG_MODULES is set. Signed-off-by: Jan-Benedict Glaw <jbglaw@lug-owl.de> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>

* kbuild: Fix bug in make deb-pkg when using seperate source and output ↵Sam Ravnborg2005-07-142-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | directories From: Ryan Anderson <ryan@michonline.com> When running "make O=something deb-pkg", I get a failure that claims I haven't configured my kernel (I have). Running it a second time tells me to run "make mrproper" (include/linux/version.h got built on the first run) Original patch from: From: Ajay Patel <patela@gmail.com> With modifications from: Signed-off-By: Ryan Anderson <ryan@michonline.com> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* uml: Restore proper descriptions in make deb-pkg targetSam Ravnborg2005-07-141-2/+26
| | | | | | | | | | From: Ryan Anderson <ryan@michonline.com> This pulls the description from the Debian user-mode-linux package, and puts $version back in the appropriate places for both descriptions. Signed-off-by: Ryan Anderson <ryan@michonline.com> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* uml: Make deb-pkg build target build a Debian-style user-mode-linux packageSam Ravnborg2005-07-141-6/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From: Ryan Anderson <ryan@michonline.com> Make the deb-pkg build target understand the "um" arch and set up the package and directory structure to match a mainline-Debian style user-mode-linux package. This is primarily so that it stops matching, exactly, the naming convention used by normal, non-UML kernels generated by this command. Installing "linux-2.6.11" and "linux-2.6.11", where one is a UML kernel doesn't do the right thing. This fixes that. * [PATCH] kbuild: add ia64 support to rpm Makefile targetGreg Edwards2005-07-131-0/+9
| | | | | | | | On ia64, only the EFI (fat) partition is available to boot from. The rpm needs to install the kernel under /boot/efi to be useable on ia64. Signed-off-by: Greg Edwards <edwardsg@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* [PATCH] kbuild: create tarballsJan-Benedict Glaw2005-07-132-3/+127
| | | | | | | | It adds tarball packaging, which I prefer for distribution. Also one of the two blanks after @echo is removed. One seems to be enough :) Signed-off-by: Jan-Benedict Glaw <jbglaw@lug-owl.de> Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
* Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds2005-04-173-0/+250
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
