* ALSA: firewire-motu: add support for MOTU UltraLite-mk3 (FireWire only model)Takashi Sakamoto2020-05-253-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | UltraLite-mk3 was shipped 2008 by MOTU. This model has two lineups; FireWire-only and FireWire/USB2.0 Hybrid model. Additionally, the latter has two variants in respect of the type of IEEE 1394 connector; alpha and beta connector. This commit adds support for the FireWire-only model, which is already discontinued. $ python3 crpp < /sys/bus/firewire/devices/fw1/config_rom ROM header and bus information block ----------------------------------------------------------------- 400 0410353a bus_info_length 4, crc_length 16, crc 13626 404 31333934 bus_name "1394" 408 20ff7000 irmc 0, cmc 0, isc 1, bmc 0, cyc_clk_acc 255, max_rec 7 (256) 40c 0001f200 company_id 0001f2 | 410 000902c7 device_id 00000902c7 | EUI-64 0001f200000902c7 root directory ----------------------------------------------------------------- 414 0004ef04 directory_length 4, crc 61188 418 030001f2 vendor 41c 0c0083c0 node capabilities per IEEE 1394 420 d1000002 --> unit directory at 428 424 8d000005 --> eui-64 leaf at 438 unit directory at 428 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 428 00035556 directory_length 3, crc 21846 42c 120001f2 specifier id 430 13000019 version 434 17100800 model eui-64 leaf at 438 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 438 0002f3c5 leaf_length 2, crc 62405 43c 0001f200 company_id 0001f2 | 440 000902c7 device_id 00000902c7 | EUI-64 0001f200000902c7 Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20200523071733.170129-1-o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

* ALSA: firewire-motu: add model-specific table of chunk countTakashi Sakamoto2020-05-223-3/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In MOTU protocol, data block consists of SPH and 24-bit chunks aligned to quadlet. The number of chunks per data block is specific to model. For models with optical interface, the number differs depending on I/O settings for the interface (ADAT, TOSLINK). Currently the number is calculated from flags in model-specific data. However this is weak in the case that the model has quirks. Actually, for quirks of some models, flags are used against their original meanings. This commit adds model-specific table of chunk count. For future integration, this table is based on the calculation. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some devices have a quirk to postpone transmission of isoc packet for several dozen or hundred isoc cycles since configured to transmit. Furthermore, some devices have a quirk to transmit isoc packet with discontinued data of its header. In 1394 OHCI specification, software allows to start isoc context with certain isoc cycle. Linux firewire subsystem has kernel API to use it as well. This commit uses the functionality of 1394 OHCI controller to handle the quirks. At present, this feature is convenient to ALSA bebob and fireface driver. | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit allows ALSA firewire-motu driver to share PCM buffer size for both capture and playback PCM substream. When AMDTP domain starts for one of the PCM substream, buffer size of the PCM substream is stores to AMDTP domain structure. Some AMDTP streams have already run with the buffer size when another PCM substream starts, therefore the PCM substream has a constraint to its buffer size. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixed size The number of packets in packet buffer has been fixed number (=48) since first commit of ALSA IEC 61883-1/6 packet streaming engine. This commit allows the engine to use variable number of packets in the buffer. The size is calculated by a parameter in AMDTP domain structure surely to store the number of events in the packets of buffer. Although the value of parameter is expected to come from 'period size' parameter of PCM substream, at present 48 is still used. * ALSA: firewire-motu: use the same size of period for PCM substream in AMDTP ↵Takashi Sakamoto2019-10-171-8/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | streams In current implementation, when opening a PCM substream, it's needed to check whether the opposite PCM substream runs. This is to assign effectual constraints (e.g. sampling rate) to opened PCM substream. The number of PCM substreams and MIDI substreams on AMDTP streams in domain is recorded in own structure. Usage of this count is an alternative of the above check. This is better because the count is incremented in pcm.hw_params earlier than pcm.trigger. This idea has one issue because it's incremented for MIDI substreams as well. In current implementation, for a case that any MIDI substream run and a PCM substream is going to start, PCM application to start the PCM substream can decide hardware parameters by restart packet streaming. Just checking the substream count can brings regression. Now AMDTP domain structure has a member for the size of PCM period in PCM substream which starts AMDTP streams in domain. When the value has zero and the substream count is greater than 1, it means that any MIDI substream starts AMDTP streams in domain. Usage of the value can resolve the above issue. This commit replaces the check with the substream count and the value for the size of PCM period. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | MOTU 4pre was launched in 2012 by MOTU, Inc. This commit allows userspace applications can transmit and receive PCM frames and MIDI messages for this model via ALSA PCM interface and RawMidi/Sequencer interfaces. The device supports MOTU protocol version 3. Unlike the other devices, the device is simply designed. The size of data block is fixed to 10 quadlets during available sampling rates (44.1 - 96.0 kHz). Each data block includes 1 source packet header, 2 data chunks for messages, 8 data chunks for PCM samples and 2 data chunks for padding to quadlet alignment. The device has no MIDI, optical, BNC and AES/EBU interfaces. Like support for the other MOTU devices, the quality of playback sound is not enough good with periodical noise yet. $ python2 crpp < ~/git/am-config-rom/motu/motu-4pre.img ROM header and bus information block ----------------------------------------------------------------- 400 041078cc bus_info_length 4, crc_length 16, crc 30924 404 31333934 bus_name "1394" 408 20ff7000 irmc 0, cmc 0, isc 1, bmc 0, cyc_clk_acc 255, max_rec 7 (256) 40c 0001f200 company_id 0001f2 | 410 000a41c5 device_id 00000a41c5 | EUI-64 0001f200000a41c5 root directory ----------------------------------------------------------------- 414 0004ef04 directory_length 4, crc 61188 418 030001f2 vendor 41c 0c0083c0 node capabilities per IEEE 1394 420 d1000002 --> unit directory at 428 424 8d000005 --> eui-64 leaf at 438 unit directory at 428 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 428 0003ceda directory_length 3, crc 52954 42c 120001f2 specifier id 430 13000045 version 434 17103800 model eui-64 leaf at 438 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 438 0002d248 leaf_length 2, crc 53832 43c 0001f200 company_id 0001f2 | 440 000a41c5 device_id 00000a41c5 | EUI-64 0001f200000a41c5 Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

* ALSA: firewire-lib: add syt_override member for some protocolsTakashi Sakamoto2019-07-221-1/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some protocols don't use syt field of CIP header to represent presentation timestamp. For such protocol, ALSA IEC 61883-1/6 packet streaming engine uses a pointer into local variable for the value of syt to call data block processing layer. However, it can decide the value when initializing packet streaming layer. This commit adds 'syt_override' member for packet streaming layer. * ALSA: firewire-lib: pass data block counter to data block processing layerTakashi Sakamoto2019-07-221-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a preparation for future commit that 'struct amdtp_stream.data_block_count' does not represent the value of data block count for current data block. However, data block count is required for calculation of sequence index in sequence-multiplied data channel. Some of data block processing layer require it; e.g. for AM824 data block. This commit passes data block count to the processing layer. Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

* | | firewire-motu: fix wrong reference count for stream functionality at error ↵Takashi Sakamoto2019-07-071-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | path of rawmidi interface In IEC 61883-6, several types of sampling data can be multiplexed into payload of common isochronous packet (CIP). For typical audio and music units, PCM samples and MIDI messages are multiplexed into one packet streaming. ALSA firewire-motu driver allows applications of rawmidi interface to start packet streaming for transmission of MIDI messages. However at error path, the reference count of stream functionality is not operated correctly. This can brings a bug that packet streaming is not stopped when all referrers release the count. * | ALSA: firewire-motu: unify common tracepoints for both directionTakashi Sakamoto2019-06-242-58/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In ALSA firewire-motu driver, some tracepoints are supported to probe vendor-specific data fields for SPH and status/control messages in payload of isochronous packet. At present, the events of tracepoints are unique each of direction, however the pair of events has the same structure and print format. It's possible to unify the pair. This commit unifies the pair. From userspace, direction is specified by filtering for src/dst fields in the structure. Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
