* sound: Retire OSSTakashi Iwai2017-10-311-533/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since no complaints have been raised after disabling the build of OSS (Open Sound System) by the commit 31cbee6a5611 ("sound: Disable the build of OSS drivers"), let's finally drop the whole code and documentation. Some glue codes are still left intact since sound/oss/dmasound stuff remains -- which is an independent implementation solely for m68k, and it's not covered by ALSA yet. Also, a couple of API header files (linux/sound.h and linux/soundcard.h) are kept remaining as well, since the OSS API itself is still supported by ALSA OSS emulation, and applications can refer to these. Where we're at it, some help texts in the top-level Kconfig are adjusted, too (who still needs to specify I/O port in kbuild nowadays?). * sound/oss: remove VIRT_TO_BUS dependencyArnd Bergmann2015-12-091-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The OSS sound drivers used to rely on virt_to_bus(), but don't any more, so we can remove the Kconfig dependency. As a lot of architectures don't provide VIRT_TO_BUS any more, removing the dependency in sounds/oss/ would make the deprecated drivers appear there, which we probably don't want. Instead I'm replacing the simple dependency with 'VIRT_TO_BUS || RPC || NETWINDER' so we can still build these sound drivers for the platforms that need them, but don't change anything on other architectures. As a follow-up, we can remove the virt_to_bus() implementation and Kconfig symbol in the ARM architecture. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

* sound: Fix make allmodconfig on MIPS correctlyPaul Bolle2013-05-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Commit d4702b189c ("sound: Fix make allmodconfig on MIPS") added a (negative) dependency on ISA_DMA_SUPPORT_BROKEN. Since that Kconfig symbol doesn't exist, this dependency will always evaluate to true. Apparently GENERIC_ISA_DMA_SUPPORT_BROKEN was meant to be used here. * sound: Fix make allmodconfig on MIPSTakashi Iwai2013-05-031-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The compile of soundcard.c is broken on MIPS when allmodconfig is used because of the missing MAX_DMA_CHANNELS definition. As a simple workaround, just add a Kconfig dependency. * doc: fix broken referencesPaul Bolle2011-09-271-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | There are numerous broken references to Documentation files (in other Documentation files, in comments, etc.). These broken references are caused by typo's in the references, and by renames or removals of the Documentation files. Some broken references are simply odd. |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | SOUND_PRIME (for OSS) is a tristate. This doesn't make much sense if most users are checking for SOUND_PRIME!=0. This patch changes the semantics of SOUND_PRIME to being a limit for all OSS modules, IOW: SOUND_PRIME=m does now say that all OSS drivers can only be modular. As a side effect, since SOUND_PRIME already depends on SOUND, there's no longer a reason for drivers depending on SOUND_PRIME to additionally depend on SOUND. * Input:Adrian Bunk2005-05-281-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds dummy gameport_register_port, gameport_unregister_port and gameport_set_phys functions to gameport.h for the case when a driver can't use gameport. This fixes the compilation of some OSS drivers with GAMEPORT=n without the need to #if inside every single driver. This patch also removes the non-working and now obsolete SOUND_GAMEPORT. This patch is also an alternative solution for ALSA drivers with similar problems (but #if's inside the drivers might have the advantage of saving some more bytes of gameport is not available). The only user-visible change is that for GAMEPORT=m the affected OSS drivers are now allowed to be built statically (but they won't have gameport support). Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
