* perf probe: Support probing on offline cross-arch binaryMasami Hiramatsu2016-09-011-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Support probing on offline cross-architecture binary by adding getting the target machine arch from ELF and choose correct register string for the machine. Here is an example: ----- $ perf probe --vmlinux=./vmlinux-arm --definition 'do_sys_open $params' p:probe/do_sys_open do_sys_open+0 dfd=%r5:s32 filename=%r1:u32 flags=%r6:s32 mode=%r3:u16 ----- Here, we can get probe/do_sys_open from above and append it to to the target machine's tracing/kprobe_events file in the tracefs mountput, usually /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/kprobe_events (or /sys/kernel/tracing/kprobe_events). * perf s390: Fix 'start' address of module's mapSong Shan Gong2016-07-262-0/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | At present, when creating module's map, perf gets 'start' address by parsing '/proc/modules', but it's the module base address, it isn't the start address of the '.text' section. In most arches, it's OK. But for s390, it places 'GOT' and 'PLT' relocations before '.text' section. So there exists an offset between module base address and '.text' section, which will incur wrong symbol resolution for modules. Fix this bug by getting 'start' address of module's map from parsing '/sys/module/[module name]/sections/.text', not from '/proc/modules'. * perf kvm/{x86,s390}: Remove const from kvm_events_tpHemant Kumar2016-01-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the "const" qualifier from kvm_events_tp declaration to account for the fact that some architectures may need to update this variable dynamically. For instance, powerpc will need to update this variable dynamically depending on the machine type. * perf kvm/{x86,s390}: Remove dependency on uapi/kvm_perf.hHemant Kumar2016-01-291-1/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Its better to remove the dependency on uapi/kvm_perf.h to allow dynamic discovery of kvm events (if its needed). To do this, some extern variables have been introduced with which we can keep the generic functions generic. * perf build: Add arch x86 objects buildingJiri Olsa2015-02-121-0/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move the x86 arch objects building under build framework to be included in the libperf build object. Adding also arch/$(ARCH)/Build files for the rest of the archs. The reason for this is that in arch/Build we now do: +libperf-y += $(ARCH)/ which would make the build to fail on other architectures, because the build framework requires 'Build' file in nested directories and this patch adds it only for x86. * perf kvm: Add stat support on s390Alexander Yarygin2014-07-162-0/+107
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On s390, the vmexit event has a tree-like structure: between exit_event_begin and exit_event_end several other events may happen and with each of them refining the previous ones. This patch adds a decoder for such events to the generic code and also the files <asm/kvm_perf.h> and kvm-stat.c for s390. Commands 'perf kvm stat record', 'report' and 'live' are supported. * perf tools: Fix build on non-glibc systems due to libio.h absenceCody P Schafer2013-03-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Including libio.h causes build failures on uClibc systems (which lack libio.h). It appears that libio.h was only included to pull in a definition for NULL, so it has been replaced by stddef.h. On powerpc, libio.h was conditionally included, but could be removed completely as it is unneeded. Also, the included of stdlib.h was changed to stddef.h (as again, only NULL is needed).
