This checks whether sys/sdt.h is available or not, which is required for
DTRACE_PROBE().
We can disable this feature by passing NO_SDT=1 when building.
This flag will be used for SDT test case and further SDT events in
perftools.

That is not present on some libelf implementations, such as the one used
in Alpine Linux: libelf-0.8.13.
This ends up disabling the SDT code, that relies on this function.
One alternative would be to provide an weak fallback implementation or
the open coded variant used by the buildid sysfs notes reading code.

We've decided not to access kernel source files because changes there
could break the tooling side, this is one more step in that direction.

We shouldn't use headers from the kernel sources directly, instead we
should use the system's headers or in cases where that isn't possible,
like with perf_event.h, where the introduction of kernel features such
as perf_event_attr.{write_backwards,sample_max_stack} and
PERF_EVENT_IOC_PAUSE_OUTPUT take some time to become available in
/usr/include/linux/perf_event.h we need a copy.
Do it and check for source code drift, emitting a warning when changes
are detected.

tools/arch/x86/include/asm/
And remove the empty tools/arch/x86/include/asm/unistd_{32,64}.h files
introduced by eae7a755ee81 ("perf tools, x86: Build perf on older
user-space as well").
This way we get closer to mirroring the kernel for cases where __NR_
can't be found for some include path/_GNU_SOURCE/whatever scenario.

That appeared after 0.140, and will be used in the SDT code, so, to
avoid bisection break on older systems, add a feature detection and
provide a stub with a pr_debug() to keep it building.

This is because the remote libunwind library detected is not appended to
EXTLIBS variable, which will be included between 'start-group' and
'end-group' when linking.
The existing variable LIBUNWIND_LIBS is assigned to libs for local
unwind, this patch introduces a new variable EXTLIBS_LIBUNWIND for
storing remote libunwind libraries instead.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/acme/linux into perf/core
Pull perf/core improvements and fixes from Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo:
User visible changes:
- Support cross unwinding, i.e. collecting '--call-graph dwarf' perf.data files
in one machine and then doing analysis in another machine of a different
hardware architecture. This enables, for instance, to do:
perf record -a --call-graph dwarf
on a x86-32 or aarch64 system and then do 'perf report' on it on a
x86_64 workstation. (He Kuang)
- Fix crash in build_id_cache__kallsyms_path(), recent regression (Wang Nan)
Infrastructure changes:
- Make tools/lib/bpf use the IS_ERR return facility consistently and also stop
using the _get_ term for non-reference count methods (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- 'perf config' refactorings (Taeung Song)

CONFIG_LIBUNWIND/NO_LIBUNWIND are changed to CONFIG_LOCAL_LIBUNWIND/
NO_LOCAL_LIBUNWIND for retaining local unwind features. The new
CONFIG_LIBUNWIND stands for either local or remote or both unwind are

is supported.

Map ID values with corresponding register names. These names are then
displayed when user issues perf record with the -I option
followed by perf report/script with -D option.
To test this patchset, Eg:

We used libaudit to map ids to syscall names and vice-versa, but that
imposes a delay in supporting new syscalls, having to wait for libaudit
to get those new syscalls on its tables.
To remove that delay, for x86_64 initially, grab a copy of
arch/x86/entry/syscalls/syscall_64.tbl and use it to generate those
tables.
Syscalls currently not available in audit-libs:
# trace -e copy_file_range,membarrier,mlock2,pread64,pwrite64,timerfd_create,userfaultfd
Error: Invalid syscall copy_file_range, membarrier, mlock2, pread64, pwrite64, timerfd_create, userfaultfd
Hint: try 'perf list syscalls:sys_enter_*'
Hint: and: 'man syscalls'

If not, tell the user that:
config/Makefile:273: Old libdw.h, finding variables at given 'perf probe' point will not work, install elfutils-devel/libdw-dev >= 0.157
And return -ENOTSUPP in die_get_var_range(), failing features that
need it, like the one pointed out above.
This fixes the build on older systems, such as Ubuntu 12.04.5.

Introducing FEATURES_DUMP make variable to provide features
detection dump file and bypass the feature detection.
The intention is to use this during build tests to skip
repeated features detection, like:

If both LIBBPF and DWARF are detected, it is possible to create prologue
for eBPF programs to help them access kernel data. HAVE_BPF_PROLOGUE and
CONFIG_BPF_PROLOGUE are added as flags for this feature.
PERF_HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSET is introduced in commit
63ab024a5b6f295ca17a293ad81b7c728f49a89a ("perf tools:
regs_query_register_offset() infrastructure"), which indicates that an
architecture supports converting name of a register to its offset in
'struct pt_regs'. Without this support, BPF_PROLOGUE should be turned
off.

By adding libbpf into perf's Makefile, this patch enables perf to build
libbpf if libelf is found and neither NO_LIBELF nor NO_LIBBPF is set.
The newly introduced code is similar to how libapi and libtraceevent
are wired into Makefile.perf.
MANIFEST is also updated for 'make perf-*-src-pkg'.
Append make_no_libbpf to tools/perf/tests/make.
The 'bpf' feature check is appended into default FEATURE_TESTS and
FEATURE_DISPLAY, so perf will check the API version of bpf in
/path/to/kernel/include/uapi/linux/bpf.h. Which should not fail except
when we are trying to port this code to an old kernel.
Error messages are also updated to notify users about the lack of BPF
support in 'perf record' if libelf is missing or the BPF API check
failed.
tools/lib/bpf is added to TAG_FOLDERS to allow us to navigate libbpf
files when working on perf using tools/perf/tags.

The auxtrace code needed by Intel PT uses the __get_cpuid() gcc builtin,
that is not present in old systems, breaking the build.
Add a test to check for that builtin and disable AUXTRACE in those
systems.

The existing numa test checks only if numa.h and numa_available() are
present, but that can be satisfied with an old libnuma that is not

regs_query_register_offset() is a helper function which converts
register name like "%rax" to offset of a register in 'struct pt_regs',
which is required by BPF prologue generator.
PERF_HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSET indicates an architecture
supports converting name of a register to its offset in 'struct
pt_regs'.
HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSET is introduced as the corresponding
CFLAGS of PERF_HAVE_ARCH_REGS_QUERY_REGISTER_OFFSET.

The Fedora 22 version of libdw requires a couple of extra libraries to
link. With a dynamic link the dependencies are pulled in automatically,
but this doesn't work for static linking. Add the needed libraries
explicitely to the feature probe and the Makefile.
v2: Explicitly check for static linking and only add the dependencies
when -static is set. This is to avoid regressions on Arnaldo's system.

When building with a prefix ending with a slash, for example:
$ make prefix=/usr/local/
one of the perf tests fail to compile due to BUILD_STR macro mishandling
bindir_SQ string containing with two slashes:
-DBINDIR="BUILD_STR(/usr/local//bin)"
with the following error:
CC tests/attr.o
tests/attr.c: In function ‘test__attr’:
tests/attr.c:168:50: error: expected ‘)’ before ‘;’ token
snprintf(path_perf, PATH_MAX, "%s/perf", BINDIR);
^
tests/attr.c:176:1: error: expected ‘;’ before ‘}’ token
}
^
tests/attr.c:176:1: error: control reaches end of non-void function [-Werror=return-type]
}
^
cc1: all warnings being treated as errors
This patch works around the problem by "cleaning" the bindir string
using make's abspath function.
