We generally don't specify the protocol implementation in unit descriptions.
For journald, we have:

so we need to keep "Varlink" in the name. But also use "Sockets" (plural)
for the "main" socket unit, since it opens multiple sockets.

We already had it on the socket units, so it's possible that
systemd-journald.service would be stopped and then restarted when trafic hits
the sockets when something logs. Let's not try to stop it. It is supposed to
run until the end and be eventually killed in the final killing spree.
This might (or not) help with #23287.

To make things simple and robust when debugging journald, we'll leave
the SO_TIMESTAMP invocations in the C code in place, even if they are
now typically redundant, given that the sockets are already passed into
the process with SO_TIMESTAMP turned on now.

This way we can make the socket also available for sandboxed apps that
have their own private /dev. They can now simply symlink the socket from
/dev.

We no longer allow early-boot init scripts, however in late boot the
syslog socket and local mounts are established anyway, so let's simplify
our dep graph a bit.
If $syslog doesn't resolve to syslog.target anymore there's no reason to
keep syslog.target around anymore. Let's remove it.
Note that many 3rd party service unit files order themselves after
syslog.target. These will be dangling dependencies now, which should be
unproblematic, however.

This should help making the boot process a bit easier to explore and
understand for the administrator. The simple idea is that "systemctl
status" now shows a link to documentation alongside the other status and
decriptionary information of a service.
This patch adds the necessary fields to all our shipped units if we have
proper documentation for them.

We finally got the OK from all contributors with non-trivial commits to
relicense systemd from GPL2+ to LGPL2.1+.
Some udev bits continue to be GPL2+ for now, but we are looking into
relicensing them too, to allow free copy/paste of all code within
systemd.
The bits that used to be MIT continue to be MIT.
The big benefit of the relicensing is that closed source code may now
link against libsystemd-login.so and friends.
